Southern Bolivia Explored
Southern Bolivia Explored
Full of surprises, southern Bolivia is a land of breathless superlatives and impressive records. It can boast the
world’s highest navigable lake, its largest expanse of salt flats and its highest capital city. It is also home to the
stunning wildlife-rich wetlands of the Bolivian Pantanal, an area usually more commonly associated with
neighbouring Brazil. With time to visit each of these spectacular settings, this focused itinerary begins
amongst the highlands of La Paz, where you will have a chance to enjoy its rich mix of mestizo architecture,
fascinating ancient ruins and dramatic landscapes, before driving on to the shores of Lake Titicaca. Swapping
the high plateau for the salt flats of Uyuni, you’ll then drive across the surreal landscapes of the Southern
Altiplano, visiting Andean villages and lagoons along the way. Flying down to Puerto Suarez, you then enter
the unspoilt landscapes of the Pantanal, where you will explore one of the richest wildlife areas on earth by
boat, vehicle and on foot, before ending your journey in the bustling city of Santa Cruz.
