sis | sign information systems is a specialized planning agency for
information, communication and object design as well as a supplier of
guidance and information systems and high-quality architectural signs.
sis is a limited liability company entered in the Commercial Register of
the Local Court of Hamburg under 110271 AG Hamburg

• sis employs with expertise in architecture, graphic and
orientation design, digital signage as well as electronic wayfinding
expertise, project management and onsite support.
We plan, design, create and install analog and digital orientation and
information systems for public and private projects. Our company is
known for its excellent products and superior rapport with builders,
architects, project managers and customers. From start to finish, we are
experts in planning, designing, installing and updating wayfinding and
orientation systems that are user friendly, cohesive and intuitive.
Founded in 1997 by Gerhard Schlüter (B.Sc. Engineering, CEO), the
company has established a national and international reputation as
trustworthy experts in the field of planning and implementing analog
and digital wayfinding systems.
sis is based in Hamburg, Germany, with offices in Berlin as well as Abu
Dhabi where sis partners with KN international (www.kn-uae.com).
The company’s clients are from diverse areas such as health care, trade
and retail, museums, transportation, the hotel and convention industry,
parks and public gardens, recreational areas and shopping centers.
We develop wayfinding systems and integrate existing elements to
create cohesive analog and digital (2D/3D) signage systems.

With our local partner KN International in Abu Dhabi, a
company with a staff of 90 employees, we established a
partnership and have a permanent office in the city centre of
Abu Dhabi.
Therefore we are able to offer all work stages of a project on site
from analysis and planning to implementation.
KN International is a German-based International Architectural
and Consultancy Office established in Abu Dhabi (UAE) in 2006
with a project background and more than 30 years of project
management experience in such areas as:
• Outdoor/indoor landscape architecture and related
engineering
• Attraction architecture, e.g. Landmark Objects, hotels,
science centers etc.

We offer signs and information systems ranging
from pillars and information columns to signposts,
floor indicators and even door signs.
The signs and systems are made of aluminium,
stainless steel, glass or acrylic glass. Whenever
possible, we use systems which are compatible and
interchangeable with each other and can still be
reordered 10 years from now.
There are virtually no limits to the design and
colour, as well as the realization of the lettering by
screen print, high performance films, digital print
or PC. We are increasingly using removable
media which our clients can label themselves using
a computer with formats, ranging from door signs
to signposts or information columns in the
standard DIN formats.

smartphone via QR-code. This system complements the static orientation and signage system by
way of a dynamic, interactive system in a two or
three- dimensional space and structure.

part of the expansion of the Hamburg
Airport, completed in 2010.
The project included site map graphics,
parking area guidance systems, and dynamic displays with a total of 1200 signage
elements.
In late 2013 sis was assigned to conceive, plan and install the tender

Hamburg. sis was contracted for the complete

sis created a three-dimensional, interactive patient and
visitor information and guidance system for the Alice
Hospital in Darmstadt, Germany, seamlessly linking an
analog signage system with digital wayfinding modules.
Guide3D Kiosk
At the main entrance of Alice Hospital, visitors find a touchcapable kiosk system with a large 3D overview of the premises,
a selection among twelve languages and the possibility of
activating the mode for accessible navigation to avoid stairs
along the routes. Two search sections list attending physicians
and an alphabetic list of destinations.

Smartphone Guidance System
The 3D-guidance system shows the path to 181 destinations
from five starting points as a three-dimensional top view
(bird‘s eye perspective). It provides information on distance
and duration.
Guidance is offered for the most important buildings (indoor)
and the hospital premises (outdoor). Before actual navigation
starts, the target building is highlighted in the overview, then
the routing starting perspective is displayed.
The QR-code permits displaying the path description on a
smartphone as well.
