NEWS AND EVENTS FOR ADULTS
July / August
The assassination of john f. kennedy
Air Force One touched down
in Dallas at 11:30 am on
November 22, 1963. On board
was President John F. Kennedy.
Within minutes, the President
and his wife Jackie took their
places in the rear seat of the
presidential limousine and
joined a motorcade that would
escort America’s leader to his
death. Hear from a local scholar
as he traces the route and sites
of this infamous day. Page 5

The assassination of john f. kennedy with Christopher E. Kinsella
Thursday, August 21
This discussion will cover the activities leading up to the
event and some of the more important questions that
still leave many Americans suspicious about the events
of November 22,1963. Assistant Professor Christopher
Kinsella, has walked the entire motorcade route in Dallas,
visited the floor of the book store depository where
Oswald shot from, examined the infamous Lincoln
limousine, and stood in the space on Air Force One
where Jackie Kennedy sat near her husband's coffin.

Elementary? Maybe for Sherlock Holmes but how will you
fare when you try to solve a captivating, original murder
mystery in true 19th century London fashion? The legendary
sleuth of Baker Street, ahead of his time, used trivial
observations of evidence to solve the most baffling mysteries.
Sherlock Holmes' techniques changed the way police work in
the real world, lighting the way to modern forensics.

The Great War: Women and Fashion in a World Transformed
explores the changes that led to the transformation of
women's fashion. In addition to the loss of lives, there was
tremendous technological, social and political upheaval.
Women made great strides towards equality. Gone were the
petticoats and rigid whalebone corsets and in their place were
slim, clean lines and serviceable suits. Enjoy the fashions of
Downton Abbey. Lunch at Pufferbelly Ltd. on your own.
The hottest must-see presentation in Branson, Missouri is
coming to Ohio. See this unforgettable show of Country,
Bluegrass, Big Band, Cajun, Broadway/Movie Tunes, Pop,
Jazz, Swing and Classical, all melded with class, warmth,
humor and professional perfection. His inspirational story
is the “stuff ” that dreams are made of. In 1990, Shoji built
a 2000 seat theatre in Branson. His popularity has grown
steadily and his Branson show is considered to be among the
most successful. You won’t want to miss this special show.

Written by Lillian Hellman, The Little Foxes, tells the story
of when the Hubbard siblings have the chance to strike it
rich, not even the ties of blood or marriage are safe from
their cold calculations and elaborate schemes. Cleveland
Playhouse’s 99th season is being launched with Lillian
Hellman’s delicious drama of ambition and greed in the
Deep South that warns us to keep our friends close – and our
relatives closer.
It began as one man’s story – became everyone’s music – and
is now Broadway’s musical. Motown the Musical is the true
American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s
journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music
mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael
Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown
shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to
the same beat.

Wednesday, July 2
Monday, August 11
As good as he was as a football player, Al “Bubba” Baker
might be an even better barbecue king. If you’re looking for
fall-off-the-bone-tender, look no further than the patented
De-boned Baby Back Rib Steak. This is an actual slab of
ribs where through his process you will be able to just slide
those bones right out, leaving the tender meat to be eaten
with a fork and knife. As seen on SHARK TANK!
This five star restaurant boasts a sophisticated, urbane
environment reflective of its cuisine and lakeside setting.
The unique building architecture is designed to resemble
the hull of a luxury liner cruising along Lake Erie. White
table cloths, a dining room with elegant natural finishes
and a delicious contemporary menu all contribute to the
spectacular views of the Cleveland skyline.

An elderly Irish woman who gave birth
as a teenager while she was working at a
convent. The Catholic Church had the
child adopted, and now, decades later,
Philomena is introduced to Martin
Sixsmith. He agrees to help Philomena
look for her son, and the trail takes
them to the United States, and brings
them face-to-face.
A doting father, Walt Disney
promises his adoring daughters that
he will bring their favorite fictional
nanny Mary Poppins to the big
screen. Little does Walt realize that
surly author P.L. Travers has no
intention of seeing her most famous
creation bastardized for moviegoers,
a fact that makes keeping his
promise a difficult endeavor.
