It is a play based on the modern script of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest as edited by John Crowther in 2003. The play, full of wit, humour and romance, is mostly student initiated and student led. The teachers guided them when needed. The tickets for both nights were sold out. Tickets were priced at RM40 and RM20. A total of 1500 tickets were sold. The school would like to thank parents who bore with patience and generosity the heavy schedule of their children who were the cast and crew. There was also a Tempest photo booth too. The Tempest Venue : ACCPC of St Joseph’s Cathedral Date : 7 & 8 August 2015 Interact Club set up a stall to sell drinks. Interactors managed to raise RM 1000. Proceeds from the sale will be used to fund future club activities and a portion donated to a charitable organisation. The Interact Club would like to thank all benefactors who have helped us in one way or another with this fund raising activity. Cor Amoris Charity Club sold T-shirts to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake in Nepal. There were several designs to choose from. Issue 2015/8 (August) 6/17 St Joseph’s Private School, Kuching Form One Field Trip Form One students went on a field trip to Fairy Cave and Wind Cave near Bau on 16 July 2015. Students have to climb steep steps to get into the caves. The view inside the caves is amazing. Fairy Cave and Wind Cave Kuching Buddhist Village On the way back to Kuching, the students dropped by the Kuching Buddhist Village which is along Batu Kitang road. They admired the beautiful gardens and had a vegetarian lunch. For more photos, go to the school website Issue 2015/8 (August) 7/17 St Joseph’s Private School, Kuching Interact Club Joint Installation Night 2015 Interactors from St. Joseph’s Private School Interact Club attended the first ever Joint Installation Night on the 2nd of August, 2015 at the Banquet. This event was held in collaboration with four other schools, that is SMK Bandar Kuching No.1, SMK Kuching High, SMK DPHA Gapor and SM Sains Kuching. The event was held to officially install each of us as proper interactors in our respective clubs. Moreover, this event has helped us all grow and has provided a good learning experience to help us become better leaders in the interact community. The night kicked off with Samantha Jawing as one of the key speakers giving a speech that truly captured the essence of us all as interactors and our duty and responsibility in society. Then, there was a performance by fellow interactors from all schools. Issue 2015/8 (August) 8/17 St Joseph’s Private School, Kuching Interact Club Joint Installation Night 2015 We proceeded with dinner and at the same time, watched the outgoing board of directors go up on stage to receive their certificates. After that, came the official installation process. Every member was given a badge, with the presidents each receiving a medal. Next, the respective teachers-in-charge of each club of every school presented a dance. The night ended with some of the fellow sponsors and senior members of the Rotary Club gathering on stage. Finally, the closing speech was given. The night was truly special and I am sure that all of us, newly installed interactors, were very honored and humbled to be a part of such an event. Two teams of interactors from St Joseph’s Private School participated in the event which was held at Swinburne. The two teams are: Team Fusion (1) Tania Tay (Captain) Form 1C (2) Kinsella Tan Form 1C (3) Myra Wong Form 1A Team Tinker (1) Jason Sia (Captain) Form 2B (2) Freddy Yong Form 2B (3) Sie Duong Xing Form 2B This Youth Service project gives interactors opportunity to test their knowledge in a variety of subjects including science, history, geography, film television and current affairs. There are also questions on Malaysia, Rotary and Interact. The winning team of this Regional I-Quiz event will be invited to take part in an all expenses paid finals of the main I-Quiz at Sunway University in Bandar Sunway, Kuala Lumpur on Saturday 12 September 2015. Members of top six out of the eight teams at the Finals will be awarded full and partial scholarships to Sunway University. Issue 2015/8 (August) 10/17 St Joseph’s Private School, Kuching THE INTERACT CLUB OF ST JOSEPH’S PRIVATE SCHOOL FUND RAISING SALE OF BADGES Interactors from St. Joseph’s Private School managed to sell a total of 597 badges to help SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1 (main organiser) raise funds for the joint installation night on the 2nd of August 2015. Kudos to all involved!
