recent years has evolved into a pretty
garden city of contemporary architecture,
great beaches and a lively marina area.

from which to choose, offering a variety

Ile des Pins
Ile des Pins
The beautiful Ile des Pins is located
80 kilometres southeast of Noumea,
around 20 minutes by air from Magenta
Airport, Noumea’s second airport. This
stunning 14-kilometre island offers
some of the most idyllic scenery in New
Caledonia. Startling white beaches are
fringed by palm trees and the towering
Araucaria pines after which the island is
named. You can snorkel and swim in the
crystal-clear waters or you can hire
bicycles and cycle in and around some
of the townships on the island. Qantas

between Noumea and Ile des Pins,

The Loyalty Islands
One of the hidden treasures of New
Caledonia, the Loyalty Islands are
located just 100 kilometres from the
mainland of New Caledonia, around
a 35 minute flight from Magenta
Airport, and were originally named
because of the trusting nature of the
local Melanesian and Polynesian people.
For a true South Pacific experience
away from the large resorts and bustle
of Noumea, the Loyalty Islands offer
outstanding natural beauty from
coconut palms and long beaches of the
softest sand to unspoilt marine depths,
plunging cliffs and dense forests. You
won’t find deluxe resorts but there is a
selection of comfortable accommodation
on the islands of Lifou, Mare and Ouvea

between Sydney and Noumea, and one from
Brisbane. In addition, there are four codeshare
services from Sydney and two from Brisbane per
week flying with Aircalin. Flying time from Sydney is

New Caledonia uses the French Pacific Franc (XPF).
It is advisable to take some local currency, or
Australian/US Dollar travellers’ cheques or
international credit cards. If this facility has been
prearranged before departure, funds can also be
withdrawn by credit card at automatic teller
machines located in and around Noumea.
For travellers to New Caledonia, both
Qantas and Aircalin operate regular
services to Noumea.

CLIMATE
New Caledonia experiences a warm semi-tropical
climate year round. The coolest months are generally
April to August with the warmer, more humid
temperatures experienced between September and
March. Tropical rainfall tends to be lowest in the
months of March, June, October and November.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT TIMES: In most cases
12 noon is the check-in and check-out time.
MAX. IN ROOM: For each category the maximum
number of persons per room is shown, this may be
a combination of adults and children. Please check
prior to booking.
ROOM TYPES: Most hotels offer rooms with two beds
(twin) or one double/queen sized bed for use by one
or two persons. For triple share a third bed (rollaway)
is added, except when the room contains two
double beds. Some hotels also offer family rooms
(two adults/two children) comprising two double
beds. Please note, however, that they are normalsized rooms and may therefore be quite crowded.
If an extra rollaway bed or a baby cot is required,
the charge must be paid directly to the hotel.

