Jahkari Carpenter
Doherty High
Senior, Running Back
O
ne of the premier playmakers in the state, Carpenter finished fourth in rushing in Central
Mass. with 191 carries for 1,575 yards and 15
touchdowns as the Highlanders finished 6-5. He
was named the Division 4 Offensive MVP by the
Central Mass. Football Coaches Association. Carpenter leaves as a four-time Inter-High All-Star (two
nominations for North High, two for Doherty) and he
also surpassed the career rushing mark for the
league. Carpenter rushed for more than 1,000 yards in three of his
four varsity seasons and finished with 757 carries for 5,090 yards,
an average of nearly seven yards a carry. That obliterated the mark
of 4,269 set by South High’s Bismark Osei in 2000. Carpenter was
fourth in Central Mass. rushing as a junior with 165 carries for 1,507
yards and nine scores as he helped Doherty capture the Division 4
state title. In that 28-26 win over Dennis-Yarmouth at Gillette Stadium, he rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown, ran for a conversion
and blocked an extra point that helped seal the victory, which was
his most memorable moment. He earned the Ralph Raymond Award
as a senior for helping the Highlanders top Burncoat on Thanksgiving. He will attend prep school next year in hopes of landing a football scholarship. He is the son of Daneshe Carpenter of Worcester.
Ryan Clark
Littleton High
Senior, Offensive Line
T
he Tigers lost a number of star players to graduation from last year’s Division 6 state championship team, but somehow Littleton found itself right
back at Gillette Stadium trying to defend its crown.
Clark’s play at right tackle and middle linebacker
was a main reason the Tigers reloaded so quickly.
He led the Tigers with 116 tackles and wrapped up
a fine career with 351 tackles. Although Littleton’s
season ended with a 35-22 defeat to Cohasset in
the final, Clark said playing at Gillette Stadium twice in his career for
state titles were his most memorable sports moments, along with a
30-28 overtime win over Maynard in the regular season. Clark was
named to the Mid-Wach D all-star team and also earned a spot on
the Division 6 all-star team from the Central Mass. Football Coaches
Association. He enjoys working out and spending time with his
friends. Clark is undecided on where to attend college. He is the
son of Kathy and Gregg Clark of Littleton.

ombs made his mark in just two seasons at St.
John’s, earning nods to the Central Mass. Conference all-star team and the Central Mass. Football
Coaches Association Division 2 team both years.
Combs was named Division 2 Co-Offensive MVP by
the CMFCA after rushing 209 times for 1,514 yards
and 18 touchdowns to lead the Pioneers (8-3) to
the Central Mass. Division 2 playoffs. Last year,
Combs rushed 173 times for 1,243 yards and 16
touchdowns to help St. John’s to a spot in the Division 2 state final
at Gillette Stadium. Combs was a first-down machine for the Pioneers, averaging 7.2 yards a clip after taking the handoff in his twoyear career. The Pioneers topped Leominster for the Central Mass.
title in 2013, which Combs said was his most memorable moment
with St. John’s. Combs is also one of the top baseball players in the
state and has a scholarship to play next spring at Notre Dame.

