Miscellaneous Tips - A little gadget rarely seen but thoroughly recommended is a cycle guy, to support your
machine whilst packing and unpacking. It consists merely of a suitable length of tent-cord with a good fixed loop
at one end, and the usual bight and slider, as on the tent, at the other. Drive into the ground a tent-peg (and a
few spares should always be in your kit), slip the bight over it, hook the other end to the saddle or round the toptube, and adjust the slider so that the bicycle leans slightly away from the peg. It will stand quite firmly unless
some thoughtless person leans against it.

I-Tent and Firstlight
These are the best ultralight tents for serious solo bike travelers. The I-Tent was developed for high altitude mountaineering but has an unequaled reputation for comfort and functionality among experienced mototravelers. The I-Tent’s single wall PTFE breathable/waterproof Todd-Tex fabric and classic
BLACK DIAMOND FIRSTLIGHT
two pole design make a more secure and
lighter tent with greater useable space than
other solo shelters. Self-supporting and quick set-up times are valuable
features in nasty conditions and on long road trips. No rainfly means
one less thing to fuss with and no noisy flapping in the wind.
Windows and doors have hooded awnings for extra ventilation
in stormy conditions. These tents feature corded aluminum pole,
and a fast drying black nylon floor. Everything combines to make these
the nicest ultralight tents available. I-Tent sleeps 1.6. Yellow. 3’ 6" H x 6’ 10" L x 4’

3’ 6" H x 6’ 10" L x 4’ W (packed size 6" x 19"). Firstlight version is made of 1.1 oz. Siliconized
Ripstop (not Todd-Tex) so it’s only 2 lbs. 9 oz.

BIBLER AHWAHNEE
Ahwahnee/Lighthouse/Pueblo
Every night in your Ahwahnee (or Pueblo), will impress you. It’s luxurious to
live in and easy to pack. A single layer construction of seam sealed
breathable/waterproof Todd-Tex fabric makes the Ahwahnee/Pueblo a
fast and easy pitch, yet reassuringly secure in high winds and
storms. No rainfly is needed because the Todd-Tex fabric (Not
Gore-Tex® fabric; but a fabric made exclusively for Bibler.) is a
highly breathable yet completely waterproof and windproof
membrane. Shock corded aluminum poles allow for light
weight and great strength. The full width screened front door
and large screened back window provide easy access,
great views, and effective ventilation, even during the
hardest rains. A pale yellow interior gives a natural
bright look. These tents provide secure living and sleeping space.
Ahwahnee sleeps two. Green. 3’ 9"H x 7’ 6"L x 4’ 5" W. Packed size 8" x 19" 5.2 lbs.,
Pueblo sleeps four. Green. 4'2"H x 7'6"L x 6'10"W. Packed size 8" x 20" 8.7lbs. Lighthouse sleeps

Unequalled value in a high-tech two person tent. Eureka's XTA is a great choice for three-season camping. A
sturdy freestanding 7000 series aluminum frame keeps the whole plot aloft with an economical yet sturdy 2
pole design, and the bathtub floor provides a minimum of ingress points for moisture down low. A full-coverage fly and large vestibulesmean youcan keep
bulky stuff out of the sleeping area yet have it reasonably protected

from the elements. The major floor and fly seams are factory
taped and sealed, so you don't have to deal with that. The XTA
features two large drop-down doors and large areas of
mesh on inner walls to maximize comfort on hot nights.

have the lightweight Gunnison tents. Their vaulted

that can resist high winds and the worst
weather. Double hang-to-the-side
doors and mesh panels allow great
cross ventilation and flexible access.
The nylon tent floor and stretch resistant, fast drying
polyester fly are both fully taped for weatherproof strength. Quick
release buckles attach and adjust the fly to make pitching and striking fast
and easy. Both doors have #8 YKK zippers with nickel plated sliders for years of trouble free wear. There are also two integrated vestibules (front and rear) for keeping your saddlebags, packs and other stuff both out-of-sight and dry. All Gunnison tents include two gear pockets and a mesh gear loft. The main vent and door zipper pulls are reflective so you can see ‘em easier

Eureka Backcountry
The problem with a bivy (even a great one) is that it’s no tent. Duh, ...but if you travel solo and need the privacy a tent provides, the Backcountry I makes a great
ultralight choice. It weighs and packs like a bivy, but isfullyself supporting (no
stakes needed) and lets you sit upright inside for changing clothes, which
is handy during rallies or at public campgrounds. There’s even a bit of
extra room for keeping some of your riding gear covered. Screened
twin track side opening doors make entry easy. A unique screened
hi/lo vent system lets fresh air circulate even in rainy conditions.
The taffeta nylon floor and fly, shock corded aluminum poles,
clothesline loops and meshstoragepockets areall features that make camping nicer
and the Backcountry a top value for your solo trips. Green Backcountry I sleeps 1. 3’ H x 8’ L x 3’ W (packed size 4.5"
x 11") 3.9 lbs. Backcountry II sleeps 2. 1. 3’ 6” H x 7’ 6” L x 5’ W (packed size 7’.5" x 11") 11 lbs.

