This is the first comprehensive signage project for the area since Marina Village was built in the late-1980s. The Port began working on this project as part of the Marina District Development Strategy in 2012. The scope of this effort was to identify a name for the 150-acre Marina District, that includes three marina basins, three parcels of land zoned for mixeduse and Jetty Island. PROJECT DETAILS Renaming the Marinas: Taking a keep-it-simple approach, the marina basins are being renamed to South Docks, Central Docks (previously North Marina) and North Docks (previously 12th Street Yacht Basin). Shipyard cleanup underway; parking spaces slightly reduced In preparation for the former Everett Shipyard cleanup, some of the public parking spaces between 14-15th Streets will be reduced. The Port of Everett has taken numerous steps to preserve as much of the parking as possible during this construction period, but impacts are inevitable. We appreciate your patience during this project. Snack Shack opens at boat launch Mallard’s Snack Shack at the boat launch building is now open for the summer. The business will be open seven days a week, and the plan is to be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Reminder: Renew Your Boat Registration Under Washington state law, a person must have a Washington title, current registration certificate and current registration decals to operate, or moor, a vessel on Washington’s waters. 937 The Department of Licensing used to send out reminder notices, similar to vehicles, but the agency has eliminated this service due to budget constraints. Local law enforcement agencies, not the Port of Everett, do enforce this registration requirement, and have been known to issue tickets. Boat registration is due in June of each year, and can be done by visiting www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/ howtorenew.html or any of the state licensing agencies. First Annual Speed-Crabbing Derby at Port of Everett The first speed-crabbing derby will be held at the Port of Everett on July 20, and is open to the public. Visit WWW. SPEEDCRABBING.COM for details. Port hires Business Development Chief & New Chief Financial Officer The Port of Everett has hired seasoned economic development professional Terrie Battuello (above left), to lead the development efforts of the Marina District and the Riverside Business Park. The Port has also hired Everett native John Carter as its Chief Financial Officer to fill the post left open by the retirement of Karen Clements. Need storage space? Thank you for participating in National Marina Day I want to say a special thank you to all of the local businesses, clubs and organizations that eagerly jumped in on short notice to be a part of our very first National Marina Day event.
