Alumni and friends of St. Dominic are asked to join in the efforts to continue the mission of St. Dominic High School by participating in the Annual Crusade. Did you know that the cost to educate a student at St. Dominic is not fully covered by tuition? It is only through your support of special event fundraisers and, most importantly, your charitable support of the Annual Crusade that allows St. Dominic to provide outstanding curriculum, ensure superior extra-curricular programs, and maintain top-notch facilities and technology. Alumni gathered “Under the Big Top” for Homecoming 2015 at this year’s Alumni Barbecue. They were treated to a hotdog dinner and fun activities on the mezzanine. Alumni and their families enjoyed food and fellowship as well as a balloon twister, carnival tattoos, the photo booth and attendance prizes. Each alum and their family members also received free admission to the homecoming football game. Crusader Connection 3 Our alumni honorees for 2015 were the first team to win a state title - the 2001 Girls Soccer State Champions. Many from the team and their families enjoyed getting together at the barbecue and reminiscing. Four members of the team participated in the coin toss at the start of the football game. The half time show was awesome and the weather perfect. Annual Joe Haug “Give Thanks” 5K Run/Walk Help Grow the Alumni Contributions. THANK YOU Grandparents Day 2015 We were honored to welcome close to 800 grandparents to our 12th annual Grandparents’ Day on November 10th. This year’s Grandparents’ Day theme was once again focused around Veteran’s Day. In addition, nearly everyone in the room had been touched in one way or another by our veterans who have served. The St. Dominic Choir, directed by music director Greg Cissell, sang patriotic songs that gave a warm smile to many. A Tribute to the Armed Forces was a patriotic medley, calling for those who served in each of the five branches of our military to stand when their branch was called. The already proud feeling in the room escalated to tear filled eyes of “thanks” as the men and women stood when their branch was called. A special thank yuo goes out to all our grandparents who served our country. The highlight of the morning was the arrival of the grandchildren on the mezzanine overlooking the gym. As the grandchildren looked over the grandparents below, they gave them a blessing and then met up with their grandparents to take them on a tour of the school. For us at St. Dominic, Grandparents’ Day provides an opportunity to observe the unconditional love between grandparents and grandchildren. How blessed are those whose grandparents are able to share their love, wisdom, time, and traditions. 6 Crusader Connection St. Dominic Embraces 2015 School Theme Girls at St. Dominic donate their hair to the Children with Hair Loss Foundation by cutting at least 8 inches and some went all the way to 14 inches of hair.
