The CRTC’s recent decisions on Pick and Pay, Terms of Trade, Cancon and genre protection brought in a new era where we’ll see less regulation of broadcasting in Canada. Yet despite this change and uncertainty, the Manitoba industry is not only surviving, it’s thriving! Looking at the level and the breadth of production activity this past year, it’s clear in so many ways that our industry has reached a new level of maturity and is demonstrating a remarkable ability to adapt and find new opportunities as they emerge. We have so much good news and a lot to celebrate! Over the past few years the organization has become a critical voice, advocating for Manitoba’s media production industry with government, the key funding agencies, and with broadcasters. And we are starting to see the benefits of this work when we look at the improved CMF supports for regional production and the increased broadcast licenses for Manitoba. Our province’s role on the national stage has never been more prominent or more essential. At a time when many provinces have reduced their tax credit programs, we are excited to announce that this year the Manitoba Government has confirmed its support for the current tax credit for another 4 years. This stability gives us a real advantage and improved competitiveness. It is the backbone of our industry. It’s hard to believe that last year our greatest concern as a board was to secure stable funding for the organization. Today, OSM’s financial position has never been stronger. Thanks to our hard working board and dedicated executive director and staff, OSM has received a twoyear commitment for industry development from the Government of Manitoba as well as a three-year commitment from the Government of Canada. This new funding presents us with an unprecedented opportunity. Over the next few years, OSM has the resources to provide market intelligence, to facilitate market access and other programs that will propel our industry into the future and position Manitoba as a market leader. We invite everyone to bring their ideas, their vision and their innovative concepts to the table as we prepare for the changes that are coming. A whirlwind of production followed a gentle start to the year, both in terms of the industry and On Screen Manitoba itself. As an organization, we saw concrete positive results from our efforts to develop the industry over the past few years, in terms of maintaining an annual production volume over $107M as well as increasing the number of TV series –both scripted and unscripted in Manitoba. As a result, in October 2014, five dramatic productions were shot concurrently – two TV series, three features as well as eight unscripted series and numerous one-off documentaries including three series with the brand-new TV5 Unis destined for Francophones outside of Québec. Manitoba did Get on Set! Quelle année ! On a peut-être démarré en douceur en avril, mais on s’est vite retrouvé avec le vent en poupe aussi bien au niveau de la production audio-visuelle au Manitoba qu’au niveau des activités de On Screen Manitoba. En tant qu’organisme nous avons vu nos efforts pour développer l’industrie récolter des résultats positifs sur tous les fronts avec un volume de production maintenu au-dessus de $107M et l’augmentation du nombre de séries de télévision tournées au Manitoba. De fait, en octobre 2014 nous avons vu cinq productions de fiction se tourner dans le même mois – deux séries de télévision et trois longs métrages ainsi que 8 séries de documentaires – en effet, Ça tourne au Manitoba !... et en français aussi : la toute nouvelle chaîne TV5 UNIS a commandé 3 séries de documentaires l’an dernier. Et ça continue sur tous les écrans ! Pendant que l’industrie multipliait les projets, On Screen Manitoba,a pris son essor, sécurisé par de multiples partenaires-clés prêts à collaborer et soutenir de nouvelles initiatives pour l’accès aux marchés et le développement d’affaires. Et c’est d’abord le soutien de la Province du While the industry was busy with productions, On Screen Manitoba rallied key partners who are willing to collaborate and support a new three-year industry development initiative. The Province of Manitoba was first out of the gate providing the support needed to attract a threeyear contribution from the Federal Government. The speed and complexity of change in the content production industry today is accelerating. Driven by digital technology, as it has been for some time, along with accompanying changes in audience behaviour, the industry now faces significant policy and regulatory modifications. Despite these challenges, Government has demonstrated its commitment to support the entrepreneurial content creators who drive innovation in Manitoba. Personally, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work in collaboration with the interactive media production sector. It is through the exploration of partnership and collaboration that I believe we will define the linear and interactive content production companies of the future. Founded in 1987 as the Manitoba Motion Pictures Industry Association (MMPIA), the organization is producer-led but includes and serves the interests of writers, directors, production companies, services suppliers, unions, guilds, training organizations and exhibitors. OUR VISION OUR MISSION OUR MEMBERS On Screen Manitoba is the central