Pole Maintenance
Official Publication of Kandiyohi Power Cooperative
www.kpcoop.com
Despite the frigid temps, a frost line that is deeper than we’ve seen in many
years, blustery winds and snow filled ditches, our crews continue to brave the
harsh elements in order to do line maintenance. The pictures are of the crews
changing out a pole that was rejected by our pole inspection contractor. It is
likely this pole is 35-50 years old and no longer meets the criteria of what is
deemed a safe pole. Fortunately the crews were able to do this hot, meaning
no one was inconvenienced.

When moving snow on your yard, or snowmobiling in the ditches,
please be aware of the buried transformers and vault boxes from
all of the drifting snow. Typically we have some type of a flag or
marker on them, but we don’t always know if they are intact or if
they’ve been damaged or broken off. In the event you hit one of
these please call us immediately and do not attempt to move or
repair anything yourself. This is a dangerous situation, and should
be handled with caution!
