Dear Valued Community Member or Organization:
In January, Derik Maloney, a Burlington resident, volunteer, devoted husband and father of two young
sons, Kevin and Spencer Maloney, passed away unexpectedly.
As many residents from Burlington, his
hometown of Winsted, and many neighboring towns know firsthand, Derik was well-respected
for how
unselfishly he lived his life. Whether it was working long hours to support his family, coaching young
athletes to achieve their goals, cheering them on at basketball games, or giving back to the community
by his countless hours and years of service to the Burlington Lion's Club, Derik touched many of our lives
in numerous ways.
On Saturday evening, April 5, the Burlington Lions Club, Harwinton Youth Sports Association, Region 10
and the Lewis Mills Football Boosters are co-sponsoring a fundraising event to benefit the Derik Maloney
Family Fund which has been set up to provide financial support to his family. The event includes a pasta
supper, activities for young children, a basketball game featuring volunteers and coaches from the
sponsoring organizations, raffles and a silent auction. The event will be held at Lewis Mills High School
where many will remember having seen Derik's big smile in the stands.
Please consider helping to make this event a success by donating an item or service to be included in the
raffle or auction.
Your investment in the event in Derik's memory will not only provide heartfelt and
needed support for the Maloney family, but your generosity will help our small community to remain
connected in our united effort to give back, as Derik did. In appreciation of your donation, the name of
