Iridescence from the Kundan Pure Silk® Collection
For the first time Zollanvari are introducing a modern design
collection from their Kundan Pure Silk® line which to date
reinvented and refreshed classical designs. This new collection takes
its inspiration from animal pelts and skins and combines diverse
motifs to create a totally modern design.
Other new designs to be seen at the fair
Tiles from the Gabbehs Abstract Collection (traditional Gabbeh
‘squares’ reinterpreted in this design innovation with delicate
vertical lines in varying colours giving an impression of a tiled roof);
Water Meadow from the Gabbehs Abstract Collection (misty and
mysterious – an abstract water meadow… water, a source of life for
the nomadic tribeswomen that wove this Gabbeh with such a wonderful sense of perspective) and Bamboo Grove from the Gabbehs
Abstract Collection (Southeast Asian vista meets Persian superior
carpet weaving: the comb like zigzag colour combinations create an
illusion of bamboo stalks in a grove). Tribal Ghashgha’i Zig Zags, Ikats
and Vibrant Banehs are all new kilims from the Flatweaves Collections. Multiple Trees from the Into the Woods line and Lions & Elks
from the Gabbehs Collections and the Pomegranate Tree in Mille
Fleurs Prayer Niche as well as new Tree of Life design carpets from
the Transitional Collections will also be seen for the first time
in Stockholm.

Designer carpets on show will include Vase, Jeziorak and Classical
Garden designs which are additions to the Isfahan Collection. Other
new carpets made in Rajasthan, India, are additions to the Kundan
Silk® production including Dancing Dragon, Sufi and Iridescence.
The carpets from the Kundan Silk® Collection, developed for the US
market since the embargo on Iranian products imposed in 2010, are
woven using the most exquisite materials, such as raw organic silk.
They are hand-knotted by skilled artisans and the subtle over-dyeing of the carpets with translucent colours creates a unique multidimensional shimmering texture.

The story of Zollanvari began when Gholam Reza Zollanvari joined

products of the nomads of South Persia. Those colourful carpets
