“But that’s not what
makes the difference.
It’s how it goes on the water that
really makes it unique.” The words
of Valeria Guidetti, head of the AB
Yachts’ style department since 2011,
describing the new AB145. What she
means is that the 4 4.5-metre yacht
makes just short of 43 knots without
generating any vibration, thereby
guaranteeing guests an unparalleled
standard of comfort. “It’s the result
of advanced hydrodynamic research,
our construction technologies and
the use of water jets. A philosophy
that has always been a signature
of our boats.” The AB145 splashed
in July but is the product of a long
research and design project that
began in 2013. “It’s a development
of the 140,” continues Guidetti,
“but the spaces are much larger.”
The build of the new flagship
commenced in 2014 and it is entirely
the work of the yard’s technicians
from its deep-vee planing hull to
its interiors. The aforementioned
hull comprises vacuum-bagged
Kevlar, carbon-fibre, fibreglass
and epoxy. As with all AB Yachts
Velocità massima 42,7 nodi. «Ma non
è questo a fare la differenza. È come
va per mare che lo rende davvero
unico». Per Valeria Guidetti, figlia di
Francesco, fondatore nel 1971 di Fipa
Group di cui il cantiere AB Yachts
fa parte e dal 2001 responsabile del
reparto stile del cantiere, la qualità
della nuova ammiraglia, l’AB145, è
come questo yacht di 44,50 metri
navighi a quasi 43 nodi senza
vibrazioni e garantendo un comfort
ineguagliabile. «È il risultato di
uno studio idrodinamico avanzato,
delle nostre tecnologie costruttive
e dell’impiego degli idrogetti. Una
filosofia che da sempre distingue le
nostre imbarcazioni». Sceso in mare lo
scorso luglio l’AB145 è il risultato di un
lungo lavoro di progettazione e ricerca
cominciato nel 2013. «È lo sviluppo
del 140», spiega Valeria Guidetti, «ma
gli spazi sono decisamente molto più
ampi». Nel 2014 il via alla costruzione
della nuova ammiraglia interamente
opera sia per quanto riguarda la carena
planante a V profondo e l’ingegneria
navale sia per gli interni dei tecnici
del cantiere. Una costruzione quella
dell’AB145 come sempre raffinata e
che per lo scafo ha impiegato Kevlar,
fibre di carbonio e vetroresina a base

models, these advanced composites
are held together using a special
adhesive system that eliminates
screws, rivets and other methods.
Three 2600 hp MTUs coupled
with MJP water jets provide the
propulsion. The combination of the
hull, build, weight-saving sandwich
interiors and that propulsion set-up
deliver that impressive 42.7 knots
at full throttle which eases off only
slightly to 38 in cruising mode.
Most impressively, however, there
is absolutely no vibration and very
little noise. “We wanted to put most
of the emphasis on the owner’s
quarters in the interiors and the
whole of the foredeck is dedicated
to them,” says Guidetti. “This is a
space with very direct contact with
the sea. The cabin proper has a
double berth at its centre and also
a balcony that opens out on the
starboard side. There are large side
windows and also one that faces
and opens onto the foredeck. The
latter has a sofa and can also take a

Materiali e compositi avanzati
che, come per tutti gli AB Yachts,
si abbinano a speciali sistemi di
incollaggio che hanno eliminato viti
e altri sistemi di collegamento. Per
la motorizzazione si è puntato su tre
MTU da 2600 hp ciascuno abbinati
ad altrettanti idrogetti MJP. Una
combinazione tra carena, costruzione
e propulsione che, assieme a interni
realizzati in sandwich e quindi, anche
questi, all’insegna della leggerezza,
hanno portato da un lato alla velocità
massima di quasi 43 nodi con quella
di crociera che si attesta sui 38, ma
soprattutto a una completa assenza di
vibrazioni e a un livello ridottissimo
di rumorosità. «Negli interni abbiamo
voluto enfatizzare al massimo la zona
armatoriale alla quale è riservata la
sezione di prua del ponte principale»,
prosegue Valeria Guidetti. «È uno
spazio a contatto diretto con il
mare. La cabina vera e propria, con
il matrimoniale al centro, ha una
balconata che si apre sul fianco destro,

not short on deck space, as attested
by a large sunning area aft with a
wet bar, a sofa and armchairs. Up on
the fly, the owner opted for freestanding furnishings that could
be arranged to suit requirements.
The main deck has a dining area
separate from the roomy saloon
which opens into the cockpit. Below
are a crew area forward and then
three VIPS plus a two-berth guest.
The gym can be converted into yet
another cabin. The atmosphere
throughout is warm and welcoming,
thanks to the use of limed oak
which works effectively with the
distressed wood of the floors to
enhance the feeling of cocoon-like
comfort and ease. Natural light
also plays its part as does artificial,

un ampio prendisole a poppa, con bar
e zona relax arredata con divano e
poltrone. Sul fly, l’armatore ha invece
scelto un arredamento con mobili
liberi da posizionare a seconda delle
esigenze. Gli interni, da parte loro, si
sviluppano, sul main deck, con la zona
pranzo separata dall’ampio salone che
si apre sul pozzetto di poppa.
Il ponte inferiore, con a prua la zona
equipaggio-servizi, è dedicato agli
ospiti, con tre vip più una doppia.
A queste si aggiunge la possibilità di

cabina ospiti. L’atmosfera in tutti
gli ambienti è calda e accogliente
e a questo contribuisce la scelta di
utilizzare il rovere sbiancato che si
abbina a pavimenti che nel loro legno
vissuto sottolineano la sensazione di
un avvolgente comfort. Una sensazione
che viene dall’illuminazione naturale
e da quella artificiale affidata a
realizzazioni firmate Contardi, da un
allestimento estremamente curato,
da arredi caratterizzati da uno stile
rigoroso e all’insegna del comfort e
soprattutto dalle scelte che stanno
alla base del nuovo AB145, yacht che
riassume ed esalta una filosofia che
unisce prestazioni e design per un
diverso modo di andar per mare.