node of the Manitoba media production industry, the go-to for people who work in this sector or who want to learn about it. To increase opportunity and recognition of the Manitoba media production industry by sharing information and facilitating connections for industry professionals and stakeholders. Our members work in all genres and formats producing world class content for distribution through broadcast, online mobile and theatrical release in English, French and Aboriginal languages. Recognition and Celebration: to recognize and promote the Manitoba media production industry through active representation of the industry and its work locally, nationally and internationally. In 2014-2015 this included Realscreen Washington, HOTDOCS, the Cannes Film Festival and Market, the Banff World Media Festival, the Toronto International Film Festival, AFM, Berlinale, MIPTV and others. Industry relations: a voice for the Manitoba industry to ensure that regulatory affairs and industry trends are analyzed and considered from the perspective of Manitoba media production professionals. Nationally, On Screen Manitoba provides a voice for regional creators and producers. Provincially, it interprets industry trends and advocates for ongoing production incentives and support that are adapted to current challenges and opportunities. Business development: initiatives that put Manitoba production companies in meetings with co-production partners, industry stakeholders and decision-makers through conferences and speaker series that include one-on-one business meetings in Manitoba and elsewhere. Industry promotion: activities that raise the profile of the Manitoba media production industry and our members achievements through our websites, social media, an industry guide, online directory and partnerships with Manitoba Film & Music at international and national festivals and markets. Industry communications: information that identifies business trends and opportunities in terms of regulatory issues, technology, audience behavior, production, financing, marketing and distribution. >> OSM provides unparalled access for its members to industry professionals. The year ended on a high note with the Film Tax Credit being renewed until December 2019, well ahead of its December 2016 expiry date, signaling the Province’s confidence in the value of the industry and its commitment to support industry growth and development. The 20142015 year saw 13 feature films, 2 dramatic series, 8 factual series and 29 documentaries shot in Manitoba, creating approximately 1,300 highly skilled jobs for Manitobans and over 100 hours of Manitobamade content. TV series were the big news in terms of shooting in Manitoba this year from Escape or Die featuring Manitoba-born Dean Gunnarson to The Pinkertons - the first one-hour dramatic series since Falcon Beach. This 22-episode show, employed a 95% Manitoba crew, with 96% of acting roles filled by Manitoba-based talent. Several French-language series including La route des jardins, were secured through the new national broadcaster Unis, which focuses on programming for and by Francophones outside of Québec. At a media conference on the set of Sunnyside in October 2014, hosted by Minister Ron Lemieux, Minister Theresa Oswald recognized the economic and cultural contribution of the Manitoba media production industry to the province and confirmed industry development funding representing $295,600 each year for two years. FINAL OSM KS.indd 6 This funding, along with a significant three-year contribution from the federal government allowed On Screen Manitoba to carry out existing and new key market access and business development initiatives including its signature industry event All Access 2015. All Access 2015 offered over 250 B2B meetings for the 180 registered delegates; and a number of smaller industry sessions that brought broadcasters, distributors, funders and other executives to Winnipeg to meet local industry professionals in an intimate setting. On Screen Manitoba was also able to enhance a key industry development tool – the Access Funds, which facilitate producers, writers and filmmakers access to markets, festivals and professional development programs. The Access Funds are made possible through an annual contribution from Manitoba Film and Music. The federal funding has resulted in a myriad of new partnerships and opportunities for On Screen Manitoba and its members. Two industry consultations with both the linear and interactive media production sectors were held in Manitoba in December 2014. The English session involved 30 companies (15 from each sector). A second was held in French with the participation of 4 companies (3 linear, 1 interactive) and three independent content producers who develop small-scale productions in Manitoba. Additional sessions were held in English in Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and Regina. Nordicity was commissioned to conduct the industry consultations resulting in a report outlining activities and areas of focus for the federally funded industry development project to be carried out in all three provinces over the next three years. Project staff and contractors are conducting additional research regarding effective means to stimulate convergent projects and support emerging and established companies’ entry into new markets. Several