MARYLAND LOTTERY OFFERS MOBILE APP
Spread the word! Your players can take the Maryland
Lottery everywhere they take their smart phones. Our
free mobile application is available for download from
the Apple or Android app stores or at mdlottery.com.
We launched the app in late fall to rave reviews.
In fact, through late December, 15,000 players had
downloaded the app. Players will still come to you to
buy their favorite Lottery terminal games and scratchoffs but you can direct them to the app as a great
resource for Lottery information. Players can use the
app to:
• Look up winning numbers.
• Check jackpot amounts.
• Set up phone alerts for jackpots that roll to a
specific level.
• Search for scratch-offs by name, start dates,
ticket descriptions and more.
• Randomly generate numbers for fun when
playing Mega Millions, Multi-Match or Powerball.
In February, players can download the app and
enjoy interactive play tied to a $3 scratch-off, Bonus
Crossword. The scratch-off will have a unique code
that entitles
players with
non-winning
tickets to
play a mobile
version of the
scratch-off on
their smart
phone. They
can play for
fun or for
prizes of cash
coupons or
points for the
My Lottery
Rewards program.
Be sure to instruct your employees to ask players
if they know about the mobile app and the extended
online play offered by the Bonus Crossword scratchoff. Detailed information on both the app and this new
scratch-off are on our website at mdlottery.com. We
look forward to your feedback!

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE
I hope you had a pleasant start to the New Year
after a busy holiday season. The Maryland Lottery
had many important initiatives and promotions
running simultaneously leading up to and during
the holidays. Thanks to your dedication and hard
work, we accomplished all of this in a short period.
There are some great new initiatives planned
for this calendar year. Please take the time to read
about Medal Madness, the new Lottery mobile
app and other upcoming promotions so you can
best promote them within your store. Another
great way to stay up to date on the latest products
and promotions is to visit mdlottery.com regularly
for more information.

WRAP UP ON REGIONAL RETAILER MEETINGS
More than 65 retailers from around the state
joined Maryland Lottery officials this fall at
informational Regional Retailer Advisory
Board meetings. The five sessions gave key
retailers an overview of upcoming instant ticket
launches, new product promotions, draw game
enhancements, new Keno graphics and more. A
question-and-answer segment allowed retailers
to share suggestions and concerns.
“This was a great opportunity for retailers to
interact with Lottery senior management on a
variety of topics,” said John Martin, assistant
director of the Lottery. He led the sessions in
Annapolis, Hunt Valley, Rockville, Waldorf and
at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “We
introduced a number of new player promotions
at these sessions so these retailers can begin
sharing the news with their customers.”
For example, Martin presented features of the
new mobile phone app in detail and described
how this technology, in the future, will attract
players to the Lottery and generate more income
at the retail level. “By building a community of
mobile app users, we can drive these players to
your store by sending them coupons and special promotions,” he told the group.
Look for the next round of Regional Retailer Advisory Board meetings in April.
Want to make sure you get an invitation? Tell your district manager or email your
interest to [email protected]. We will alert those interested when
we schedule dates and locations. We hope to see you at a meeting in the spring!

The partners even offer popular secondchance contests to benefit customers who

scratch-offs, a $100 gift certificate to redeem

restaurant in the shopping center.

Notify your district manager
as soon as you begin planning roof work, interior remodeling or
construction that affects the equipment. Your district manager will alert
Scientific Games, which in turn will schedule a temporary or permanent
equipment relocation or a removal. This process takes several days.
If you must permanently move the equipment, we need time to
perform a site survey to detail the changes. Give your district manager
the date for completion of the work as well as any schedule changes.
In the event of an emergency such as a roof leak when equipment
must be moved or suffer damage call the hotline at 888-427-7568 and
report the problem. Next, please call your district manager!
CELEBRATE MEDAL MADNESS
Retailers and players
win big with our Jan.
20-Feb. 23 Medal
Madness promotion.
Players have three
ways to win when they
purchase a terminal
game during the fiveweek promotion. They
can win the actual game
or win instant free-play vouchers of $2, $5 and $10 on games of $1 or
more. They must redeem the vouchers within 60 days. They also can
enter the collect-to-win second-chance contest. Terminal tickets will
print with a gold, silver or bronze medal. Players collect all three medals
for each contest entry for cash prizes of $1,000 to $250,000. All entries
are due March 3 for the March 4 drawing.
Retailers win with commissions! Earn a commission of 3 percent
to cash free-play vouchers and 5.5 percent on games bought with
vouchers. Remind your players that vouchers expire in 60 days.
Remember, the more times they play the higher your commission
income may grow!
