A S P R I L H E N N I N G M c N U L T Y M E A N E Y 2013-14 ELIZABETHTOWN WRESTLING vs. KING’S (PA) February 6 - 7 p.m. Thompson Gymnasium Elizabethtown College Blue Jays (2-8 Overall, 0-1 MAC) vs. King’s College Monarchs TM 2013-14 WRESTLING (1-10 Overall, 0-1 MAC) Thursday, February 6 • 7 p.m. • Thompson Gymnasium On Twitter: @etownbluejays | @EC_Wrestling | #GoJays ABOUT TONIGHT’S MATCH NWCA TEAM RANKINGS • Elizabethtown hosts King’s (Pa.) tonight in its only home dual of the season. Injuries have taken their toll on the Blue Jays this season, as they enter the match against the Monarchs with a 2-8 record. King’s comes in 1-10. • A few weeks ago, senior Kyle McNulty reached the 50-win mark for his career. Saturday, junior Zeke Zimmer joined him with his 51st in the Pete Willson-Wheaton Invitational. McNulty (53) and Zimmer (51) are the Blue Jays’ top two active career wins leaders, with Jeremy Rieth (48) and Julian Meaney (43) third and fourth, respectively. • Elizabethtown will honor its four seniors prior to tonight’s match. They are: - Kevin Aspril, an occupational therapy major from Lancaster, Pa., and Lampeter-Strasburg High School. - Michael Henning, an elementary education major from Germantown, Md., and Northwest High School. - Kyle McNulty, an industrial engineering major from Toms River, N.J., and Toms River North High School. - Julian Meaney, a biology (allied health) major from Toms River, N.J., and Manchester Twp. High School. • While the Jays have missed the services of 2013 NCAA Mideast Regional 141 lb. champion Jesse Meaney, and 2013 All-Americans Julian Meaney (184) and Jeremy Rieth (285) for most of the season, younger wrestlers have had to step up and fill the voids. Freshman Luke Fernandez has done so, wrestling up a weight at 184. Fernandez is 12-12 on the year and has wrestled in the fourth most matches on the team. Classmates Branden Virgilio (18 matches wrestled) and Ben Martin (four duals wrestled) have also been called upon as freshmen. • King’s, like E-town, is trying to finish the regular season strong in hopes of performing in the postseason. The Monarchs have dropped 10 duals in a row after winning their opener against Hunter. They are led by 165-pounder Tommy Desir, who is ranked fifth in the country with a 21-0 record, and 184-pounder Shane Stark, who placed third at regionals in 2013. King’s will host the East Regional this year on March 2. • Elizabethtown, due to cancellations of duals against Centenary, Kutztown and Delaware Valley, will compete Saturday at the Messiah Open. The Jays’ final dual is next Friday, Feb. 14, at nationally-ranked Messiah. Team Ranking #7 January 28, 2014 PROBABLE LINEUPS ELIZABETHTOWN Wt. 125 Name (Yr.)
