The 2014 IPM theme rings true for Ontario Mutuals.
How could it not? We’ve been protecting farms for
nearly 160 years.
We understand the special demands of the area, and
we’ll be there if you have a claim. Just like you, we’re
part of the community. And that matters.

Welcome to the 2014
INTERNATIONAL PLOWING MATCH AND RURAL EXPO
As President of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and Chairman of the 2014 International Plowing Match
and Rural Expo (IPM), we would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2014 IPM.
We chose to dedicate the 2014 Match to Keith Robinson, to recognize his devotion to the craft and science
of plowing. We applaud Keith as he celebrates 65 consecutive years of plowing at the IPM – a remarkable
achievement!
There are many exciting new features for this year’s IPM including Jennifer Jones, curling Gold Medalist at
the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, acting as our Parade Marshall and officially opening the Match on Tuesday.
Also, the decorated Canadian singer Jason McCoy will be performing on Main Stage on Saturday afternoon.
Other special entertainment during the Match includes: The Martels, The Ram Rodeo Tour, The Canadian
Cowgirls, Team Farmall Square Dancing Tractors, Emily Flack and a long list of great local performers.
We extend a special thank you to our Presenting Partners: Hydro One, Ontario Mutuals, and BMO-Bank of
Montreal, as well as to all of our corporate sponsors. We value all our sponsors’ commitment to and support
of the IPM.

Tailgate Talks and IPM 2014: Year of the Family Farm
The United Nations have declared 2014 the “Year of the Family Farm” and what a better way to showcase
this than a tent showcasing topics of special interest within the Agricultural Community. The Farming 101
tent will feature great topics all week such as Agri-Tourism, new Crops and Innovations, and Environmental Farming. Enjoy a chance to speak with the experts around the tailgates of the farm trucks. Don’t miss
our centrepiece miniature family farm depicting the environmental practices of today’s farmers.

BMO Ontario
FARM FAMILY AWARDS
The third annual BMO Ontario Farm Family Awards will be presented to this year’s honourees at the 2014
International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) in Simcoe County. The Ontario Plowmen’s Association
(OPA) and the 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo are thrilled to continue the partnership
with BMO Bank of Montreal to host the BMO Ontario Farm Family Awards program.
The BMO Farm Family Awards were launched in 2012 to recognize Ontario farm families who represent the
values of the family farm and farmers and encourages each of the 48 local branches of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association to nominate a family within their branch area. The program recognizes farm families
and the contribution these families are making to the enhancement of quality of life as a family unit within rural communities across Ontario. The program also emphasizes the contribution these families have on
improving the quality of life within their agricultural communities. The thirdannual Farm Family Awards
for Ontario will be given out at the 2014 IPM in Simcoe County the final Saturday of the 5-day event.
From all the exceptional nominees the following ten families have been selected to receive 2014 BMO
Farm Family Awards:

AN ELECTRIFYING EXPERIENCE
In the weeks before the International Plowing Match,
a team of Hydro One’s apprentices work with their
mentors and teachers. Together they design and
build the electricity system that supports all of the
fun of the IPM.
Our sponsorship provides the electricity system to the
IPM by letting our young workers show-off their skills.
With connections in every corner of Ontario, we’re
proud to be part of the communities where we live
and work.
