 Items and packages in this Silent Auction Catalog are subject to change. Images are provided as a courtesy to our guests
only and are not necessarily an accurate depiction of the quality of a given item. The National Museum does not assume
responsibility for the accuracy of any description.
 Unless otherwise stated, all items and services are valid within one year from May 5, 2013. All services must be redeemed
by the listed expiration date. The National Museum and the donor cannot extend the expiration date of any service.
 Read all auction package descriptions carefully as they list specific restrictions. Please be aware. If you would like to
extend your stay, you must coordinate with the donor directly. Auction Coordinators do not make travel
arrangements.
 All items are sold “as is”, are subject to availability, and have no cash redemption value. The National Museum is grateful
to our donors, but is unable to endorse any product or service.
 The stated value of auction goods and services are good-faith estimates only and are not warranted for tax purposes.
Please contact your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of purchases and contributions. Any amount over the
stated market value of an item may be tax deductible.
 The National Museum is not responsible for lost or stolen certificates/vouchers.
 The National Museum assumes no responsibility should any of the donating establishments be unable to fulfill gift
certificates.
 All sales are final. There are no exchanges, transfers, or refunds from the National Museum or the donor.
How to Participate in the Silent Auction
 The silent auction will begin promptly at 5:00 pm on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
 Guests are assigned a Bid Number to use during the silent auction. Your Bid Number will be given to you at the
Registration Table.
 A Bid Sheet is displayed with each auction package and includes the package title, value, minimum opening bid amount,
and bid increment. You may bid on as many items as you wish.
 To bid on a package, simply write your Bid Number, Name and Bid Amount on the appropriate Bid Sheet.
 Each Bid Sheet lists a Bid Increment, which is the minimum value by which the existing bid must be increased in order to
constitute a higher value bid. All bids must be in even dollar amounts. Bids below opening minimum bids will be
increased appropriately.

The auction will begin closing at approximately 6:30 p.m. Serious bidders should stand next to auction bid sheets
until an Auction Coordinator picks up the bid sheet. Not all bid sheets are picked up at the EXACT closing
time. An Auction Official will certify the closing bids, and the highest valid bid will be declared the winner.

In the event of a contested item, the last two individuals appearing on the bid sheet will participate in a sealed “bid off.”
This “bid off” will be in written form and be administered by an Auction Official.
 Winners will be notified at their tables throughout the evening.
Payment & Pick Up
 Auction Coordinators will bring invoices to the winning bidders at their tables.
 State and local retail sales tax will be included in the final bid amount. Any other applicable taxes, licensing fees or other
consumer-related charges on any item are the sole responsibility of the winning bidder.
 All items must be paid for and picked up by the end of the evening.
 Payments may be made with cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.
Items and certificates purchased at this auction were donated specifically to support educational programs
at the National Museum and are intended for use by the purchaser. They cannot be resold.

This package for two includes five-nights lodging at Shelter Lodge, four days guided boat

Namiki Nippon Art Origami Kabuto Fountain Pen
The Kabuto, or pinwheel, is a well-known origami shape in Japanese art. The design on this pen features a colorful
May scene of pinwheels blowing in the breeze.
The Kabuto in the center is colored in rich purple hues, reminiscent of the early summer iris blossom in Japan.
Each of these pens exploits the Hira-maki-e technique, a process where very fine gold dust and pigment is sprinkled
over wet urushi resin. The deep black lacquer background forms a base for these applied colors.
The straight-line graphics of folded paper lend themselves well to this hard-edged display of color and shape. The
stylized wind, made up of silver curved lines and golden sprinkles, blows past the whirling kabuto. This is a pen to
brighten the mood and heighten the spirits.
This pen comes with a 14K single tone nib. The precision of Namiki nibs is legend. They write smoothly and
deliver a beautifully metered ink flow.

Cosentino's flagship wine holds the distinction as being the first recognized American Meritage. Punch cap
fermented and aged separately for 29 months in French oak barrels, they blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet
Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot just before bottling. Deep ruby in color, youthful with tart cherry and currants up
front, polished in the middle with pomegranate that evolves into a long spicy finish. A bright balanced wine with
structure and richness.

plus a lynx, a Florida panther, and a liger.
Most of the animals at Shambala were born in captivity, orphans, are no longer wanted at
circuses or zoos, or are given up by private owners who could no longer care for them. For
example, Shambala became the new home for Michael Jackson’s two Bengal tigers, Sabu and Thriller, after he
decided to close his zoo at his Neverland Valley Ranch in Los Olivos, California.
The animals are not wild and are human dependent for their needs. Shambala provides
expert veterinarians for care. Carefully planned diets are supplied by Natural Balance Pet

Shambala Preserve is located in Acton, California, a desert community 10 miles southwest
of Palmdale, off of State Route 14 and Sierra Highway.

Autographed Baseball
Donald Arthur "Don" Mattingly (born April 20, 1961) is a former Major League Baseball first baseman and current
manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nicknamed "The Hit Man" and "Donnie Baseball", he played his entire 14year baseball career for the New York Yankees (1982–1995).
Mattingly was named to the American League (AL) All-Star team six times. He won nine Gold Glove Awards, three
Silver Slugger Awards, and was the 1985 AL Most Valuable Player. Mattingly served as captain of the Yankees from
1991 through 1995, and the Yankees retired his uniform number after his retirement. After his playing career,
Mattingly served as a hitting coach for the Yankees and Dodgers prior to taking on his current position as manager
of the Dodgers.

Patrick Capper "Pat" Haden (born January 23, 1953) is the athletic director at the University of
Southern California. He played quarterback for the USC Trojans before playing professionally
in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams from 1976 to 1981. He is a Rhodes Scholar, was a
practicing attorney from 1982 to 1987, and was a partner at Riordan, Lewis & Haden, a private
equity firm, from 1987 to 2010. He is also known for his work as a former sportscaster,
beginning with CBS Sports in 1982, and ending his career in that field as a color commentator
for NBC Sports Notre Dame football coverage.
Lane Monte Kiffin (born May 9, 1975) is the current head coach of the University of Southern California Trojans
college football team. He previously served as offensive coordinator for the USC Trojans from 2005-2006, head
coach of the NFL's Oakland Raiders from 2007-2008, and head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers in 2009. Kiffin
was the youngest head coach in NFL history when he was with the Raiders, and is currently the youngest head
coach of a BCS Conference team in college football. He is the son of longtime NFL defensive coordinator Monte
Kiffin, who is the assistant head coach for USC.

Heaven's Memo Pad (神様のメモ帳 Kami-sama no Memo-chō?, lit. "God's Memo Pad")
is a Japanese light novel series written by Hikaru Sugii, with illustrations by Mel Kishida.
The first volume was published in January 2007, and as of September 2011, eight volumes
have been released by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint. A manga
adaptation illustrated by Tiv started serialization in the August 2010 issue of ASCII Media
Works' Dengeki Daioh magazine. An anime adaptation aired 12 episodes in Japan
between July and September 2011.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! (ロウきゅーぶ) is a Japanese sports comedy series written by Sagu Aoyama with
illustrations by Tinkle. The series is about a high school freshman Subaru Hasegawa who
becomes the coach of a grade school's girls basketball team after the high school team's captain
was suspected for being a lolicon.
The novels are published under ASCII Media Works's Dengeki Bunko imprint, and eight volumes have been
published since February 2009. Ro-Kyu-Bu! has been adapted into two manga series, an anime television series and
a PlayStation Portable visual novel.