new initiatives are planned for 20152016. On Screen Manitoba is working with its primary partner, New Media Manitoba to position Manitoba as a leading centre for innovation in media content production. On average, 67 productions are shot in Manitoba each year. The MB media production industry attracts over $58M annually from outside of the province . Each year, the media production industry creates 1,300 full-time jobs. 15-06-04 8:23 AM 7 INDUSTRY RELATIONS On Screen Manitoba is an active national voice advocating for regional production, including Francophone production outside of Québec. Through national consultations with organizations such as; the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), the Canada Media Fund (CMF), Telefilm Canada, Parliamentary and Senate Committees, On Screen Manitoba influences policies, guidelines and regulations affecting the production industry in Canada. This year, On Screen Manitoba participated in the CRTC Let’s Talk TV hearings. On Screen Manitoba appeared at the hearings in Gatineau, QC on behalf of regional producers, writers, directors and industry professionals working in both official languages as well as aboriginal languages. The hearings resulted in a number of decisions affecting film and television production in Canada. Key among those decisions, the CRTC announced it would no longer enforce the terms of trade, which offer critical safeguards for independent producers in their dealings with large private broadcasters. This past fall, On Screen Manitoba was active in annual consultations with the CMF. The CMF introduced modest changes in the 2015-2016 guidelines and announced a new standard recoupment policy along with other potential changes in 2016-2017 once its regular review by Canadian Heritage is completed. OSM supported the CMPA’s request that producer fees (both investment and provincial tax credits) be kept on the same tier as CMF investments, which was accepted by the CMF in the new standard recoupment policy. >> Buffalo Gal Pictures’ Phyllis Laing speaks at a press conference announcing the extension of the Film and Video Tax Credit to 2019. Every year, On Screen Manitoba makes it a priority to maintain and enhance Manitoba’s production incentives. The work carried out in 2014-2015 led to the early renewal of the Film and Video Production Tax Credit and the Interactive Digital Media Tax Credit to December 31, 2019. On Screen Manitoba continues to work collaboratively with local, regional and national industry stakeholders and government to ensure that Manitoba remains a dynamic production hub, providing meaningful opportunity to the talents of Anglophone, multicultural, Aboriginal and Francophone professionals who wish to work in the media production industry in Manitoba. “On Screen Manitoba works to build stability in Manitoba’s media production industry by acting as a voice for industry professionals locally, nationally and internationally. OSM consistently acts on behalf of our industry. A major initiative in the past year was OSM’s advocacy work which contributed to the early renewal of the Film and Video Tax Credit to 2019.” >> Jamie Brown, Frantic Films FINAL OSM KS.indd 7 15-06-04 8:23 AM 8 INDUSTRY PROMOTIONS & COMMUNICATIONS On Screen Manitoba takes a comprehensive approach to industry promotion and communications using a mix of digital and conventional media. Our digital strategy includes three websites, a weekly newsletter, special messages and social media campaigns. Powered by Tactica Interactive, the On Screen Manitoba website is divided into user-friendly sections including industry-events and deadlines calendar, daily-updated industry news, and an industry directory that provide OSM members with increased visibility. >> A day on the set of Sunnyside In Focus, our weekly newsletter plays a double role communicating timely industry news and information while highlighting members’ success. OSM’s newsletter has 1,000 subscribers. Industry stakeholders can buy advertising space to appear in the newsletter and four ad spaces are available each week. On Screen Manitoba has the strongest combined social media presence of several Canadian media production industry associations and provincial agencies in Canada. OSM has over 4,000 followers on Twitter, 4,325 likes on Facebook and engages daily on both. OSM launched an Instagram account at the end of this fiscal year, which attained 190 followers in a few weeks. On Screen Manitoba uses traditional print advertising to create awareness about Manitoba’s film and television industry. In May 2014, during the Cannes Film Festival, OSM and Manitoba Film and Music collaborated on an ad in Variety magazine. It used the success of Heaven is for Real to underline Manitoba’s attractive Film and Video Tax Credit. OSM and MFM also published a joint ad in Playback Magazine’s yearly Ultimate Guide highlighting both the tax credit and striking Manitoba locations. >> Heaven Is For Real OSM and MFM joint ad in Variety On Screen Manitoba promotes our members’ achievements and the value of the industry through strategic public relations. This includes industry updates and analysis through interviews in both languages with news outlets in radio, television and print. Season One of Illegal Eater, produced by Farpoint Films and Middle Child Films was sold to Discovery Network Latin America by