GEM AWARD FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT Jim Rosenheim TINY JEWEL BOX | WASHINGTON, D.C. JIM ROSENHEIM has helped his family grow Tiny Jewel Box, a three-generation jewelry business, into an iconic Washington, D.C., institution and internationally renowned jewelry store. His career at Tiny Jewel Box began at the age of 12, working by his parents’ side, and by 18, he was a lapidary and bench jeweler. Now, he leads the store as its Chairman. Jim’s vision was to transition Tiny Jewel Box from a resource of primarily antique jewelry to a fashion-forward store that carries the best of everything at a wide range of price points. Jim was one of the first to bring bold, Italian jewelry to the forefront in the U.S. and is credited with discovering designers from David Yurman to Alex Sepkus. A legend in the industry, Jim was elected to the National Jeweler Retailer Hall of Fame in 2011. He sat on the Board of Directors for both Jewelers of America and Jewelers for Children. Jim continues to serve on retail advisory panels for some of the jewelry industry’s top trade shows, including Centurion, Couture and Vincenza Oro. His parents taught him the importance of serving those less fortunate, which led to his involvement with numerous charities outside of the industry. He supports the Arena Stage, Holocaust Memorial Museum, Michael J. Fox Foundation, Movement Disorders Clinic at Georgetown University Hospital, Natural Resources Defense Council, So Others Might Eat, several children’s hospitals and more than a dozen other deserving organizations. He was also responsible for building and funding the Rosenheim Administrative Building at the Lab School of Washington. His wife of 47 years, Marcia Rosenheim, has been Jim’s muse and constant source of inspiration throughout his career. Over the decades, Marcia has been by Jim’s side as merchandise items are chosen, relationships developed and key decisions made to shape Tiny Jewel Box’s unique collections and personality. Jim is the proud parent of Jessica and Matthew, who is President of Tiny Jewel Box, and grandparent to Josh and Rachel. When not in the jewelry store, he enjoys scuba diving, skiing, antiquing and traveling the world off the beaten path. Jim earned a BS from Syracuse University, an MBA from the American University, attended Georgetown Law Center and holds a Graduate Gemologist degree from the Gemological Institute of America.
