A big Thank you to all of you who attended the 600th
Show Celebration and the Andy Concert. Everyone had a
great time and enjoyed the music of Guenther Behrle
and Andy! Thank you to both of you for your support of
the Las Vegas German Show!!
The next Karneval meeting for the Las Vegas Vagabonds
will be on May 4 at 2pm. The meeting will be held at the
German American Club. If you are interested in Karneval
and its traditions or just looking to have fun please feel
welcome to stop by. Even though Nov. 11 seems a long
time from now it usually arrives very quickly when
things are being planned. We will be discussing many
things including next years orden design.
These two functions were a Fundraiser for the program
and all proceeds were given to the Las Vegas German
Show. Thank you to all of you who donated Food and or
money! It really helped to keep us going!
A special thanks to the crew at the club, Beverly, Karin
Snooks and Michelle for putting on a great Buffet for
the 600th Show, and to Rose for helping us with the
sound at both functions and for the room set ups. The
GW Schleidt Company (Frank, Willi and Helga Schleidt)
donated some real awesome things for our raffles,
thank you so much!!
And Thank You to Ole Borresen for donating all those
beautiful orchid and rose bouquets for the raffle and for
the helpers, it must have taken you hours to put them
together, thank you Ole!!
What do the 3 crowns and 11 tears represent in the coat
of arms on the flag of Koln? First guess might make you
say The 3 crowns represent the Dreigestirn, who are the
Jungfrau, the Prinz and the Bauer, ( the young virgin,
prince and farmer). The 11 tears would represent the
Elferrat or the 11 men on the Council of the Kingdom of
Fools.

It would be a good guess but in reality the 3 crowns
represent the 3 Magi from the story of the Birth of
Christ. Their bones are said to reside in the golden
sarcophagus within the Koln Cathedral. The 11 tears or
ermin tails remind Koln of their patron saint, Saint
Ursula who was martyred by Attila the Hun with 11,000
virgin followers. ( The original legend says 11 but whose
counting?)
With much appreciation,

Roller Derby Ramona and Blackjack Frankie want your
quarters! All five of them. A buck 25 gets you dealt into
the Friday night 31 game where you can make some
great friends, get to know the club and sit far apart
from your spouse. The assumption that you will cheat
and the snark flies through the air at this table starting
at 430pm. Bring your game and your sense of humor; it
should fit right in! Be wary of the close friendships you
may make.... They are just getting to know your
weaknesses.
If snark is not your cup of tea, try a friendly game of
Cribbage or Pinochle. Fare is potluck, so bring it!

Maifest
Saturday, May 3
On Saturday, May 3rd, the German-American Social Club
will hold their annual Maifest. After Karneval, Maifest is
the first big celebration to welcome spring. It is
celebrated differently in all regions of Germany, but
always with food, beer or wine (Maibowle) and a May
Dance. You will find all of that when you come to our
club on May 3rd! The Dummkopfs will be providing the
music. The Schuhplattler Group will be performing and
on the menu are Haxen ($15) and a Maifest Platter of
Sausage and Smoked Pork Chop ($12). Don't miss this
fun event and make your reservations by April 30th!
