I’m excited to have you as a valued student in this four-week training program!
In my experience, most people struggle with getting a work-at-home job because
they look for the wrong types of jobs in the wrong places. Despite what the
scammers and schemers will have you believe, you cannot sign up with a
company to type, process email or rebates, assemble junk or do surveys. Workat-home jobs are like traditional jobs; they have the same names (assistant,
teacher, customer service rep, etc) and you need skills and experience to get
them. An important concept to remember as you embark on your work-at-home
job search is that....

Another issue many work-at-home job seekers face is creating an impressive
application. Below is a sample of the types of email I receive everyday about
work-at-home jobs.

Would you hire this person? Not only is this email full of grammatical errors, but it
doesn't let me know what skills and experience the person has or what job he's
referring to.
In this four week course you're going to learn about work-at-home jobs, how and
where to find them, and how to apply so that you can get hired. Finding and
getting a job is hard enough, but looking for the wrong jobs and submitting
lackluster applications makes getting hired nearly impossible.
Before we begin with the lessons, there are three important things that I need to
mention to you...

Now that we’ve gotten the housekeeping out of the way, let’s get to the reason
why you’re here … the lesson!
Work-At-Home Jobs
I frequently get emails from people who tell me they can't find legitimate workat-home jobs. But every week day I search for jobs to post at
WorkAtHomeSuccess.com and in the newsletter and I never have any trouble
finding them. Why? Because I know what I'm looking for. As I've already
mentioned, too many people start their work-at-home job search typing "work at
home jobs" in the search engine or searching for typing or other jobs they can
sign up for. These methods not only don't work, but they usually result in finding
scams and crazy schemes.
There are hundreds of work-at-home jobs available right now, but you're not
going to find them if you're hoping to simply sign-up for work, do menial jobs that
don't exist in the "real" world, and make thousands of dollars a week. Instead,
conduct your work-at-home job search just as you would a traditional job search
by focusing on your skills and abilities and finding employers who need you. I
cannot stress this point enough. Employers with legitimate work-at-home jobs
aren't looking for people sit around at home. They want skilled employees who
can do a specific job.

Don't worry if you don't think you have the skills or experience for these jobs. This
is just a small sampling of the jobs I find every day.

I even find jobs that require watching TV, such as captioning. Or jobs that require
knowledge in unique areas such as gardening, fashion or celebrity news.
Requirements to Get Hired
Employers are going to indicate in the job ad what
they're looking for in an employee; however, it's not
always a degree or specialized training. In fact, you
can use experience you've gained in hobbies and
volunteer work as long as you can show you have the
knowledge and skills the employer wants. For
example, everything I've learned about building
websites or using WordPress I taught myself. Even
though I don't have specific training in web design, I
have been paid to build websites.

Watch out for companies that
require you to buy software,
equipment or materials to get
hired. Some scammers make their
money selling "job" stuff.
Legitimate employers may want
you to have specific materials, but
it won't care where or how you
get them.
That doesn't mean you don't need any education or experience. Employers will
want employees with specific skills and experience, even if it isn't gained through
education or work experience. Many employers will want a H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
Several will ask for a criminal history background check.
For home-based positions you may be required to have specific equipment. To
work virtually you need a computer, but many employers will want high speed
Internet access. Customer service jobs may require a headset and separate phone
line. Some jobs will want you to have specific software that you'll be responsible
for getting. At the minimum you should have a computer, high-speed Internet and
Microsoft Word (depending on the job you may be able to use Open Office).
Work-At-Home Job Search Step One
The first step in any job hunt is to know what you have to offer an employer. That
starts with inventorying your skills and experience. Use the attached worksheet to
write down all your work, volunteer and other skills and experience that could be
used in a job.
When listing all your skills and experience, don't leave anything out, even if it
seems insignificant. The virtual work-world is filled with unique, unusual and even
fun job types in a whole host of areas. You never know when all that trivia or
knowledge of carburetors will come in handy.
