between cultures
Located between three continents (Europe, Africa and
America) in the Atlantic Ocean, Tenerife has always
been a meeting place of cultures. The island of Tenerife
is the largest of the seven that make up the Canary
Islands: it is located in the transition area between the
subtropical and temperate zones and it enjoys moderate
temperatures throughout the year.
On Tenerife, it is always spring, with average temperatures
of 20oC in winter and 25oC in summer.
Tenerife is an exotic but safe place with the advantage
of being a European destination, a true natural paradise,
and with excellent connections with Spain and the rest
of Europe.
Modern conference centres and some of the highestquality hotels and apartments in Europe make Tenerife
the ideal location for those professionals who are

A
natural Paradise
Tenerife is a jewel of nature. Its geographical location
and moderate climate have created a wide variety of
different micro-climates and landscapes.
The northern coast, favoured by the trade winds, has
luxuriant forests of Canarian pine and native flora (laurisilva
or laurel woodland), while the South has semi-desert-like
scenery and beaches of fine, white sand.
The whole of the centre of the island is made up of the
Mount Teide National Park, a breathtaking landscape of
volcanoes and lava, crowned by Mount Teide, the highest
mountain in Spain at 3,718 metres.
In total, 47% of the surface area of Tenerife enjoys
protected status as a National Park, a Nature Park or a
Protected Space.
Cliffs, villages lost in deep valleys, snowy peaks, hidden
beaches, sea-beds overflowing with life,... Tenerife
offers such a variety of different visions that it is truly a
continent in miniature.

Conference
centres
Over the last few years, Tenerife has developed a network of conference
centres which make the island a point of reference in architectural
terms and regarding the capacity to receive conferences.
In the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Tenerife Auditorio is
a masterpiece of design, flexibility and functionality. Nearby, the
International Trade Fair and Conference Centre offers spaces of up to
12,000 square metres for all kinds of large-scale events.
In the South of Tenerife, the new Magma Arte & Congresos offers
the most advanced technology and halls for up to 2,500 delegates.
Another conference centre in the same area, the Pirámide de Arona,
has a main auditorium for 1,815 people and over 30 meetings
rooms.
In the north, the Puerto de la Cruz Conference Centre, located
at the heart of this lovely town, has a light and airy hall for over
1,000 people. The Conference Centre is surrounded by an extensive
woodland of palm trees and by the lush gardens of the Taoro Park.

Connections
Tenerife is only two hours’ flying time from Mainland
Spain, and only four from the major cities in Europe. The
Island has two international airports, with a large number
of direct flights. Los Rodeos Airport, in the north of Tenerife,
has recently been modernised so as to offer greater functionality and comfort, and it is only 20 minutes away from
Puerto de la Cruz, the largest holiday resort in the north of
Tenerife. In the South, Reina Sofía is one of Spain’s busiest
airports and is the destination for the majority of international flights. This airport is only ten minutes away from
the boroughs of Arona and Adeje, the holiday resorts in
the South of Tenerife.
The island also has in its capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife,
one of the most popular ports of call for cruise liners.
Internally, Tenerife is well served by the two modern
motorways and a network of minor roads which make
every picturesque corner of the Island easily accessible.

Historical cities,
villages full of charm
Tenerife has about 852.950 inhabitants, in thirty-one
boroughs. On the island, it is possible to find anything
from modern cities with avant-garde buildings
(Santa Cruz de Tenerife) or towns with large historical
centres (La Orotava, La Laguna, Icod de los Vinos),
to small villages full of charm where time appears to
have stood still.
The origin of such places as Puerto de la Cruz or
Garachico as fishing ports is conserved and it is still
possible to observe the arrival back in port of the small
traditional fishing boats.
Scattered around the island, small hamlets such as
Masca or Taganana still live according to the customs
and traditions of old-style Canarian life.
Tenerife,
a living island
Tenerife has an active academic and cultural life and
is the venue for multiple meetings promoted by such
institutions as the University of La Laguna, the Canary
Islands Astrophysical Institute or the research departments
of the University or La Candelaria Hospitals. The World
Trade Center, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is also
a promoter of many business meetings and investment
opportunities.
Tenerife has a broad range of cultural options. The
Canary Islands Music Festival or the Opera Season bring
together on Tenerife the most important figures and
symphony orchestras. Festivals in the streets such as the
romerías, or religious festivals, the Tenerife Carnival and
Holy Week fill many months of the year with colour and
may be recreated at any time for congress or incentive
groups.

Team Building
Team building activities are a major part of an incentive
trip. Tenerife offers ideal conditions for organising
all kinds of team activities: orienteering, climbing,
mock rescue operations, treasure hunt, potholing,
descent of gorges… in the best natural scenery: lava
landscapes, extensive pine woods, jungle like forests,
beaches, ravines and many more.
There are specialist companies on the island that
guarantee you the perfect combination of adventure,
motivation and safety in the activities and who
will take care of all the official permits required for
protected areas.