Head Tent
A miniature tent that's just large enough for your head. You’ve ridden to a race
weekend (Road America AMA, Isle of Man TT, etc...) and you travel light. Asusual,
there are no hotel rooms within fifty miles and the campgrounds are full...so you
head to ‘Nicaragua’ a piece o’ swampland that an enterprising farmer turns into
an impromptu campground every year. Now, you find your friends and become
very completely baked or drunk. It ‘s an annual tradition...and so is the cold, wet
rain which falls later. Head Tent to the rescue! The Head Tent is an easy-to-set-up
(...even while impaired) tensioned catenary pentagonal design and is large
enough to completely protect just your head and neck. Stakeless Easton wands
allows it to be set up wherever you happen to fall down. The siliconized 1.4 oz ripstip fabric is naturally breathable and luminesces slightly (so less people will trip
over you). The single wall Head Tent is compact to carry and makes things much
easier when you need to go out and pee in the middle of the night. Be prepared
to sleep anywhere. You know you need this. 20”x 18” x 18”, 13 oz.

Black Diamond Megamid
A tent without a floor? WTF? Didn’t that go out with shelter halves in the army? Well, no.
For those of you who camp in places that are unfriendly to tent floors, or who want the
freedom to just have shelter over your head and not necessarily beneath you, this
is the way to go. Not having a floor means that you get 81 square feet of space
with only 3.5 lbs. of weight. The Megamid can be pitched over rocks which
might make a perfect cooking platform (but be careful), and without a
floor you can leave your boots on and spill coffee at will. A separate
‘bathtub’ type floor is also available if you feel the need. The
Megamid measures 108" x 108" and stands 67" high. It sleeps
up to four people. Packs to 6" x 20". Detachable floor

Chase Harper Pocket Tent
A roomy, dry, fast-to-set-up tent that packs just as small as a bivy bag.
This is the lightest and most compact one person shelter available. Ideal for dual sport and expedition rides as well as for
sportbike road-warriors who want to carry a comfortable, lightweight tent in case all of the rest area
motels are filled up. (Being prepared for
that eventuality is so freeing...) Designed
specifically for motorcycle travel with
lots of room inside for helmets and gear. Very strongly made of 1.1 oz siliconized ripstop nylon with full bug screens, a quick attach rain fly and a tough
Cordura stuff sac. No poles...requires a single 5' high tie off point (handlebar mirror, tree, etc...). Sleeps 1. 11" x 4.5" packed, only 1.8 lbs.
#1747 $257.00
Traveler’s Grills
Sometimes the sizzle and pop of a steak over an open fire out-serenades a hissing stove. Made of TIG welded type 316 stainlesssteel tubing, thislarge 17" x5.5" grill is great for when youhave something meaty and firm,
like steaks or chops, and want to sear ‘em over a fire, like things were meant to be. Featuring rounded corners
and a shape that is usefully large and perfect for spanning said fire with the help of a couple of flattish rocks.
Both models support medium sized pots and skillets. Both come with a nylon carry bag. Weight: only 5 oz. The alltubing model is great for pots & pans and the mesh version is perfect for direct grilling of fish, meats, etc.

Kermit’s Kamping Chair
Chances are you’ve noticed the twisted, broken remains of many a plastic and aluminum
discount-store folding chair abandoned or stuffed into garbage cans after rallies and
events. Ah, wasteful, race-to-the bottom consumerism... You will NEVER see a Kermit’s Kamping Chair suffer such an
ignominious end, however. Because this is the real deal, a hand-crafted piece of artistic sitz-tech that will keep your
butt off the ground with unmatched elegance, ruggedness, and utility. Constructed of beautiful oak and aluminum structural elements, with Cordura fabric, the Kermit weighs only 5
lbs. and packs into a 4" x 6" x 23" Cordura bag. No small parts to lose. Set it up once and
you’ll see how fast (under a minute, with no tools) and simple it is. It clicks together
with the authority of a piece of military gear. Not only that, but this chair’s good looks
make it as at home in upscale surroundings as well as your campsite, wherever that may be. No nonsense, stylish, and highquality. When you are ready for
your last folding chair, the Kamp Chair awaits. Blue, green, burgundy, or black.

Bear Bag
Water Bucket
In many areas of the country, a fact of camping
out is Animals Eating Your Food When You
Aren’t Looking. This can vary from a nuisance
to downright dangerous. (i.e., ranging from
theft by cute looking small quadrupeds to the
Really Large Scary As Hell Befanged
Kind.) Based on designs used by
backpackers for years, this little
self-contained
bag/rope/weight
sack
enables you to hang food high
up in a tree branch, out of reach of the
aforementioned critters. An even more wonderful use is as a self-storing
laundry drying line when spider-webbed across and around the fixtures
in your overnight motel room. Lets you dry out all of your wet stuff. Packs
down to 5" x 3.5". Has 60 ft. of 600# test paracord and a 1000 Denier
Cordura stuffsack.
Lightweight, self-supporting two gallon

Nobody needs to wake up this badly. They’ll truly raise the dead...and everyone else who’s trying to get shuteye anywhere
in the vicinity. Developed for six-days-on-the-road exhausted truckers and then adopted by crazed Ironbutt competitors,
this is the most sadistically loud alarm clock you’ll ever regret setting. Both the Meanie and Beekin models run on a standard 9v battery, and have easy-to read LCD time displays. The Meanie is a 20 hr. countdown timer and has a manual red
LED night light and the Beekin is a full function alarm clock with an always-on Indiglow display plus three selectable volume settings (addled, painful and suicidal).

