Odyssey’s
epic refit
A Feadship only truly stays a Feadship when it is refitted by Feadship. This was
the conviction of the owners of the 41-metre Odyssey, who have had their vessel
entirely transformed to their personal requirements. Launched in 1989 as White
Rabbit, this lovely motoryacht had already performed heroics for a number of
owners under the names Lady Columbo, Ladina and Bullish. The latest owners
were seeking a top-quality yacht that would retain her value. As well-maintained
Feadships rarely drop below their original purchase price, they knew that a refitted
Feadship would offer better value in every sense than a new build with any other
brand.

After signing the refit agreement, the aft

production was well underway by the time
Odyssey arrived at De Vries Makkum.
REFIT BRIEFING
• Create a lazarette/beach club with folding swim
platform and extended seating on the main
deck level.
• Bridge deck aft to be extended by approx. two
metres to allow for installation of a new MCAapproved tender crane while maintaining the
space for parties and al fresco entertainment.
• Sun deck extension to retain the balance in the
profile and provide space for a Jacuzzi and new
sun pad.
• Make use of sun deck extension to enlarge
bridge deck lounge and create day head for
outdoor use. Lounge interior to be completely
renewed to generate a light and relaxing
environment.
• Give the yacht a more modern atmosphere by:
- renewing all guest suite interiors and
bathrooms
- removing bar from main lounge
- adding new loose furniture and soft
furnishings to all luxury areas
- fitting new door hardware throughout
installing new entertainment system.
• Replace galley equipment and interior.
• Secure provision of electrical power by means
of new generators and switchboards.
• Repaint hull and superstructure.

Style changes
When it came to changing the interior style
the yard introduced the renowned creative
minds from Redman Whiteley Dixon (RWD) to
the owners. This turned out to be an excellent
combination and in a very short time the
proposals to generate a more ‘yacht & beach’
atmosphere were given a seal of approval.
With some minor structural changes and
extensive redecoration, the existing lounges
and suites were given an update, bringing
the interior into the twenty-first century.
The bar port side aft in the main lounge was
removed and replaced by a games table.
The wall between the lounge and dining area
was restyled and provided with a decorated
glass panel to give greater seclusion to both
spaces. The new furniture from Silverlining
adds finesse to the homely atmosphere of
this floating beach house.

sun and the sea in true Florida fashion.
Technology upgrade
Odyssey’s state-of-the-art AV system offers
Internet, high definition TV, pad computers,
laptops, and two incredible music and video
libraries. Another significant electronic refit
was necessary to meet future navigation and
ship’s control and monitoring requirements.
The old equipment was replaced by a modern
semi-integrated bridge system, which involved
a comprehensive update of the bridge console
and ancillary furniture. Further upgrades took
place in the engine room, where new
generators and switchboards were installed.
Taken as a whole, all these sophisticated
technologies ensure that Odyssey can head
out into the world in maximum comfort and
safety for many years to come.