representation as to the standard, class
or description of accommodation or
services provided by third parties.
Maps and photographs: Maps are
shown for general information and
may not necessarily reflect actual
routings, locations or services
provided. Photographs show places in
the geographic areas, but may not be
included in the holiday. Hotel room
photographs/descriptions are
representative only, actual rooms
occupied may vary in decor and
inclusions from those shown. Many
images are supplied courtesy of tourist
bureaus, hotels and tour operators.
Health and immigration: You are
responsible for all visa, passport,
immigration, quarantine, customs,
health and other requirements of
the countries visited or transited.
A valid passport (with at least six
months validity) must be carried
by each person. Qantas Holidays is
not responsible for your failure to
ensure that you comply with
these requirements.
Baggage: Please check your travel
documents for applicable baggage
allowances.
Pre-departure contact: You must
provide a telephone number or
address where you can be reached,
if necessary, within 24 hours prior to
your departure from Australia.
Not included in price of holiday:
You are responsible for the cost of
your own travel arrangements from
your home town to and from the
international departure city (as set out
in the brochure). Anything not
specifically included in the holiday
package is at your expense.
Air travel: Air travel is subject to
the conditions and limitations of
liability set out in the airline’s
conditions of carriage.
Booking arrangements: The person
making a booking will be deemed
to have accepted these Booking
Conditions on behalf of everyone
named in the booking. All
communications from us will usually
be sent to your travel consultant.
Your travel consultant is responsible
for forwarding payments made by
you to us.
Limit of liability: To the extent
permitted by law, Qantas Holidays
excludes all liability for any loss or
damage whatsoever (including but not
limited to physical and psychological
injury, and loss or damage to property
of whatever nature) that may arise in
any way in connection with the offer
or supply of goods or services through
Qantas Holidays or any third parties, or
in connection with the supply of such
goods or services. If the law implies a
condition or warranty that cannot be
excluded, Qantas Holidays’ liability for
a breach of the condition or warranty
will be limited as determined by
Qantas Holidays to the re-supply or
payment of the cost of re-supplying
the relevant goods or services.
Events beyond our control: Qantas
Holidays does not accept liability
whatsoever for injury, damage, loss,
delay, additional expenses or
inconvenience caused directly or
indirectly by any events which are
beyond its control including, but
not limited to, war, civil disturbance,
fire, floods, acts of God, acts of
Government or of any other
authorities, accident to or failure
of machinery or equipment or
industrial action.
Destination passenger enquiries:
Qantas Holidays makes no
representations as to the safety,
conditions or other issues that may
exist at any destination. You should
obtain travel advice, including from
the Australian Department of Foreign
Affairs and Trade
(www.smartraveller.gov.au).
Law of contract: These Booking
Conditions are governed by the laws
of Australia and any action arising
under them or in any way connected
with the holiday may be brought only
in a court in Australia, subject to any
law which is expressly inconsistent
with this.

Please read these Booking Conditions
carefully as they apply to all bookings
accepted by Qantas Holidays. Qantas
Holidays is not itself a transport, tour,
event or accommodation provider. It
acts only as an agent for those service
providers. You should obtain and read
the applicable service provider’s terms
and conditions as they may limit or
exclude liability in respect of death,
personal injury, delay and loss or
damage to baggage.
Brochure: This brochure should be
used as a guide only. Please refer to
your travel consultant for full details
including updated pricing.
How to book: Contact your licensed
or AFTA travel consultant who will
request a reservation for you. Please
note that all requests for reservations
are subject to availability. Any quote
given is an estimate only of the price.
Changes in prices and itineraries:
Prices are provided as a guide only and
may vary due to peak demand
periods, changes in surcharges, fees or
taxes or currency fluctuations. Please
check all prices and information with
your travel consultant before booking.
The price of your holiday may change
at any time up to 30 days before your
departure if any new surcharges, fees
or taxes are introduced or if any
existing surcharges, fees or taxes are
varied, even after you have paid all or
part of the quoted price of your
holiday. If we have to change any part
of your booking for reasons beyond
our control, for example, if an airline
changes its schedules, if a hotelier
overbooks, or if there are any changes
in applicable surcharges, fees or taxes,
we will notify you. If any such changes
result in your holiday costing more or
otherwise being materially different,
then you may cancel the holiday and
we will refund any monies already
paid less any charges imposed by
suppliers.
Deposits and final payments:
International bookings (for travel from
Australia). A deposit of $165 per
person is payable within 7 days of
confirmation of your reservation. You
will be notified at the time of your
reservation if any additional deposit
requirements apply. Full payment for
your holiday package is required at
least 30 days prior to departure, or by
sale end date or payment deadline
specified in individual package
conditions, whichever is the earliest.
If for any reason your balance is not
received by us by the due date, we
reserve the right to treat your booking
as cancelled and to apply the
appropriate cancellation charges.
A deposit holds services requested
but does not guarantee prices.
Late bookings: For bookings made
within 7 days of departure a fee of
$20 will apply.