Whale watching
The south of Tenerife is the perfect habitat for pilot
whales to live and breed. The temperate waters, the
depth and the rich food supply of the Atlantic Ocean
have attracted a resident population of about 300
individuals that live just a few miles offshore all year
round. Sightings are very frequent and to be able to
see whales a few metres from the boat and so close
to the shore in their natural habitat is an exciting
experience you will find hard to forget.
Departing from the ports of Los Cristianos and Puerto
Colón, daily boats trips sail along the south coast of
Tenerife to the area where the whales and dolphins live
and offer panoramic views of La Caleta, Las Américas
and the island of La Gomera. Whale watching trips
also leave from Los Gigantes with its amazing cliffs.
Canary Islands Fiesta
Enjoy the typical food of Tenerife with its simple, delicious
dishes made with local products and with their own special
character. Participants will be able to sample the tasty
papas arrugadas (new potatoes boiled in their jackets),
mojos (garlic sauces) and fresh fish washed down with one
of the island’s fine wines. But no Canary Island night out
would be complete without the charm of the folk music
groups dressed in their colourful traditional costumes, who
will entertain you with their typical music: “isas”, “folías”,
“seguidillas” and “saltonas”. Everyone will end up joining
in the merry dancing.
Traditional island culture is bursting with unusual colours,
flavours and aromas. The staging of an authentic Canary
Islands Fiesta in Tenerife is a superb way of experiencing
all of the traditions and offers you the chance to join in
the fun.
You can customise your fiesta even more with other
traditional features like displays of Canary Islands wrestling,
long staff combat, exhibitions of local handcrafts and cigar
rolling plus many others.

Wine tour
Centuries ago Tenerife’s wines, particularly the Malmsey
wine, achieved widespread international acclaim when
they were exported to Europe and to the British colonies in
America. They also won the praises of famous writers like
William Shakespeare or Sir Walter Scott. Today the island’s
wines have regained their international reputation and the
five appellations often win prestigious awards.
This attractive tour will enable you to cover much of Tenerife
and its historic past, visiting the Wine Museum, an old XVII
century mansion which has been restored and converted
into the island’s Museum of Wine and the Grapevine; a
traditional wine cellar where you can taste the wines plus a
state of the art wine cellar. The tour will also take you to see
the picturesque towns and villages of La Orotava, Garachico
and Icod de los Vinos, whose origins and development
have been closely linked to the production of their unusual
volcanic wines.
Teide National Park
If there is a “must see” attraction on Tenerife it is the Teide
National Park, declared as World Heritage site in summer 2007.
Just an hour away from the island’s main resorts and towns, the
excursion offers visitors the chance to enjoy the changing scenery
which becomes more and more unusual as you gain altitude.
From the banana and tomato plantations of the lowlands you
climb higher through the vineyards and potato fi elds of the
foothills until you come into the dense conifer forests.
And when you are above the clouds they look like a white sea
of cotton wool. Here you will discover the stunning landscape of
the Teide National Park dominated by Spain’s highest mountain
(3,718m), the summit of the volcano surrounded by a world of
lava and endemic vegetation: Teide Broom, Giant Bugloss, Teide
violet… The excursion takes you to 2,200 metres above sea level
and there are several different places that serve lunch for up
to 150 people. You can go by bus or in 4 x 4 jeeps and include
activities like trekking, orienteering etc.

Carnival Party
In Tenerife you can adapt and customise
this explosion of rhythm and joy with

Carnival Queens and other picturesque
characters so your gala dinner will be an
unforgettable experience. This type of
celebration can be organised any time of
year in hotels or in special venues, where
you can also stage a fancy dress party
custom made for you or choose from a
host of other options for an entertaining
and original evening out.
Tenerife offers attractive options for
organising themed dinners with a unique
local atmosphere. A spectacular and
colourful theme for any celebration is
without doubt the Tenerife Carnival, one
of the most prestigious in the world.
Golf Tournament
If you would like to organize a golf tournament for the participants on your incentives trip, Tenerife has eight superb 18 or 27 hole
courses, both in the north and south of the island.
Players with a handicap that is not low enough to be able to compete in a tournament are always welcome to take a beginners course
or a clinic on the driving range with a golf professional.
The island’s high quality golf courses are very different and great care has been taken that they respect the surroundings and blend
into the countryside. The old farm terraces, the native vegetation and other local features like black volcanic sand, often used in the
bunkers, have all been conserved. The constantly mild temperatures all year round will enable you to play golf at any time of year.

Cooking course
An original activity for an incentive event would be to stage a course in local cooking, which would
provide a few really pleasant surprises for anyone wishing to learn how to prepare some of the traditional
recipes and sample the delicious creations.
One of Tenerife’s lesser known cultural features is the local food. Its origins are Mediterranean but it has
a distinct native and Latin American influence. The cuisine is simple but tasty and with a rich variety of
flavours. It makes good use of the excellent local produce. The staple Tenerife dish is fish with mojo sauces
plus a wide range of fruit and vegetables grown locally.

