WELCOME TO BOROVETS!
THE RACE GOES ON.
Borovets celebrates 120 years of active history all the way through 2016!
The first winter resort in Bulgaria - Borovets, is located at 1300m altitude on the northern slopes of the Rila mountain, at the very foot of the highest
peak of the Balkan Peninsula – Mount Musala (2925m). The resort has a royal pedigree starting from 1896 when the summer residence of Tsar
Ferdinand I of Bulgaria was built here. Today Borovets celebrates 120 years as one of the top mountain destinations on the Balkans.
The first race from the FIS Calendar in Bulgaria took place in 1974 in Borovets. As of today, the resort has hosted eleven European and two World Cups.
Borovets is also home to the Bulgarian ski legend Petar Popangelov who grew up, trained and brought his European and World Cup trophies here. One of
the most famous ski slopes in ski centre Yastrebetz carries his name today.
- Ski area: 3 interconnected ski centres with 58km of slopes for alpine skiing and snowboarding and 35km of cross country trails. 8 pistes equipped with
state-of-the-art lighting for night skiing. 1 gondola lift, 4 quad chair lifts, 9 drag lifts and 1 carpet lift with capacity of 15000 p/hour.
- Snow: The ski season in Borovets lasts about 5 months. When the weather is not on our side, we have sufficient snowmaking equipment: 160 snow
guns to cover about 60% of the ski zone, while the highest ski centre Markudjik relies on snow-retention facilities.
- Family and kids: Sport and fun are in perfect balance in Borovets. For their first steps in skiing, children between 4 and 7 years old are well taken care
of in the special kids park “Borokids”, while our kindergarten provides a full day care for the younger ones. More than 150 experienced ski and snowboard
instructors for all levels offer top-notch service at Borosport Ski School.
- Freestyle and freeride: 2 terrain parks - Snow Park Borosport in ski centre Yastrebetz and Promo Park Borosport in Central Borovets, attract fans of
freestyle skiing and snowboarding of all levels, high-adrenaline adventures and fun events. Ample freeride options – Borovets welcomes you to test
your limits!
- Accommodation: Variety of accommodation options, suitable for every budget and taste; ski-in/ski-out hotels and chalets; special offers and group
discounts.
- Food: Restaurants, pubs, taverns and bars offer fresh, local, seasonal dishes, as well as international favourites at unbeatable prices.
- Party: Bustling bars, pubs and discos. We bet you’ll love the games at the Casino “International” in the Rila Hotel!
- Easy access: With close proximity to the main highways, Borovets is only 70km away from Sofia and its international airport and 101km away from
Plovdiv.
