Sweet, Sweet Sugar Land, Texas!
There is plenty to do and lots to see in historic, Sugar
Land, Texas, a compact, thriving American city!
Founded as a sugar plantation in the mid-1800s and
incorporated in 1959, Sugar Land is located in Fort Bend
County, 20 miles southwest of downtown Houston.
Sugar Land Town Square serves as the primary
entertainment district in Sugar Land and Fort Bend
County. The district offers an array of restaurants,
sidewalk cafes, shopping venues, a Marriott Hotel and
conference center, mid-rise offices and homes, a
public plaza, and Sugar Land City Hall. Festivals and
important events take place in the plaza. The new city
hall and public plaza, a cornerstone of Sugar Land
Town Square, received the "Best Community Impact"
award from the Houston Business Journal at the fifth
annual Landmark Awards ceremony.
Next door to the district is First Colony Mall, a major
regional shopping mall that recently expanded from its
original indoor design to include an outdoor lifestyle
component, several parking garages, and new signage
that blends in with the surrounding area. The mall is
anchored by two Dillard's stores, Macy's, JCPenney,
and Barnes & Noble, along with over 130 stores.
Sugar Land is home to the minor league baseball team
Sugar Land Skeeters, a team founded in 2010 and
played its first game in 2012 at the brand new
Constellation Field, located in Sugar Land.
Sugar Land also hosts the Sugar Land Ice and Sports
Center (formerly Sugar Land Aerodrome), which served
as the practice facility for the Houston Aeros, the
American Hockey League affiliate (and top farm team)
of the NHL's Minnesota Wild. It is also open to the public
as an ice skating facility.

in hospital-based transport management and committed to the
continuing development of the hospital-based Patient Transporter. As
hospitals throughout the country embrace patient focused care
concepts and seek out leaner operations, NAHTM is at the forefront in

Just 30 miles southwest of downtown Houston, located on a 20,000-acre+ working ranch featuring historic homes, costumed
interpreters and livestock. The Park aims to educate people of all ages about Texas history and the region’s unique heritage
through programming that connects and inspires learners of all ages. Understanding the past is a key to succeeding in the
future!
Visitors to the George Ranch Historical Park leave with a greater appreciation and understanding of everyday family life
stretching from frontier Texas to the World War II era. Informal immersive experiences provide an environment that allows
each guest the time and opportunity for personal reflection. The thought provoking timeless story of the personal struggles
and triumphs of this multi-generational family resonates universally with both native Texans as well as visitors.
The George Ranch Historical Park is a non-profit institution and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in
recognition for exacting standards of excellence in every aspect of operations. Less than 5% of museums or living history sites
nationwide have received this distinction. Created in 1988, the Park is a partnership of the Fort Bend County Museum
Association and The George Foundation.
