Linda Nasset also joined

D.C, Gallagher was awarded

Professional Achievement
Award at HVA’s Annual EMS
Recognization Awards ceremony
in mid-May. He also received a
Certificate of Merit in October
2009 for his assistance at HVA’s
drive-through flu shot clinic.
The “Stars” were selected by
HVA management from a pool of
applicants who received “exceeds
standards” performance appraisals
in the past year. They also received
recognition at the mid-May event.
The AAA Stars of Life celebration
recognizes and honors dedicated
ambulance service personnel. n
The Washtenaw Community
College Foundation has named
Marianna Staples as a 2010
Honoree in their annual Salute to
Women’s Leadership.
Each year the group identifies
and recognizes members of
their Women’s Council, who
have demonstrated strengths in
community leadership, providing
an example of excellence to
the students of Washtenaw
Community College.

organizing and coordinating
The Festive Affair, exemplifies
these characteristics. Marianna
and her husband, Ken, have
established The Festive Affair to
benefit the Salvation Army family
center, which is now named in
their honor, The Salvation Army
Staples Family Center. Over the
last 18 years Marianna has helped
raise over 2 million dollars to
fund the center, which provides a
home environment to families and
individuals in the 35-bed shelter,
while they receive the help needed
to turn their lives around. n

announced it has been chosen by
Ford Motor Company to be one
of 13 new suppliers added to their
Aligned Business Framework
(ABF) for closer collaboration and
a long-term relationship. Takata’s
global leadership in developing
vehicle safety systems provides

Ogihara
America
Corporation, a Thai Summit
Group company, has been chosen
as the winner of the 2010 Energy
Saving Commercial Project of the
Year presented by DTE Energy
and The Engineering Society of
Detroit. This award recognizes a
company that has made the most
effective contribution in reducing
energy by implementing a
significant project through “hard”
equipment or technology that was
installed in 2009.
Ogihara America’s winning
project was for the installation of
a remote laser-welding cell for the
upper door of a two-piece door
assembly. Traditional resistance
welding methods for automotive
sheet metal joining consume
electricity at an alarming rate. A
spot weld, for example, consumes
over 70,000 watts of electricity
per second. A remote laser weld
consumers approximately 94%
less electricity to produce a weld
as compared to a traditional spot
weld.

at the Energy Conference and
Exhibition in Novi.

a leader in the sheet metal

agreement with Duke University
Health System to deploy the
MedHub enterprise residency
management
system
across
all residency and fellowship
programs, Graduate Medical
Education and hospital finance.
MedHub also signed an
agreement with The University of
Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
and The University of Oklahoma
at Tulsa to deploy its MedHub
enterprise
physician
trainee
management system across both
institutions to handle Medical
Students. MedHub was already
being used to handle all resident
and fellow training.
The MedHub system is an
integrated web-based suite of
modules developed to improve
communication,
information
workflow
and
reporting
for physician training and
residency program accreditation
and
institutional
Medicare
reimbursement.
MedHub’s
residency
management
system
has
been expanded to incorporate
integrated functionality to handle
Medical Schools and Medical
Students. The development of
this functionality makes available

Technology Consortium (RTC)

Melita is an internationally
recognized expert in munitions
and land warfare systems
acquisition. Given a history of
over 31 years of service in the

programs and for developing
strong relationships between
government and industry. Melita
has had various assignments as a
civilian with DoD, ranging from
hands-on technology development
to serving as a Special Assistant to
the Under Secretary of Defense
for Acquisition, and concluding
as the Director for Land Warfare
and Munitions within the Office
of the Under Secretary of Defense
for Acquisition, Technology, and
Logistics.
He has overseen a wide variety
of weapons programs from the
vertical integration of warheads,
explosives, and fuse technologies
into munitions systems, to the
development and acquisition

Huron Valley Ambulance
has received reaccredidation
by the national Commission on
Accreditation of Ambulance
Services
(CAAS)
for
its
compliance
with
national
standards of excellence. This is
HVA’s fifth reaccredidation since
their original 1993 accreditation.
The nonprofit service is accredited
through February 2013.
Originally accredited for five
years in 1993 and reaccredited in
1998, 2001, 2004 and 2007, HVA
was one of the first 21 ambulance
services in the nation awarded
this distinction. To date, 159
ambulance services in the U.S.
are now nationally accredited.
In order to be considered for
reaccredidation, services complete
a voluntary review process
that includes completion of a
comprehensive application and
on-site review by national experts
in emergency medical services.
The Commission is a
nonprofit organization that was
established to encourage and
promote quality patient care in
America’s medical transportation
system. Based in Ann Arbor,

virus. HBV is the most common
