Page 2 Page 2 Honoring a Job Well Done Parents, faculty, administrators and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association recognized the outstanding efforts of the Fuel Up to Play 60 student teams in Philadelphia at an awards banquet in April. Ten middle schools in the School District of Philadelphia participated in the Fuel Up to Play 60 pilot program during the past two years, creating engaging programs that impact student wellness. Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association registered dietitian, Sharon Piano, educates Washington, D.C. area dietitians about Fuel Up to Play 60 at the District of Columbia Metropolitan Area Dietetic Association meeting in April. nfL team Dietitians Speak on fuel Up to Play 60 at State Dietetic meetings National Football League consulting registered dietitians unveiled the dairy farmer-funded children’s wellness program, fuel Up to Play 60, to more than 800 registered dietitians in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania at state dietetic meetings this spring. Sponsored speakers set the stage by updating dietitians about the current child nutrition environment. NFL registered dietitians issued a call-to-action for all attendees to lead the charge to promote and implement fuel Up to Play 60 in their communities. Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association exhibited at each meeting, provided supporting materials and initiated one-on-one discussion with participants. One school tripled breakfast participation with its Bring a Buddy to Breakfast program, while other schools started walking clubs, dancing clubs, snack markets and more. Dairy farmer Marilyn Hershey of Cochranville, Pa., thanked participants with a milk toast during the banquet, while Patty Purcell, CEO of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association, assisted in honoring student teams. Key Health Professionals trained to Speak Up for Dairy On April 9, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association sponsored a media training workshop for 11 Philadelphia-area pediatricians and four pediatric registered dietitians at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
