Thanks to your support, proceeds from the Gray
Cup Invitational Golf Classic will help fund
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey’s
Land Preservation, Stewardship and Education
programs.
It is my pleasure to once again welcome you to the
Seventh Annual Gray Cup Invitational Golf Classic on
behalf of The Rogers Family. Although we are not here
in person, we are so pleased that your attendance
here today supports The Land Conservancy’s statewide, award-winning programs in land preservation,
stewardship and education throughout the state.
As a proud member since 1993, The Land
Conservancy of New Jersey is very important to me
and my wife, Mollie. We encourage you to get involved
and do more to help make New Jersey an even better
place to live, work, and raise a family.
We wish you a memorable day of exceptional golf
while learning more about The Land Conservancy of
New Jersey. From open space preservation, Partners
for Parks project and scholarship programs, the
Conservancy’s continued success depends on you and
benefits us all.
Gray Rogers
Trustee Emeritus and past Chairman of the
Board of Trustees
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
I am honored to welcome you to the 7th Annual Gray
Cup Invitational Golf Classic benefiting The Land
Conservancy of New Jersey. This extraordinary event
was named in honor of C. Graydon Rogers, Trustee
Emeritus and past Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Today the Land Conservancy is a nationally accredited
land trust and a state leader in land preservation and
conservation. Gray and Mollie have been instrumental
in this remarkable progression.
With admirable leadership and enthusiasm, Gray
proved his passion for conservation with a strong
commitment to open space preservation, stewardship
and education throughout the state of New Jersey
during his tenure as Chairman. His efforts benefit
us today and Gray continues to be a role model and
inspiration for everyone touched by The Conservancy.
Thank you for joining us to honor Gray and the Rogers
Family and to help us preserve and protect the best of
our beloved state.
Jack Fritts
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
I’d like to welcome you to the Seventh Annual Gray
Cup Invitational Golf Classic to benefit The Land
Conservancy of New Jersey. As The Conservancy
continues to grow, so does our ability to provide
support for community projects, large and small,
that need our attention. We recently purchased a
flood prone home in Oakland, in Bergen County.
This 12,000 square foot lot is the first closing in the
Roosevelt Boulevard Park Expansion Project. With
The Conservancy’s assistance, the homes located
within the flood plain will be demolished and the
parcels will be added to the adjacent Truman Field
Park, thus removing vulnerable people from harm’s
way and expanding Oakland’s public park.
These efforts are a direct result of your continued
support, and with it we anticipate achieving many of
the goals The Land Conservancy has planned in the
near future.
Please enjoy a wonderful day of golf and I hope you
take the opportunity to meet the people that make
The Land Conservancy work – our staff, Trustees and
supporters. Thank you for being here today and for
supporting preservation efforts in our beautiful state of
New Jersey.

The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
Founded in 1981, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
is a member supported non-profit land trust whose mission
is to preserve our state’s critical land and water resources,
conserve open space, and inspire and empower individuals
and communities to protect our beautiful natural lands and
environment. Our work is accomplished through our major
program areas: Land Preservation, Planning, Stewardship, and
Education.
The Land Conservancy has preserved over 21,800 acres of
land in New Jersey, an area larger than Manhattan, and now
owns over 1,300 acres, including our South Branch Preserve.
Through our Partners for Greener Communities Planning
Program, we have completed 113 Open Space, Farmland,
and Trails Plans and have helped towns secure more than
$232 million in county, state, and federal grants for their land
preservation projects.
Since its inception, our award-winning Partners for Parks
Stewardship Program has put 8,790 corporate and civic
volunteers to work on over 500 community service projects in
local parks, enhancing thousands of acres of parkland across
New Jersey. Through our Education Program, The Land
Conservancy has awarded over $225,000 in scholarships to 50
future environmental leaders in the state and hosted 76 college
interns.
In 2009, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey became the
first land trust in New Jersey to receive accreditation from The
Land Trust Accreditation Commission, meeting the highest
quality standards for protecting open space, upholding the
public trust, and ensuring that our conservation efforts are
permanent.
