FALL-WINTER 2015 NEWSLETTER
Congratulations to Rita Finley for winning Southern Tier Library System’s Outstanding Advocate for Libraries Award
for her many contributions to the Pulteney Free Library. We appreciate all the time and efforts she has spent working for the
Library: as Trustee, President, Newsletter editor, and organizer of the Library’s Vote Yes campaign. This award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the development, improvement or expansion of library service to the residents of the Southern Tier
Library System. Thank you Rita for all you’ve done for the Library.
Thank you to the Fred & Harriett Taylor Foundation for a grant for books and materials. We also want to thank the
Coordinated Outreach Services Advisory Council for their grant for two iPads. These iPads will be used in demonstrating the
benefits of using apps on iPads to provide brain stimulation for people with neurological conditions. The app MIND uses art and
music to engage patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, essential tremors, stroke, and traumatic brain injury, in
emotional and physical activities.
Thank you to the Hammondsport Rotary for funding a new digital projector. Using the projector we’ll be able to demonstrate apps on the iPads to a group.
Inside the newsletter is a list of the sponsors and winners of our adult Summer Reading Program. Thank you to all our
sponsors for making this such a great program.
The Library and the Pulteney Firemen’s Auxiliary are having our annual Breakfast with Santa on December 12 from
9:00 to 11:00. Admission is donation to the food pantry of one non-perishable item per person.

AT THE LIBRARY’S ANNUAL MEETING
The Trustees of the Pulteney Free Library invite you, your family and neighbors and friends to attend the Library’s
Annual Meeting and join in a Community Celebration in honor of Rita Finley. In October, Rita received the Outstanding Advocate for Libraries Award from the Southern Tier Library System!
The meeting will be on SATURDAY November 15, at 1:00 PM, in the Town Hall Meeting Room.
The Annual Meeting will begin promptly at 1:00, with a slide presentation of our year in review.
You will have a chance to hear about plans and prospects for the Pulteney Free Library Building project and meet the
Trustees and Building Team Members. We will honor staff and volunteers, and give special recognition to Rita and to

After the business is completed, the Celebration will continue with tasty treats, cider and coffee, and of course CAKE!
