At St. Dominic, Advent was a busy time as
we worked to not only prepare our students
for final exams, but more importantly to
prepare each of our students and staff
member’s hearts for the birth of our Lord.
Many advent preparations took place in the
past few weeks at St. Dominic High School.

Annual Crusade
2015/2016
Make a difference TODAY.
Alumni and friends of St. Dominic are asked to join in the efforts to continue the mission of St. Dominic
High School by participating in the Annual Crusade.
Did you know that the cost to educate a student at St. Dominic is not fully covered by tuition? It is only through your
support of special event fundraisers and, most importantly, your charitable support of the Annual Crusade that allows
St. Dominic to provide outstanding curriculum, ensure superior extra-curricular programs, and maintain top-notch
facilities and technology.
Alumni gathered “Under the Big
Top” for Homecoming 2015 at this
year’s Alumni Barbecue. They were
treated to a hotdog dinner and fun
activities on the mezzanine. Alumni
and their families enjoyed food
and fellowship as well as a balloon
twister, carnival tattoos, the photo
booth and attendance prizes. Each
alum and their family members
also received free admission to the
homecoming football game.
Crusader Connection 3
Our alumni honorees for 2015
were the first team to win a state
title - the 2001 Girls Soccer State
Champions. Many from the team
and their families enjoyed getting
together at the barbecue and
reminiscing. Four members of the
team participated in the coin toss
at the start of the football game.
The half time show was
awesome and the weather perfect.

It was a brisk but beautiful day with over 150 runners and walkers. This family fun event is a great
tradition. The proceeds from this event is one of thenumber of ways that allow us to continue to
scholarship students to attend St. Dominic High School.
The race began with the St. Dominic Blessing prayer and the singing of the national anthem by one of
our students. Many families ran or walked with their children, babies and dogs. It was a wonderful sight
to see. Joe Haug and the Crusader mascot gave a huge hi five to all who crossed the finish line. We are
grateful to our sponsors who helped cover a majority of expenses so that more funds could go to the
scholarship fund. Special thanks to Fleet Feet for timing our race and to Tom Pini for adding music to the
event. Thank you again for being a part of this event. Funds raised will cover four scholarships for next
school year!!

WE ARE GRATEFUL TO ALL WHO HELPED MAKE THE 2015 EVENING OF
THE CRUSADER A SUCCESS. THANK YOU
Grandparents Day 2015
We were honored to
welcome close to 800
grandparents to our 12th
annual Grandparents’ Day on
November 10th. This year’s
Grandparents’ Day theme was
once again focused around
Veteran’s Day.
In addition, nearly everyone
in the room had been touched
in one way or another by our
veterans who have served. The
St. Dominic Choir, directed by
music director Greg Cissell,
sang patriotic songs that gave a
warm smile to many.
A Tribute to the Armed Forces
was a patriotic medley, calling
for those who served in each
of the five branches of our
military to stand when their
branch was called. The already
proud feeling in the room
escalated to tear filled eyes
of “thanks” as the men and women
stood when their branch was called.
A special thank yuo goes out to
all our grandparents who served our
country. The highlight of the morning
was the arrival of the grandchildren
on the mezzanine overlooking the
gym. As the grandchildren looked
over the grandparents below, they
gave them a blessing and then met
up with their grandparents to take
them on a tour of the school.
For us at St. Dominic, Grandparents’
Day provides an opportunity
to observe the unconditional
love between grandparents and
grandchildren. How blessed are
those whose grandparents are able
to share their love, wisdom, time, and
traditions.

Girls at St. Dominic donate their hair to the Children with Hair Loss
Foundation by cutting at least 8 inches and some went all the way to
14 inches of hair. This is the second year in a row that the girls have
participated in this worthy cause.
Our new service club at St. Dominic High
School, Glamour Gals, has successfully
taken off. The goal of Glamour Gals is to
provide companionship to elderly women
by visiting senior living centers to offer
them manicures and makeovers. The St.
Dominic chapter of Glamour Gals is only
the second in Missouri.

SDHS adopted eight families Christmas this year. Three
families were recently homeless and several had medical
issues. Each family was provided with $50 gift cards for
perishable groceries, gifts for each member of the family
and some “Family needs”, a box of toiletries and cleaning
supplies, and non-perishable groceries. We personally
delivered to each family.
WEEKLY MISSION COLLECTIONS:
SDHS collects weekly for a variety of charities and we average approx $300 a week for each group. Some of the 2015-2016 groups include:
H.I.S. K.I.D.S Inc- Meets the needs of terminally ill children and their families such as providing housing, transportation, food, moral
support etc while they are in the area receiving medical care for the their children.

Mary Queen of Angels- A pro-life organization that provides baby items free of charge to mothers in need. Their mission is helping
mothers chose life for their baby instead of abortion, helping decrease the abortion rate.

Immaculate Conception – Old Monroe and St.
Dominic for building homes in Haiti through
Count It All Joy, part of a charity called Partners in
Development. Erin traveled to Haiti last summer
and will be headed to Haiti to build more houses
this summer.
Annual Catholic Appeal- Helps to sustain Catholic schools, religious education, ministerial formation, and initiatives for life, peace,
and justice. Through its support of Catholic Relief Services, the Appeal serves people worldwide, without regard for religious affiliation,
whose lives are devastated by natural disasters, illnesses, wars and famines.

care communities, orphan prevention, and serving as a resource for families seeking adoption.
Walking for Wellness- Raises heroin awareness in the St. Charles County area. All proceeds of the walks go to local drug abuse
prevention and education.
SDHS Grief Support Group wore blue shirts and blue ribbons to
show support for our students who have lost a parent. The group
created a “in memory of ” banner for others to sign to share in
honoring all the loved ones we have lost. This teen grief support
group is facilitated by Preferred Family Health and meets weekly
at school.
Whole Kids Outreach- Program focuses on young families, pregnant women and children three years of age. It is a nonprofit located