Christopher Lindstrom with his parents, Dawn and Chris, after signing with Boston College.
Christopher Lindstrom
Shepherd Hill Regional, Senior Offensive Line
T
here’s every reason to believe Christopher Lindstrom has a promising football future ahead of him. He stands 6-foot-5 and 243 pounds and is still growing, much
like his father and uncles were at his age. His father, Shepherd Hill’s football coach
Chris Lindstrom, and uncle Dave were Boston University Hall of Famers, and both
played defensive end in the NFL. His uncle Eric was an All-ECAC defensive end at
Boston College before the Patriots drafted him in the seventh round. For the past
two seasons, Lindstrom paved gaping holes for Shepherd Hill backs, led the Rams
to the Central Mass. Division 4 championship and earned T&G Super Team honors,
while becoming the first lineman to be named Hometeam Magazine Offensive Player
of the Year. He graduated early and is heading to Boston College in January, when the Eagle program will start bulking him up to play guard and preparing him to assume a role in BC’s vaunted offensive line tradition. “Chris is a dream to coach, and he works very hard for a high school senior,” said
Ryan Dugan, Lindstrom’s older brother and Shepherd Hill’s offensive coordinator. “But in January,
he’s going to get a crash course on what hard work is. He’s going to be able to do it, but it will take
him time to get used to it.” And Lindstrom’s high school football season isn’t even over. On Dec. 30,
he played in the NUC All-American Game in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and he has also been selected to play in the Blue-Gray All-America Game Jan. 10, in Tampa, Florida. Graduating early meant
he’s not playing for the Rams’ basketball team, which he helped to the Western Mass. Division 2 final
last March, just before committing to BC. He’s missing that, along with playing doubles for Shepherd
Hill’s tennis team this spring. His most memorable moment was the Rams’ team snowball fight prior to
this year’s Thanksgiving game at Tantasqua, and he’ll always cherish the Rams’ win over St. PeterMarian to capture the Division 4 championship. He is the son of Dawn and Chris Lindstrom of Dudley.
Derek Franks II
Leominster High
Junior, Wide Receiver
T
he 6-foot-4, 180-pound Franks burst onto the scene as a junior and immediately gave
Leominster a tremendous downfield threat for its dangerous offense. He helped the
Blue Devils shake off an 0-2 start by ripping off a seven-game winning streak to jump into
playoff contention. Leominster finished 8-3 and lost to archrival Fitchburg, 7-0, in the Central Mass. Division 2 final. The Blue Devils avenged that loss a few weeks later with a convincing, 23-8 win over the Red Raiders on Thanksgiving, which was one of Frank’s most
memorable moments. Franks finished with 42 catches for 596 yards and four touchdowns
for coach Dave Palazzi’s team. He was named the Applebee’s Player of the Week for his
performance in a loss to Lowell. Franks is also a standout basketball player for the Blue
Devils and enjoys playing sports and serving as an assistant coach for area youth teams in his spare time.
He hopes to graduate college with a degree in health science. He is the son of Susan and Derek Franks of
Fitchburg.

he 6-foot-5, 265-pound road-grader
helped the Tomahawks turn their
program around in 2014, as Algonquin
Regional reached the Central Mass. Division 2 playoffs and finished 6-5 — the
first time the Tomahawks have had a
winning record since 1997. Algonquin
also earned a share of the Mid-Wach B
title. Fuce was a co-captain for the
Tomahawks and coach Justin McKay and started at
both tackle and defensive end the last two seasons. He
made 110 tackles this year and recorded three sacks.
Fuce was named to the Mid-Wach B all-star team and
was also named to the Central Mass. Division 2 squad
by the Central Mass. Football Coaches Association.
Fuce enjoys fishing and hunting in his spare time. His
uncle played football at the University of Maine and another uncle was an all-star wrestler at Providence College. He is the son of Beth and Mike Fuce of Southboro.
he 6-foot-2, 245-pound Garofano
earned a spot on the Mid-Wach C
and Central Mass. Division 5 all-star
teams after anchoring the line for the 4-7
Spartans. Garofano paved the way for
Tyler Caforio to rack up 1,300 rushing
yards for Oakmont. His most memorable
moment came during a 26-16 win over
Clinton, when the Spartans notched
their first win of the season and also gave coach Charlie
Raff his first win as a head coach. Garofano said the
game was memorable because Oakmont trailed at halftime despite a Hail Mary touchdown pass to end the second quarter. Despite the hole, the Spartans scored twice
in the third quarter and earned the win. “Me and the other
captains had to keep everyone up in order to win the
game,” Garofano said. His brother, Trevor, also played
football at Oakmont before graduating in 2011. He wants
to pursue a career in sports management. He is the son
of Barb and Michael Garofano of Westminster.
ne of the top sprinters in the area,
Jean-Guillaume translated that
speed to the gridiron, filling his highlight
reel with plenty of breathtaking runs for
the Rams this season. Despite being
hampered by an ankle injury in the second half of the season, Jean-Guillaume
rushed 118 times for 1,310 yards — a
staggering 11.1 yards per carry — and
22 touchdowns as Shepherd Hill went 10-2 before losing in a Division 4 state semifinal. Jean-Guillaume was
named to the Central Mass. Football Coaches Association all-star team. He will attend Central Connecticut
State University in the fall and play running back. His
fondest memories were helping the Rams to the 2013
Division 4 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium, and earning
Offensive Player of the Game honors in a Thanksgiving

coach John Aloisi. He was a captain for
the Colonials and earned spots on the
Mid-Wach A all-star team as well as the
Central Mass. Division 2 team chosen by
the Central Mass. Football Coaches Association. Johnson’s most memorable
moments this year came when the Colonials topped St.