sales agent Rive Gauche Television >> FM Youth directed/written by Stéphane Oystryk premieres at Cinémental FINAL OSM KS.indd 10 Orlando Braun and Jorge Requena’s (Prairie Boy Productions) project, That Mennonite Joke, was selected as the winner of the MTS Stories From Home $20,000 Pitch at Gimli Film Festival. After the Ball, directed by Sean Garrity and produced by DCP Mystery Arts and Jane Silverstone Holdings, received $3.3 million in financing from Telefilm. Aloft, coproduced by Buffalo Gal Pictures received $300,000 in funding through the Canada Feature First Fund. CBC premiered Manitoba-made documentary Treading Water: Plight of the Manitoba First Nation Flood Evacuees about the social effects of intense flooding in 2011. SEPTEMBER 2014 The lead actors in H&G (Red Czarina) Breazy Diduck-Wilson (age 10) and Annika Elyse Irving (age 8), were nominated for Joey Awards. Original Pictures’ President Kim Todd accepted the award for Outstanding Miniseries at the Emmy’s for her work on Fargo. Fargo also won for Outstanding Directing for a Mini-series, Movie or Dramatic Special. Fargo was nominated for 18 Emmys. John Titley’s short films Cold Feet and Anatomy of Assistance made their national debut on CBC as part of the Canadian Reflection series. The films were cowritten by Titley through the Canadian Film Centre. Jeremy Torrie’s latest film The Psychopath Next Door premiered on CBC’s Doc Zone. OCTOBER 2014 Treading Water: Plight of the Manitoba First Nation Flood Evacuees won Best Short Documentary at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival. Over lunch, representatives from Telefilm (Stephanie Azam, Lauren Davis and Marie-France Godbout), the Canada Media Fund (Nathalie Clermont) and the Harold Greenberg Fund (John Galway) offered their updates on new opportunities in funding. All Access delegates then had the opportunity participate in one-on-one meetings with guest executives. >>All Access attendees gear up for a busy day of industry sessions. All Access is On Screen Manitoba’s annual industry forum. It brings national and international industry executives to Winnipeg to meet with local producers, writers and filmmakers. The 2015 edition was held January 12th- 14th at the Fairmont Winnipeg. The conference focused on new opportunities in digital technology and series development in Manitoba. More than 180 people participated in All Access 2015, contributing to one of the most successful conferences to date. The event included eight panels and keynote presentations in English and three in French as well as 256 one-on-one meetings. On Monday, January 12th, the conference began with a Manitoba spotlight featuring producers of online and TV series: Nick Christie (Bent Neck Films), Jeff Peeler (Frantic Films), Merit Jensen Carr (Merit Motion Pictures), Phyllis Laing (Buffalo Gal Pictures) with co-producer Anton Leo (Counterfeit Pictures), Wednesday, January 14th focused on Francophone content and brought national distributors, funders and broadcasters Judith Brosseau (INIS), Marie-Claude Dupont (Radio-Canada), MarieFrance Godbout (Telefilm), Pierre Gang (UNIS), Athena Georgaklis (Teletoon), Monika Ille (APTN) and Jean-Pierre Laurendeau (Canal D) to present new opportunities to French-language directors and producers as well as students from the University of St. Boniface’s multimedia program. The day also included networking and one-on-one meetings with guest executives. Delegates and guests value All Access for its intimate setting and focused approach to facilitating business meetings. With just a 10% response rate the post event survey confirmed that companies left All Access with over 35 leads (development, production and acquisitions) in all genres and including a microbudget feature and a factual series worth over $550,000. A couple of respondents walked away with pre-development deals worth an average of $15,000. ALL ACCESS 2015 PARTNERS A national panel of sales agents and distributors including Marina Cordoni (MCE), Christina Kubacki (eOne), Brad Pelman (Fremantle) and Lizanne Rouillard (Filmoption International Inc.) discussed changes to marketing and distribution in recent years. Michael Hennessey, President and CEO of the CMPA facilitated a conversation with Catherine Warren, President of FanTrust Entertainment on harnessing digital technology to enhance content marketing and revenue generation. On Tuesday, January 13th, the conference continued with a keynote presentation by Glenn O’Farrell, CEO of TFO, which focused on growth through digital technologies. The panel following focused on children’s content, with national broadcasters Glenn O’Farrell (TFO), Athena Georgaklis (Teletoon), and Natalie Dumoulin (9 Story) speaking to what young audiences are looking for today. Industry Session with eQuinoxe Europe March 2015: Information session regarding masterclass for writer/producer teams and industry intelligence regarding the European feature film market attended by 15 and 8 B2B meetings facilitated. At least five Manitoba writers competed for one spot, which was awarded to Rebecca Gibson for her project Skinner in development with Eagle Vision. A new initiative in bringing more industry intelligence to On Screen Manitoba members is a partnership with the Canada Media Fund to embed their industry intelligence newsletter Trends in both French and English in the OSM