O R G 1 from the president We’re excited to launch 2016 with a constellation of brilliant programs, each as bright as the next. Our New Year begins with laughter and music, as the Vienna Philharmonic features everyone’s favorite Strauss waltzes along with the dancing of the Vienna City Ballet. The long-awaited special Sherlock: The Abominable Bride premieres 1/1, marking the first time that an episode of the series has premiered on the same day in both the U.S. and the U.K. On 1/3, we begin the final season of Downton Abbey, the most popular series in Masterpiece’s 44-year history, and one of the most-watched dramas on American television. But great drama on KCTS 9 doesn’t end with Downton Abbey. The new six-part Civil War drama Mercy Street premieres 1/17. New seasons of the romantic Australian drama A Place to Call Home (1/7) and our beloved Doc Martin (1/7), and a new six-part psychological thriller, Luther (1/22), will round out the month, along with new episodes of NOVA, Nature, American Experience and more. For the best in drama, the arts, science and history, KCTS 9 is your guiding star to a world of discovery. Thank you for your support! The two collide at Mansion House, a hotel that has been transformed into a Union Army hospital. This intersection of North and South is not about battles and glory; it’s about the drama and unexpected humor of everyday life behind the front lines.
