FALL-WINTER 2014 NEWSLETTER
Note from the Board
The Trustees of the Pulteney Free Library invite you, your family and neighbors and friends to attend
the Library’s Annual Meeting and join in a Community Celebration in honor of Barbara Radigan. Earlier this month, Barb received the very first “INNOVATVE LIBRARY DIRECTOR” Award from the
Southern Tier Library System!
The meeting will be on SATURDAY November 15, at 1:00 PM, in the Town Hall Meeting Room.
Please note the day and time change from prior years.
The Annual Meeting will begin promptly at 1:00, with a short report about the past year’s successes and
challenges. You will have a chance to hear about plans and prospects for the Pulteney Free Library
Building project and meet the Trustees and Building Team Members. We will honor staff and volunteers, and give special recognition to our Barbara and to some of our very active friends from the community. A new Trustee will be elected, also.
After the business is completed, the Celebration will continue with photo displays, tasty treats, cider and
coffee, and of course CAKE! SAVE THE DATE: NOV. 15.
Alise Irwin, President
We’ve had our usually busy summer with artist workshops and our Summer Reading
Programs. We had 50 kids sign up and read 1,391 hours. They earned 27 movie tickets,
22 books, and many, many prizes. There were 6 who finished all 4 records which is 120
hours. That’s motivation. We had 41 adults read 420 books in July and August. The winners and sponsors are listed inside. Thank you to the Pulteney Fire Department for donating Breakfasts for our drawing. There were 46 people who entered the Breakfast drawing.
The Library is receiving a Southern Tier Library System Coordinated Outreach Services grant. We will be hosting a trainer from Workforce NY to help community members
that are entering or re-entering the job force. Sessions will include resume writing and job
applications. Information will be available at the Library, posted on our web page, and on
WQKA 92.9fm.
The Library and the Fire Department Auxiliary will be hosting Breakfast with Santa
on December 13 at 9:00 to 11:00. Admission is a donation of a non-perishable item to the
Prattsburgh Food Pantry.
Don’t forget our Annual Meeting, celebrating the Library and our volunteers on Saturday November 15 at 1:00 pm.