Overall, The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
has worked in 100 municipalities in 13 counties,
benefiting millions of residents throughout the
state. Our efforts are helping to create healthy,
livable and sustainable communities today, and
for generations to come.

The Rosalie Lavinthal Volunteer of the
Year Award
“The purpose of life is to enjoy every minute,”
was a quote that Rosalie kept taped to
the computer on her desk at The Land
Conservancy. That quote simply and eloquently
embodied her spirit and the delight she found in
her life and work.
Rosalie Lavinthal worked as The Land
Conservancy’s Development Director for five years, overseeing our
Partners for Parks program and our Gray Cup Golf Invitational. It
was Rosalie’s idea for The Land Conservancy to hold The Gray Cup.
In five years, Rosalie grew the event from a mere suggestion to The
Conservancy’s largest, most visible fundraising event.
Rosalie brought a unique spirit and an unwavering dedication
to everything she undertook. But aside from being a wonderful
employee who was completely dedicated to everything about The
Land Conservancy, Rosalie was a great friend. She was beloved by
every member of our staff, our Trustees and each of the corporate
leaders she came in contact with.
In honor of her passion and commitment, The Land Conservancy
has named an award in her memory, The Rosalie Lavinthal
Volunteer of the Year Award. Each year, the award will be presented
at The Gray Cup to an individual or organization who embodies
Rosalie’s giving spirit. While nothing will ever replace Rosalie and
all that she meant to The Land Conservancy, this award allows her
spirit of service and giving to live on through our work.
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is pleased to present the
2015 Rosalie Lavinthal Volunteer of the Year
Award
to
BASF Corporation
The BASF Corporation has
been a supporter of The
Land Conservancy of New
Jersey for fifteen years.
Over 220 BASF employees
and interns have participated
in nine projects through The
Land Conservancy’s awardwinning Partners for Parks
program.
BASF has been a major supporter of The Land Conservancy of New
Jersey’s popular, annual Pedal for Preservation fundraising and
awareness-raising event, which takes place on the Columbia Trail
running through Morris and Hunterdon counties. BASF has been a
sponsor each year since the event’s inception and BASF employees
have joined as both riders and volunteers for this important
gathering.
This year the company selected The Land Conservancy of New
Jersey headquarters, located in the WildAcres Preserve, a Montville
public park, as a site for their summer interns to fulfill community
service hours. The interns completed numerous tasks both inside
and out to help maintain and improve The Land Conservancy’s office
and property, which includes a certified native plant garden.
We are delighted to present this award to BASF for their
commitment to our mission.
C. Graydon “Gray” Rogers
The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is privileged
to host our 7th Annual Gray Cup Invitational Golf
Classic to honor Gray Rogers for his many years of
outstanding service to The Land Conservancy. Gray
served for ten years on The Land Conservancy of New
Jersey’s Board of Trustees including three years as
Chairman of the Board. During his tenure, Gray had
a remarkable impact on the organization. He chaired
our “Preserve Now – Protect Forever Comprehensive
Campaign,” which raised more than $3 million for The
Conservancy. Under his extraordinary leadership, The
Land Conservancy grew from a regional land trust to a
state leader in open space preservation culminating in
the name change of the organization from Morris Land
Conservancy to The Land Conservancy of New Jersey
in September 2008.
Gray has always had a passion for the outdoors and
the natural world. Dedicated conservationists and long
time supporters, Gray and his wife Mollie are known
for their life long commitment to giving back to the
community. They established The Land Conservancy’s
Rogers Family Scholarship in 2006 to provide
scholarships to deserving college students from New
Jersey pursuing careers in an environmental field.
Now retired, Gray was a founder of the investment
management firm W.P. Stewart & Co. Inc. in New
York City in 1975. Over the ensuing 25 years he held
various management positions within the company
before retiring in early 2000.
Gray and Mollie are the proud parents of Stuart, David,
Bronnie (Parlette) and Stacy (Golding). They have six
beautiful grandchildren who bring great joy into their
lives.