website. This pilot initiative with OSM will eventually be offered to other associations over time. Over 50% of film crew also have careers as practicing artists, contributing to the wider cultural fabric of the province. GET ON SET MANITOBA/ On tourne Manitoba On Screen Manitoba believes that facilitating opportunity for the public to see films and television productions made in Manitoba is key to developing a strong regional production industry. Get On Set Manitoba / On tourne Manitoba is a public awareness initiative made possible with support from government, industry and Manitoba Film and Music. It includes a bilingual web site that serves to document content shot in Manitoba and provide information about how the industry works to the general public and those considering a career in the industry. A Facebook group I Heart Manitoba Films was developed in relation to the website. It has over 750 likes and offers a space for producers, directors, writers and actors to casually interact about projects. Along with the online presence, Get on Set includes poster and postcard campaigns as well as promotional videos and special Manitoba film screenings such as the Aloft Red Carpet Screening in April 2014 and a short film screening at Nuit Blanche. A quarter of Manitoba production companies are Aboriginal or Metis owned. Half of Manitoba production companies are owned by Women. Francophone producers in MB working exclusively in French account for just 3% of the production companies but 16% of total production The media production industry in Manitoba had a total GDP impact of $357 million over the last five years. OSM has developed several delivery mechanisms for providing support in this area: the Access Funds; regular industry updates; our annual industry forum, All Access; and industry partnerships with Manitoba film festivals. The Access Funds are made possible through an annual contribution from Manitoba Film and Music and are enhanced through an additional contribution form the Province of Manitoba. Essential business development tools, these Funds help the Manitoba production industry promote its success, attract production partners and secure production financing. Access to Festivals allows writers and directors to travel to festivals where their film is screening or for special invitation opportunities that offer a business connection. In a total of 11 festival excursions, OSM sent 8 filmmakers to 8 national and international film festivals. Access to Markets is designed to support producers attending professional markets organize business development opportunities outside of Manitoba. OSM was able to support market activity for 32 writers, producers, and creative service professionals to attend 26 market opportunities, for a total of 52 excursions and over 800 B2B meetings. Access to Professional Development is available to writers, directors and producers to provide support for national or international professional development opportunities. In 2014-2015 On Screen Manitoba provided promotional, logistical and financial support to a variety of professional development and outreach initiatives with Manitoba film festivals, other local film organizations and national events. This partnership, announced during All Access 2015, provides mentorship support to emerging francophone producers in Western Canada. The first recipient Wookey Films, is working with Québec producer Ève Tessier-Bouchard on the development of a series for youth. Also announced at All Access 2015, On Screen Manitoba was designated as an in-take organization in Western Canada for the Telefilm French Language Micro-Budget Financing Program. As a result, On Screen Manitoba recommended one project to the national jury for consideration as well as providing the applicant with a consultant to enhance their application. OSM promoted Cinémental, Gimme Some Truth, Freeze Frame International Film Festival for Kids of All Ages, Hot Docs in Winnipeg, Archi Shorts, Open City Cinema and the Shärt Int’l Comedy Film Festival through our website, newsletter, and social media. In addition On Screen provided over 45 hours of volunteer staff time to those events. For the 2014 Gimli Film Festival, On Screen Manitoba acted as the depository for film entries; produced the Industry Sessions and supported Q & A’s with guest filmmakers; as well as managing the RBC Emerging Filmmaker Competition and the MTS Stories From Home $20,000 Pitch. Notes to the Financial Statements March 31, 2015 1. Nature of operations On Screen Manitoba Inc. (the Organization) is a vibrant non-profit, membership-driven association that leads, builds and represents Manitoba's media production industry. The Organization is a not-for-profit organization under the Income Tax Act and thus exempt from tax. 2. Summary of significant accounting policies These financial statements are prepared in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for notfor-profit organizations. The significant accounting policies used are detailed as follows: a) Fund accounting Revenues and expenses related to the Organization's program delivery and administrative activities are reported in the Operating Fund. The Reserve Fund was created for the purpose of providing the Organization with adequate cash flows in the event of significant unbudgeted increases in operating expenses and/or losses in