We have a wonderful evening planned for you. Since LEEF’s inception, we have raised over $1,200,000 and awarded $756,000 in support of 208 teacher grants. Our teachers are thrilled, as are our children who directly benefit from your generosity and that of our sponsors. Your support of our foundation and our fundraising efforts is crucial. Your presence this evening demonstrates an ongoing commitment to LEEF’s mission . . . to ensure academic excellence in Longmeadow’s Public Schools. On behalf of the LEEF Board members, we would like to thank Wendy Upson, Amy Wiatrowski, Carolyn Hefner and Stephanie Foster, our Gala Co-Chairs. They have worked tirelessly along with their committee and many volunteers to guarantee the success of this event. The Gala and auction are a huge undertaking and each year seems to be better than the last. We appreciate the many hours they have invested in planning and preparing for this event. Our foundation and our town are very fortunate to benefit from their dedication and enthusiasm. We would also like to thank our Sponsorship Chairperson, Erin Hornyak, and her committee, for continuing to develop a network of support in the business and local community. Their efforts were an overwhelming success as so many of you responded graciously to our appeal. It is truly amazing to feel a sense of purpose as we gather in support of our children, their teachers, and the pursuit of educational excellence. We hope you enjoy the wonderful food and entertainment that we have provided this evening. Be sure to visit the Silent Auction tables and bid on the terrific items that have been donated. Our Live Auction promises to be better than ever. Get your bidder numbers ready! With heartfelt thanks, Karen Nystrom & Karin O’Keefe LEEF Co-Presidents Executive Board The Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF) is a private, volunteer, non-profit organization established in 2001 to enrich, enhance and support the quality of education in the Longmeadow public schools. LEEF is committed to underwriting grants to provide our schools (K – 12) with extraordinary opportunities beyond the scope of our taxsupported budgets. It will be easier to find them at the Gala if you know particularly what you’re looking for. • Complete a Wish List. That way you won’t forget to bid on items you want to win! • Think about putting together a group to bid on larger items such as vacation homes, parties, and sporting events. • Out of town friends and family: they might be interested in helping LEEF through bidding and/or sharing an item with you. • Holiday shopping can be a win-win! Gift certificates to services, lessons, jewelry, electronics, performances, toys, trips… these are all things you might purchase for loved ones during the holidays. Bid on them and the Longmeadow School System benefits! • Many businesses can use the services offered. They might be spending the money anyway, why not try to spend it through LEEF? • Don’t be afraid to outbid your friends and family. Our kids will benefit. • Some values may seem high. However, the minimum bid is usually less than half of the value. It doesn’t hurt to start the bidding on that coveted item. Welcome to the 9th Annual LEEF Gala! Thank you for joining us this evening for our Ninth Annual LEEF Gala. Your presence speaks volumes for our community. Tonight’s event is a celebration of the volunteers, the businesses, the teachers and the students whose support and dedication help make our public schools exceptional. Please take time to acknowledge those named throughout our program for their commitment and support of LEEF, its mission and this fun-filled evening. Their efforts, time and generosity have brought us to this wonderful Gala Affair. All that said, we encourage you to bid with confidence knowing that you will acquire a quality item or service and more importantly you’ll be supporting our students, teachers and schools. Please know that Longmeadow public school students and faculty are grateful for your support, encouragement and hard work for this annual community event. Your participation in this auction is the final piece to make this a wonderful evening not only for the attendees but also for our schools. With your support, we were able to fund 36 grants last year, totaling over $120,000. Let’s continue to build on this success! Enjoy the food, entertainment and camaraderie. Happy bidding!
