PFL Winter 2015 - Pulteney Free Library
PULTENEY FREE LIBRARY PO BOX 215—PULTENEY, NY 14527 (607) 868-3652 www.pulteney.org FALL-WINTER 2015 NEWSLETTER Congratulations to Rita Finley for winning Southern Tier Library System’s Outstanding Advocate for Libraries Award for her many contributions to the Pulteney Free Library. We appreciate all the time and efforts she has spent working for the Library: as Trustee, President, Newsletter editor, and organizer of the Library’s Vote Yes campaign. This award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the development, improvement or expansion of library service to the residents of the Southern Tier Library System. Thank you Rita for all you’ve done for the Library. Thank you to the Fred & Harriett Taylor Foundation for a grant for books and materials. We also want to thank the Coordinated Outreach Services Advisory Council for their grant for two iPads. These iPads will be used in demonstrating the benefits of using apps on iPads to provide brain stimulation for people with neurological conditions. The app MIND uses art and music to engage patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, essential tremors, stroke, and traumatic brain injury, in emotional and physical activities. Thank you to the Hammondsport Rotary for funding a new digital projector. Using the projector we’ll be able to demonstrate apps on the iPads to a group. Inside the newsletter is a list of the sponsors and winners of our adult Summer Reading Program. Thank you to all our sponsors for making this such a great program. The Library and the Pulteney Firemen’s Auxiliary are having our annual Breakfast with Santa on December 12 from 9:00 to 11:00.
