McLamb’s LP Gas and Supply Company located at 3469 NC 242 South, Benson is owned and operated by Wayne McLamb and Hazel McLamb. Open Mon.– Fri. from 8:00 a.m.—5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. McLamb’s LP Gas & Supply was incorporated in 1970 and employs 14. This company provides heating gas for residential, commercial and agriculture. It also serves as an area hardware store, selling mobile home supplies, metal roofing, firearms and supplies. McLamb’s LP Gas and Supply is a family business offering fair and friendly service. The same family has owned this business since 1970. Dixie Denning Supply Company is owned and operated by the Denning family. Dixie Denning has 3 locations: 705 S. Wall St., Benson, 63 Mabry Road, Angier, and 7490 Hwy.15/501 East, West End, N. C. Dixie Denning opened in 1964 and currently employs 18. Charles Denning, age 87, continues to be CEO. He and his wife Dorothy still come to the office on a regular basis. The business started selling nitrogen, anhydrous ammonia and fertilizer. Now Dixie Denning focuses only on LP Gas and appliances. Known for prompt and good service, Dixie Denning provides LP Gas for residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural needs covering 10 counties. B & S Air Conditioning Co., Inc. is a family owned business that began in 1969. Originally located in the Town of Benson, it relocated in 1977 to 5446 Elevation Road, Benson. Owned and operated by Barry Barbour, Sr. his wife, Frances, and their son, Joseph Barry Barbour, Jr., B & S Air Conditioning currently employs 10 people. The company’s main product line is TRANE equipment; however, equipment preference can be determined by the customer. B & S Air Conditioning provides the following services in both residential and commercial applications: preventative maintenance, repair services, replacement and installation services, new construction, and free estimates. B & S Air Conditioning has been doing business in the Benson area for the past 43 years and looks forward to continuing to serve the community for many years to come. The Barbours give the Lord, praise and honor for blessing them the past 43 years. Beasley’s Heating and Air, Inc., 57 WC Beasley Lane, Coats is owned and operated by Brent and Mike Beasley. This business is open Mon.—Fri. from 8:15 a.m.—5:00 p.m. Business began in 1963 when Willie C. Beasley opened as a tin shop. In 1982, brothers, Brent and Mike, turned the operation into a heat and air business focusing on the installation of commercial and residential heat and air systems providing service to all brands of systems. The company now employs 10 people. Beasley’s Heating and Air, Inc. is a family owned business looking forward to future expansion and continued service to our local communities and beyond. This is a national book sent to all schools in the country to showcase the best books in the nation. SJHS yearbook was also featured in Herff Jones Ideas that Fly in 2006. In addition, South has been named a Gold Medalist in the CSPA Critique (Columbia Scholastic Press Association at Columbia University). The critique is a teaching tool to provide detailed guidance on how well a student print or online media is currently progressing, and how it could improve during the following year.