complete game as a team,” and then a 26-7 win over Algonquin Regional in a Central Mass. Division 2 quarterfinal for his first playoff victory at Shrewsbury. Johnson enjoys lifting weights and playing basketball in his spare

Lunenburg this fall, setting marks in
receiving yards in a season (757), receiving yards in a game (146), receiving

touchdowns in a career (12). He was
named Lunenburg’s Offensive MVP, selected to the Mid-Wach C all-star team,
as well as to the Central Mass. Division 5 all-star team by
the Central Mass. Football Coaches Association. Kapp is
also a standout baseball player and will captain the Blue
Knights in the spring after making the Midland C all-star
team the past two years. Kapp’s most memorable moments this year came in a win over Littleton that snapped
the Tigers’ 19-game winning streak, and a 18-12 win over
St. Bernard’s on the day after Thanksgiving where Kapp
scored all three Lunenburg touchdowns. Kapp will attend
Boston University in the fall and major in business. He is
the son of Janice and Carl Kapp of Lunenburg.
he Beavers were dangerous this year
when the ball was in Reiffarth’s hands
— and that’s where it was a lot as the senior finished third in Central Mass. rushing with 205 carries for 1,731 yards and
27 touchdowns. He also led CMass in
scoring with 34 touchdowns and three
conversions, which broke the 200-point
mark (210). Reiffarth was named the Division 6 Offensive MVP by the Central Mass. Football
Coaches Association, his second time making that team,
and he also made the Colonial Athletic League all-star
team for the second straight season. Reiffarth broke
school records in career rushing yards and career touchdowns. He finished his career with 346 carries for 2,824
yards and 42 rushing touchdowns. He will attend Merrimack next year and wants to work in finance or accounting for a large company. Reiffarth enjoys snowboarding in

he engine on one of the most explosive offenses in the
state, Schofer led Central Mass. by completing 150 of 263
passes for 2,386 yards and 26 touchdowns, and also finished
10th in rushing with 147 carries for 1,306 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Rams reached the Division 5 Super Bowl for the
second straight season. Schofer was selected as the Division 5
co-Offensive MVP by the Central Mass. Football Coaches Association and was the only signal caller in the state to surpass
both the 2,000-yard passing mark and the 1,000-yard rushing
mark. He was also a standout safety for Northbridge, picking off four passes
and making 30½ tackles. His most memorable moments this year were putting
together a 12-1 season and playing at Gillette Stadium again as well as helping
his grandfather, coach Ken LaChapelle, become the winningest coach in state
history with his 324th career victory against Clinton. He is the son of Tessa and
Mark Schofer of Northbridge.
A
two-time Telegram & Gazette Super Teamer, few players
were as explosive as Wright has been for the Rockets.
Wright took aim at the state rushing record before a hip injury
limited him to just four carries in a season-ending loss to Northeast Voke. Wright finished with 249 carries for 2,607 yards and
28 touchdowns, just shy of the mark of 2,899 set by Putnam’s
Melquawn Pinkney in 2011. He blew past the Central Mass. record of 2,482 yards, set in 2000 by South High’s Bismark Osei. Wright nearly broke the Central Mass. single-game rushing
record when he racked up 419 yards on 26 carries in a win over Clinton, falling
short of the mark of 436 set by St. Bernard’s Cody Titus in 2011. Also a standout basketball player for the Rockets, Wright enjoys playing sports and working
out in his spare time. One of his fondest memories is waking up at 5 a.m. to go
work out with his teammates. He is still deciding where to play football next season. He is the son of Kim and Mark Wright of Auburn.

starting quarterback. This season he completed 97 of 156 passes for 1,346 yards and 15 touchdowns. Boutwell is also a standout basketball and baseball player for the Patriots and hopes to study
criminal justice in college. His father was a former captain for North Middlesex in 1981 and also a former Telegram & Gazette all-star. Boutwell’s most memorable memories came this year when his team
upended Doherty, the reigning Division 4 state champions, in the season opener and when he threw
for 216 yards and four touchdowns in a victory over sixth-ranked Shrewsbury in November. He is the
son of Susan and John Boutwell of Townsend.

