Meet this year’s attendees Bruce Ashley Tammy Aramian I produce exceptionally high quality pieces for print in the areas of education, health and wellness, high-tech, travel, consumer products, and non-profits. Equally productive in team and solo settings; off- or on-site. Meets challenges head-on. Specialties: Creative Direction and Print Production Management – Graphic Design & Production with high proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator & Acrobat – Unobtrusive event photographer with an eye for “the decisive moment” – Photo editor (meaning selection, not image enhancement, although I do that as well). w For over forty years I’ve been working as a freelance photographer out of my studio in Santa Cruz, California. You’ve might remember my work for Apple in the 80s and 90s; I did the “grainy” product illustrations on the kraft cardboard packages. And Amazon, where I recently made the photo lockscreens that came on the Kindles that didn’t have “special offers” running. I’m currently staying close to home, making product photographs and shooting location portraits for Plantronics and Driscolls. First used Photoshop 1.0.1 in 1989 from a pre-release bootleg on a Mac II with the 12˝ B/W Monitor. Collaborated on what were arguably the first independent Photoshop workshops in the early 90s. Am looking forward to attending my first ADIM and updating Lightroom on iOS skills. As I move into semi-retirement I hope to participate in the local fine art scene and travel to Cuba to fly fish for Baby Tarpon. Maybe restore the ’72 SAAB Sonnett in the garage. Mary K. Most of my enjoyment comes from creating vector based illustration and incorporating pop-art where ever possible. I have a background in fine-art and strengthened my skills with the brilliant staff over at Lindenwood University. At Lindenwood I was able to play football and study a well rounded curriculum to balance my professional career. I began in 2005 creating packaging and catalogs for Eddie Bauer, Swiss Gear, Wenzel, and Wanger. Since then I have created amazing posters for some of my favorite films from the action era (think anything with Stallone, except Rhinestone) and some really cool work for my favorite companies! Like Vanilla Ice said “If you have a problem, yo I’ll solve it!” w I’m the owner of MacConsulting Maui that started in 1990. I bought the first built in color Mac, the llCi in 1989. Started helping individuals and small businesses buy hardware and software, setup and install, teach & maintain computers. Worked with ad agencies, restaurant chain and a lot of individual artists, mostly painters, who discovered how much digital photography could help them in their work. Did IT work for many years with the largest whale watching organization in Hawaii. Enjoy photography, painting and water sports. Involved in art community and for years on the board of Art Maui that helps budding artists get college scholarships in the arts. I have been a helper for ADIM/Russell since ADIM 4 in 2001. w Jan Davis A graduate of Art Center College of Design, creative director and founder Jan Davis lives and works in Silicon Valley. Positions at CBS, Raychem, Atari and Apple kept her busy before the launch of Davis Design in 1993. Jan helps clients in a variety of fields build their brand. Jan is a volunteer, sponsor and member of the board for the Westwind 4-H Riding for the Handicapped program, which gives children with disabilities an opportunity to build confidence and coordination while riding a horse. He served as art director for Joseph Papp’s New York Shakespeare Festival from 1975 until the producer’s death in 1991, and in 2014 the Public Theater installed a permanent gallery of his most iconic posters. Davis was founding art director for two experimental magazines, Normal and Wigwag, and designed the opening exhibition for the Museum of the Moving Image. He was a longtime faculty member of the School of Visual Arts, and is a Fellow and Resident of the American Academy in Rome. What can I say – I love what I do. It gives me great satisfaction to create visually compelling marketing materials that communicate at a very high level. It is equally challenging and rewarding. I earned a BFA from the Peck School of the Arts at UWMilwaukee. My career involves work at an ad agency, in-house marketing departments and freelance design. I am currently freelancing and loving it. I love to travel and have an exciting 100 day trip to Europe planned for this summer and fall. I am married, have 2 daughters and 1 grandson with another arriving in June. I am excited to be back for my 2nd ADIM. I am a graphic designer and storyteller. I am also a musical theatre performer, director and scenic designer. He mastered chops and rejoiced when PS added layers, struggled with figuring out why Illustrator has two pen tools while Freehand only had one, and more than once slept on the floor of his office, keeping a watchful eye as Premiere tried to render a multi-layer file without crashing. As a Jack-of-All-Trades, Master of Few, Dave has done work in video/TV editing, graphic design, web design/development, and pretty much anything else a client will pay him for. Dave moved from Cleveland to San Jose a couple of years ago to be, as his mother reminds him, “around your people.” Turns out she was right: he’s really looking forward to meeting his people at ADIM. w: transmitstudio.com t: @davekuhar w Robert Lamarche Robert (Robear) Lamarche is a French-Canadianborn sculptor, mask-maker and costume designer who uses Photoshop and Illustrator extensively to conceptualize and visualize most of his traditional media art projects before he even starts cutting or sculpting. It was a hopeful time, when Aldus PageMaker Color Extension hinted at things the trusty old Mac SE30 wasn’t quite geared to dish out. These days, when he’s not wrangling comps, briefs, brand, and gnarly slices of human anatomy, you might find him with a camera under a star-filled Arizona sky or a spinning Great Plains supercell trying to capture the humbling power and beauty of the experience. Because a camera can’t fill in every crevice of aesthetic and scientific interest, he also writes and illustrates for astronomy publications in the US and UK.
