Colombian Fashion, Textile and Apparel Industry:
One hundred years of tradition
Developing a Fashion System
 More than 100 years of tradition, experience
and development in apparel and textile industry.
 Colombian companies, such as: Coltejerfounded on 1907, Fabricato-1920, Modelia S.A.
1940, Valher-1940, Lafayette-1942, Indulana,
Everfit -1944, Protela SA-1950, Leonisa-1956
were pioneering and led industrial development.
 The apparel and textile industries in 2010
represented 1,0% of GDP and 10% of the
manufacturing GDP.
 In 2010, textile - apparel industry production
grew more than 15% in real terms.
 Textiles and apparel exports represent 9% of non traditional Colombian
exports.
 Colombia has specialized in becoming a design and creative center in
Latin America.
 One of the most important fashion shows in Latin America takes place
in Colombia, developing the Fashion System in Colombia.

 VII Biennial Iberian-American on Architecture and Urbanism: 1,000