Red Raiders shake off an 0-4 start to finish 6-6 and capture the Central Mass. Division 2 title. Fitchburg fell to Longmeadow in a state semifinal and again to Leominster on Thanksgiving, but the Red
Raiders’ 7-0 shutout of the Blue Devils in the Central Mass. final was his most memorable moment of
the season. Flowers made 40½ tackles for coach Dan Walker and picked off three passes despite
most opposing quarterbacks never looking his way. Flowers also was the engine of Fitchburg’s offense, amassing 1,131 all-purpose yards and scoring 16 touchdowns. He was named the Division 2

guiding St. John’s to the Division 1 Central Mass. title as a star point guard. He’s the latest in an athletic family, as his older brother, Jonathan Winbush

he 6-foot, 170-pound Melifonwu capped a stellar season for

Melifonwu helped Grafton reach

within two points of a winning season after an overtime loss to Millbury on Thanksgiving. Statistics can’t tell the whole story with Melifonwu, as few opposing quarterbacks bothered to look
his way on defense. With his help the Indians
closed out the season with three wins in their final
five games, including a playoff win over Nipmuc.
Melifonwu is also a standout basketball player and

team this season and was a Mid-Wach A
All-Star. She will also captain the Tomahawks’ basketball team this winter and
serves as the manager of the boys’ volleyball team in the
spring. Carens’ most memorable moments of the season
were matches against rival Westboro. In the first clash,
she recorded 22 kills in a three-set loss, but was proud of
her team for coming back in the second game and drawing the Rangers to four sets in a loss. Carens serves as
class secretary and will study occupational therapy at
Worcester State in the spring. She is the daughter of
Nancy and Sean Carens of Northboro.

he 5-foot-11 Debreceni captained
coach Lisa LaPierre’s team to a 20-2
record and the No. 1 seed in the Central

tournament quarterfinal win over Norton,
Debreceni served an ace for game point,
a moment she lists as her most memorable of the season. That gave GrotonDunstable a spot in the semifinal where
its season ended with a loss to Westboro, but not before
having already earned the Midland B regular-season title.
The Crusaders finished with a 15-0 league record. Her
exploits earned Debreceni league MVP and all-star honors this season. She also is a member of the Crusaders’
golf team in the spring. She spends a lot of time with music in her spare time, and hopes to eventually make a career in the music business. She is the daughter of Karen

though, including winning the district tournament in
2012, an accomplishment that still ranks as her most
memorable. She served as captain this season and also
plays on the varsity basketball and softball squads for Millbury. DiDomenica will attend Boston University next fall

falling, 3-1, to Hopkinton. The Rangers went 100 in the Midland A to win the league championship and Scioletti
was named league MVP. Also this season, she was named to the
Massachusetts Girls’ Volleyball Coaches Association All-State

American Volleyball Coaches Association Phenom List and was
a MaxPreps player of the week. This was her third year of varsity
play, helping the Rangers to the state semifinal as a freshman
and the state final as a sophomore, which she lists as her most
memorable sports moment. In her spare time, Scioletti enjoys
swimming, poetry and spending time with friends. She hopes to

first time the Patriots had reached
the postseason in seven years. Beyond her exemplary team-first attitude, Osborne’s also accumulated some impressive personal stats. She finished
the season with 123 kills, served at 89 percent with
44 aces and recorded 32 blocks. Those numbers
helped make her a Midland B All-Star. She is also a
member of the North Middlesex basketball squad.
Osborne is looking to attend either Keene State or
UMass and study early childhood education. She is
the daughter of Kathleen Osborne of Ashby.

year, she registered 132 kills, 64 blocks and 41 assists. Those numbers helped Donna
Coonan’s squad to a 21-3 overall record as it repeated as Central Mass. Division 3 champion, reaching a state semifinal for the second straight season. Also a member of the Sutton track team, Reinold has been a Dual Valley Conference all-star in volleyball, indoor
track and outdoor track. She was a Telegram & Gazette Super Team member last winter
after the indoor season and currently holds the league indoor high jump record at 5-4.
She is the daughter of Beth Reinold and Thomas Reinold of Sutton.