Tenerife is an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and offers a huge range of options for an unforgettable
experience at sea.
Nothing beats a sailing regatta as a team building exercise. The crews, under the supervision of experts, have
to cooperate with each other to achieve the best results for their vessel.
Take a boat trip to see stunning sights like the Los Gigantes cliffs, towering 600 metres over the sea, a scuba

over 40,000 m2.
This multi-functional space, of avant-garde design, has an
airy and unobstructed main hall of 12,000 m2, a second
hall of 3,800 m2, also free of columns, a conference hall
for 334 persons and a number of smaller halls.

In the heart of Santa Cruz stands an unusual and different
location: the Tenerife Auditorio. An avant-garde building
created by the renowned architect, Santiago Calatrava,
which offers a cultural programme enjoying great prestige
at the international level.
Located beside the Atlantic Ocean and next to the César
Manrique lido, the majestic profile of the Auditorio has
become a symbol of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the
island of Tenerife. It has multiple surprising and versatile
spaces, ready to hold all kinds of events of a business
nature. It has two large halls: the great Symphonic Hall,
with capacity for 1,616 and the elegant Chamber Music
Hall, with 424 seats, as well as other internal and external

The Pirámide de Arona
Within the luxurious Mare Nostrum Resort holiday
complex, located next to the sea in the Sur of Tenerife,
is the Pirámide de Arona Congress Centre. This unusual
building is one of the largest private conference centres
in Europe, with capacity for up to 1,815 delegates.
The Pirámide de Arona contains 28 conference halls and
a 350 m2 stage which can be opened onto the complex’s
Roman swimming pool, to enjoy a gala dinner in the open
air with capacity for 1600 persons. The Hall of Mirrors
offers the possibility of installing 56 stands, organising
car presentations or gala dinners for 900 persons.
All the conference halls are equipped with the latest
technology in audiovisual systems: WIFI, simultaneous
interpreting, video-conferences, video-projector, high fidelity,
wide band communications and business centre, among
other Servicios.

Located right in the heart of the South of Tenerife, the Magma
Conference Centre is an architecturally unique multifunctional
building that is designed to satisfy the needs of any event.
Magma has halls that are divisible by means of mobile panels
which can be adjusted to different capacities. Modern
technical equipment ensures excellent results for audiovisual
presentations, lighting, sound and communications, to
which must be added quality catering Servicios, hostesses,
interpretation and decoration totally made to measure.
The main hall, which can be divided up into modules, has an
area of 2,840 m2, as well as a 300 m2 stage, and can achieve
a maximum capacity of 2,500 persons. At the entrance to the
building, there is a reception hall of 1,219 m2. On the first
floor, there is another hall with an area of 1,865 m2, where
spaces can be separated with capacity for 20 to 200 people.
Apart from the above, Magma has a number of auxiliary rooms such
as VIP or press rooms. It also has a restaurant, café and a wide area for
commercial displays. It has two large parking areas too.

Set in the heart of traditional resort Puerto de la Cruz in
110,000 square metres of sub tropical gardens, the Puerto

Bodegas Monje
In the borough of El Sauzal, at a height of about five hundred
metres above sea level, our vineyard is located on stony soil
although it is very rich, as a product of the volcano and the
passage of the years.
The family tradition of Bodegas Monje dates from 1750,
although the building is from 1983. It still has the old oak
barrels in which we still ferment and age the traditional red
wines, combining the most ancient practices with current
technology.
In our winery, we have prepared a special corner for groups
with a capacity for 100 seated people and fifty more in a
Cóctel setting. We organise celebrations, Banquetes, product
presentations, working meetings and conferences providing
you with the ideal setting for a relaxed, original and quiet
event. The participants may visit the winery and the vineyard
and also taste old and sophisticated recipes of Canarian
traditional cuisine.
Our wines are attractively coloured, with mineral and
fruity aromas, fresh, full and overflowing with life, like the
land where they are grown. All our labels are of limited
and numbered production under the Tacoronte-Acentejo
protected denomination of origin which monitors its
production and bottling.
From May 2009 the Sala de Barricas with a capacity for
80 people (art gallery, music, theatre), the Tasca-Club with
a capacity for 60 people (wine tasting, events) and new
activities for groups like workshops or theatrical visits to the
wine cellar will be available.

La Gañanía
Restaurant and catering
The farmhouse La Gañanía is in a beautiful spot between the
Teide and the sea in the northern part of the island, only 30
kilometres from Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Located in heavenly surroundings with a spring-like climate,
it offers, as well as a restaurant, rooms and gardens with
seating capacities of between 20 and 300 people, and up
to 400 people for congresses. All kinds of events can be held
here: meetings, banquets, presentations, incentive trips or
business dinners. It has the latest audio-visual equipment

La Gañanía offers quality menus in which traditional

Pirámides de Güímar Ethnographic Park
The Ethnographic Guimar Pyramid Park is the perfect venue
for conventions and congresses as they are held within a
monument of great historical and ethnographical value, full
of history and secrets, which help to illustrate the origin
of old civilizations. Located between the South and the
North of the island, 30 minutes from both tourist areas,
the park has facilities which can be perfectly adapted to all

Its auditorium, where a documentary about the pyramids is

Siam Park
Siam Park is a unique, new project located in the hotel
