Moving to a new country can be a very busy time. At
ASB we understand you will have enough to organise,
so we have made taking care of your banking needs
quick and convenient for you.
ASB have a specialised Korean Banking Division,
which has been established since the year 2000 and
is part of one of the largest migrant banking teams in
any New Zealand bank. Our helpful, bi-lingual team are
experienced in dealing with the unique financial needs
of new migrants.
In addition to helping you with all of your banking
needs, we can also organise a comprehensive
settlement interview, which includes helpful information
on non-banking matters useful to new migrants.

Opening your Account
ASB offers a complete range of accounts and services
to help you manage your finances. We invite you to
visit ASB and talk with one of our friendly staff about
the products and banking services that best suit your
financial needs.
You will be required to provide two forms of
identification, including a photo identification such as
your passport and one other form (e.g. birth certificate
or driver’s licence) to open your ASB account. Proof of
your home address is also required (e.g. bank statement
or utility bill).
A minimum balance of $500 for opening a new account
may apply.
How do I open an ASB account
from Overseas?
If you are intending to migrate to New Zealand and want
to open an ASB account before you arrive, ASB, with the
support of our parent company Commonwealth Bank
of Australia (CBA), has Representative Offices in main
centres worldwide.

While you may be able to deposit funds into your
account, you will not be able to operate your account
until you arrive in New Zealand and satisfy our

Withholding Tax
When you have opened your ASB account you
must establish and notify us of the New Zealand
tax status which applies to you. To determine your
tax status you can contact the New Zealand Inland
Revenue Department (IRD) at www.ird.govt.nz or seek
professional advice from your tax adviser.

Term Investments
> You choose the investment term that best suits
your needs, from 30 days to five years.
> For Term Investments longer than 6 months,
interest can be paid quarterly, six-monthly, annually
or added to the investment and paid out with the
principal on maturity. Minimum Investment amount
