Waiting is a movement from Pepper Choplin’s recently composed cantata
Night of the Father’s Love. The cantata in the Protestant tradition has been a staple
of musical composition since the beginnings of the Lutheran service. Pepper
Choplin earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of North
Carolina at Greensboro and Master of Music degree in composition at
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He currently
has written over two hundred anthems in addition to eight choral musicals.

and entertainer. Audiences respond with laughter and with tears as he conducts
and sings his unique mix of inspirational and humorous music in churches and
conferences.

Waiting
Pepper Choplin
Waiting, we are waiting, Lord. Fill the mind till we find your light, your truth.
Waiting, we are waiting, Lord. Fill the mind till we find your will, your way.
Now let us find your presence, Lord, Emmanuel, God, be with us.
We welcome you with open hearts, Emmanuel, God be with us.
Listening, we are listening, Lord. Draw near, let us hear your Word for us.
Patience, give us patience, Lord. When we pray, give us faith that you hear every prayer
as we’re waiting...

THE NICENE CREED
Today’s readings can be found on number 881 in the Gather Hymnal.
I believe in one God, the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth, of all things
visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord
Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages. God from
God, Light from Light, true God from true
God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with
the Father; Through him all things were
made. For us men and for our salvation he
came down from heaven, and by the Holy
Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and
became man.

READING I
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius
Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and
rose again on the third day in accordance
with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the
living and the dead and his kingdom will
have no end.
Jeremiah 33:14-16
Psalm 25
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with
the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken
through the prophets.
READING II

When Will Messiah Come?
Joseph Martin
Almighty God, we cry to You; when will Messiah come?
When will You wipe our tears away? When will Messiah come?
Spirit of truth, we call unto You; when will Messiah come?
When will our sorrow turn to joy? When will Messiah come?
O come, O come Emmanuel and ransom captive Israel.
Lord of the promise, hear our plea; when will Messiah come?
When will we greet Emmanuel? When will Messiah come?
