2015 World Rowing Coastal Championships L I M A, N O V E M B E R 13–15, 2 0 1 5 Letter from President Welcome! Dear rowers: It is a great honour for Peru to have been selected as the Host of the 2015 World Rowing Coastal Championships in Lima. We thank FISA for the trust place in us, and want to relay to all of you that we are committed to holding the event with the responsibility and quality it deserves. The competitions will take place off the coast of the Chorrillos district, a historic part of town located just south of downtown Lima. This area of our beautiful coast has the perfect conditions for this type of competition. The headquarters of the event will be the “Regatas Lima” club, which was founded by rowers back in 1875 and is now one of the biggest clubs in Peru with a strong investment in Olympic sports. The club has the ideal infrastructure to host this championship, from boating facilities for the competitors, to guest accommodations such as restaurants and seating areas. The club has made the investment to purchase a fleet of 60 boats, which will be available to you at no cost. We’re working on getting a wide range of options on accommodations and transportation to the event. In addition to accommodations during the event, we are designing tour packages especially crafted for you, in case you have time to stay and learn more about our beautiful city and our wonderful Peru. We are eagerly anticipating your participation between November 13-15. Also on November 11, we will organise Beach Sprint races in the Masters category. We are confident that this will be an unforgettable experience for all participants and other attendees and are counting on your presence at the 2015 World Rowing Coastal Championships in Lima. The FISA team will be working with the organisers to design an exciting course that tests the skill and fitness of the rowers. The design team will do their best to have as much down wave racing as possible. As normal the race distance will be 4km for the heats and Final B and 6km for Final A. There is the possibility to have both running beach starts and finishes in Lima, so please come a few days early to perfect your starts and landings. The actual race course will be confirmed closer to race day and will be dependent on the wave height and wind.
