Sailing season got underway with Wheelbarrow Race March 15. P. 7 Club Racing Rules
Nine boats started the race from Pirates Cove on a b eautiful afternoon on the water even though there were a few rain showers. The awards P. 7-9 Fore Sail
and party from Pirates Cove Sand Bar was hosted by Nick and Linda Steen and Paula and Kenny Menck drew a large crowd. Eric Nelson was awarded first place in the racing fleet on his B-‐one. Brett Holk on Clewless took first place in the cruising fleet, followed by John Horner on Hula Girl and Bill McGarry on Chanticleer. Congratulations to all the winners. Thanks to Paul Sykes for running the race and handing out trophies and Hank Jordan and Denny Blume for their help with the marks. Thanks also goes to Nick and Linda Steen and Paula and Kenny Menck for setting up and decorating the Sand Bar. Weather for the annual Ingram Bayou Raft Up turned out great and several boats managed to spend both Friday and Saturday in the bayou. 2 6 memberships were counted at one time during the day Saturday. Thanks to Don Fuqua and Mike Graham for organizing the bonfire Saturday night. Everyone had a great time. March 1 5 was the final day to vote on the new Bylaws. They passed with no opposition and are now in effect. Thanks to everyone for their support and comments during this process. The new Bylaws are posted on www.pointyachtclub.org. The next planned event is Cheeseburger Race and Party scheduled for April 12. Registration followed by the 10:45 am Skippers Meeting will be held at Pirates Cove Sand Bar. Jack and Veda Kelly, Diane and Darryl Bunch and Roy Mortensen are hosting the party and awards ceremony at Josephine Park b eginning at 5:00 pm. Directions to the park from County Road 95 are turn east on County Road 42 (Josephine Road) headed toward Camp Dixie. The park will be on the right just before the boat launch. Everyone is asked to bring a side to go with the burgers and the club will supply beer and wine. Please be mindful of parking along County Road 42 where no parking signs are posted. There should be plenty of parking inside the park. 1 At the March Board of Governors Meeting the Property Acquisition Committee gave a detailed report of plans to construct a covered pavilion attached to the existing bathhouse structure. John Shaw is working with an engineer to complete a set of plans that can be presented to the Baldwin County Building Department as part of the required documents for a building permit. Initial plans are for a 36’ X 56’ covered pavilion. It may be necessary to reduce the width to 32’ if the engineer feels the support structure requires it. The minutes with all the details will be posted to the website as soon as they are approved at the April 8 Board of Governors Meeting. Excitement is building as we near closing on the new clubhouse site. It looks as though the process could be completed later this month. It will surely be a monumental day for Point Yacht Club and I look forward to reporting to the membership as soon as it is complete. Fair Winds, R obert Clark

Point Yacht Club hosted a raft up on a beautiful Saturday, March 22 in Ingram's Bayou. We had a mixture
of 15 sail boats and power boats that rafted and stayed the evening. Even more folks boated in for the day
and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
Special thanks to Donnie Fuqua and Mike Graham for the bon fire. A good time was had by all.
Everyone is looking forward to the next raft up at Red Fish Point on May 24. We invite all to attend.