operating revenues. Additionally, the reserve may be used, at the discretion of the Board, for strategic investments. As at March 31, 2015, the reserve was under-funded by $10,593 (2014 - $20,593). b) Revenue recognition The Organization follows the deferral method of accounting for contributions. Restricted grants are recognized as revenue of the appropriate fund in the year in which the related expenses are incurred. Unrestricted grants and contributions are recognized as revenue in the Operating Fund when received or receivable if the amount to be received can be reasonably estimated and collection is reasonably assured. Memberships are recognized as revenue in the Operating Fund in the year in which the subscription relates. c) In-kind contributions and expenses The Organization recognizes program participants' out-of-pocket costs as in-kind contributions under the Media Exchange Project. An equal in-kind expense is also recorded as these are incremental costs incurred in carrying out the project. d) Accounting estimates The preparation of financial statements in accordance with Canadian accounting standards for not-forprofit organizations requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amount of assets and liabilities, disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the financial statements and the reported amount of revenues and expenses during the reported period. These estimates are reviewed periodically and are reported in earnings in the period in which they become known. Summary of significant accounting policies - continued e) Allocation of expenses The Organization allocates a portion of its office, rent, salaries, wages and benefits, and telephone expenses to the Media Exchange Project. All expenses have been allocated based upon the approved budgeted amounts related to the operation of the project. f) Financial instruments It is management's opinion that the Organization is not exposed to significant credit, currency, interest rate, liquidity or market risks arising from its financial instruments. 3. Deferred revenue Deferred membership revenue in the amount of $17,358 (2014 - $16,240) relates to memberships purchased during the year that have not been fully earned. Deferred revenue in the amount of $165,072 (2014 - $Nil) relates to funding of future activities of the Media Exchange Project. 4. Funds held in trust The Organization maintains funds held in trust on behalf of Buffalo Gal Pictures Inc., for the purpose of providing financial support to individuals within the industry who become ill and require financial assistance. The Organization does not have the authority to release funds without prior approval from Buffalo Gal Pictures Inc. 5. Commitment The Organization leases office space located at 100 Arthur Street. The lease expires March 31, 2016. The Organization's rental obligation is $31,570 per annum. 6. Economic dependence The volume of financial activity undertaken by the Organization with its main funding bodies is of sufficient magnitude that the discontinuance of their funding would endanger the ability of the Organization to continue as a going concern. 7. Comparative figures Certain balances of the preceding period have been reclassified to conform with the current year's financial statement presentation. Media Exchange Project Effective September 1, 2014, The Organization entered into a three year agreement with Western Economic Diversification Canada expiring on August 31, 2017. The scope of the project is to support the expansion of prairie Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in linear and interactive media industries in the global screen-based industries, with a focus on marketing and promotion to raise the profile of prairie companies in international markets. As part of the project, the Organization is expected to establish a Transmedia Lab in Winnipeg to encourage companies to test and develop new products for commercialization. The Organization will work with a variety of partners to deliver tailored business development, market preparedness and market intelligence for key markets in Europe and the US, and develop opportunities in emerging markets such as South Korea and Brazil. To facilitate this work, the Organization has entered into partnership agreements with New Media Manitoba (NMM), the Alberta Media Production Industries Association (AMPIA) and the Saskatchewan Media Production Industry Association (SMPIA). These agreements cover the duration of the project. The total project budget is $8,488,700. Contributions from Western Economic Diversification Canada are driven by eligible expenses (assisted expenses) paid by the Organization to a maximum of $3,893,765. Additional contributions from other governments and industry partnerships (sponsorships, registration fees, cost-sharing with industry associations and training organizations, in-kind contributions, etc.) cover expenses that Western Economic Diversification will not cover (non-assisted expenses) to complete the project budget. During the fiscal year, the Organization entered into a two-year agreement with the Province of Manitoba beginning April 1, 2014 and expiring March 31, 2016, under which the Province of Manitoba committed to contribute a maximum of $591,200. This provincial funding covers a portion of the non-assisted expenses of the Media Exchange Project.