Aluminum Mini Umbrella
We’ve heard of people going to motorcycle rallies where it didn’t rain... Although it’s quite possible to bench race
and tell lies without an umbrella, having one along tendstomake thebest of unfortunate meteorological circumstances.
The lightweight aluminumumbrella is38" in diameterwhen open andonly6" long whenclosed, which isprettydarn small.
Featuring a strong all-aluminum frame and a nylon canopy, this ultralight ‘brolly’ has an unlimited lifetime manufacturer’s warranty. Most ultra-small ‘briefcase’ umbrellas have only 6 stays and do not bow out taut. This has 8, opens to a taut arc and will
protect you better.

Packable Jumbo Umbrella
This two-person auto open/close umbrella folds to only 14" length, so it’s
perfect for motorcycle packing. Black anodized aluminum
ribs make it lightweight and a three section steel shaft
makes it strong. A unique vented outer cover makes
it easier to control in windy conditions and a
nylon case with a belt loop snap hook makes
it easy to carry when it’s not raining. The
big 54" arc is large enough to protect two
people in hard storms and the one handed

you exit your tent. Snap, zzip, pop!...drum tight.

Down Bags
Today widespread use of tough, reliable dry bags and dry bag duffels and new small-tent technology and design have allowed down
to become the insulation of choice for many riders. With modern gear it’s just so much easier to keep your sleeping bag reliably
dry, even in the very wettest of conditions. Nothing feels as luxurious as Down.... ZZZZZZzzzzzz.....
Marmot Lightweight Down
The same feathery construction of the Mummy in a roomier cut without a hood. The Wasatch is the

Big Agnes Bags
A unique design which incorporates the pad into a sleeve makes these three models among the lightest,
most comfortable and most packable sleeping bags available. Each is about a third lighter than a conventional sleeping bag (check the comparison chart.). The shell fabrics, are ultra-light and feel luxurious,
but are also strong enough for many years of motorcycle (and other) camping trips. The Big Agnes construction and design details are superior, and because you're always on the pad, the bags can be used
in a broad range of temperatures from desert to mountains. With the integrated pad sleeve, you'll never
slide off your pad in the middle of the night again, either.

Therm-a-Rest Pads
Using Therm-a-Rest’s new LitefoamTM for increased compressibility, the ProLite is 20% lighter and has 20% less bulk for
easier packing. Another improvement is the utilization of StaytekTM, a specially-woven fabric that increases friction preventing you and your sleeping bag from sliding onto the ground. After all, what’s the point of a sleeping pad if it won’t stay
under you? The underside of the pad is covered with a durable nylon that is resistant to moisture, dirt, and punctures. A
noble product that’s worth its weight in gold when camping.

Cook Kit Metallurgy:
Aluminum? Titanium? Stainless Steel? Titanium is the lightest and most costly, but it doesn’t cook best because it transfers heat unevenly. If you want to cook anything
fancier than boiling water for tea or making raman noodles, it’s not ideal. Stainless Steel is the heaviest, most durable and least expensive. It works fine for most kinds
of cooking. Hard anodized non-stick aluminum is the best for providing the kind of even heat dispersion that helps you do a good job in a variety of cooking situations.
It’s non-stick surface makes it the quickest type to clean, too. Aluminum pots are lighter than stainless, heavier than titanium and slightly less durable than either. So
when do we eat?
Titanium Solo Cookset
This three-piece cookset features 1.6 qt. and 1 qt. nesting pots, a snug-fitting lid, a
'litelifter' handle and a reusable stuffsack. Stronger than aluminum and 45% lighter
than stainless steel, it weighs just 10.9 oz.

Hawk Fire Extinguisher
Hey! Your bikes on fire! Just kidding, but wouldn’t that suck? Cover your assets with this compact device and make sure you keep it readily accessible. The beauty of this extinguisher is that it is NON CORROSIVE which means that you won’t trash your bike in the process of
saving it. The active ingredient is HR-95, a highly effective, biodegradable and non-toxic compound that is safe to use around children
and pets. But never mind that, the important thing is it won’t hurt your scoot. And it will put the fire out, fast. Also, because HR-95 is not a
powder, you can use part of the contents and the valve will re-seal effectively. Works on class A (ordinary combustibles), and B (flammable liquids). Pressurized peace of mind. 16 oz. 10"H x 3.5"Dia.

Inflatable Snake
Ostensibly designed to keep dung-producing birds off the docks where yachtsmen park their
fancy boats, but we were intrigued by the potential for tent/sleeping bag mayhem involving reptile-averse members of the riding fraternity. Liven up that rally campsite and maybe get yourself punched. Great fun.
Measures an alarming 6' long.
