At the Crossroads Of Liberation, Oppression, and Solidarity The Transformation of Knowledge into Language and Action (1977) Friday January 15th, 2016 ~ Keynote Address by Gyasi Ross ~ 9am ~ Love Gym “At the Crossroads” Town Hall Panel FRIDAY 10:45am-12:15pm AND 1:30pm – 3pm A Time to Break Silence (1967) Workshop led by Sandra Guzman with Panelists Sami Atif, Jamelle Bouie, Darby Henry ’13, and Lorella Praeli Assembly Hall This town hall-style panel is an opportunity for Phillips Exeter and the greater community to listen to and ask questions about some of the most pressing stories of our time, those in which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. likely would have been deeply engaged. Sandra Guzman, award-winning multimedia journalist and interviewer (PBS’s American Masters Series, The Women’s List), will moderate this panel comprised of: Dr. Sami Atif, Instructor in Mathematics, will discuss Islamophobia; Jamelle Bouie, writer for Slate and a CBS contributor, will discuss the Black Lives Matter movement and the legacy of Katrina; Darby Henry ‘13, will discuss life at the crossroads at Exeter and her personal realization while at Yale; and Lorella Praeli, DREAMer and immigration activist, will discuss the climate of immigration reform in the United States.
