CENTERVILLE MESSENGER (096380) Free Upon Request-Published Weekly by Centerville Church of Christ, 138 N. Central Ave., Centerville, TN 37033-1427 May 18 , 2016 Volume XXXVI - Number 20 In perspective of government, Paul shares the principle for one to pay, “honor to whom honor” is due (Romans 13:7). While we’ve made it just past the halfway mark of the month of May, we’ve managed to fill it with some marvelous events doing just exactly that task. Honoring those in our midst who have achieved a special milestone in their life, those who have filled the role and responsibility of great significance in the life of others, and those who have embraced roles of service for the sake of others. May began with a special recognition to our 2016 graduates. They, along with their families, were in perspective as we saluted them for their accomplishment and for the time of transition in their life. Such a time is valuable for critical life reminders. Jesus would call those hearts who hear His sayings and then put them into practice, wise hearts. We pray for that wisdom in the lives of our graduates and their families. As always, we honored our mothers, and the newest mothers and babies among our number. The role and sacrifice of surrender and setting aside the wants and needs of the body for the sake of the wants and needs of someone else, definitively points to the life of our Savior (Philippians 2:5-11) and is the role embodied by godly mothers. This past Sunday we honored 20 individuals from among our number, who were selected to stand and fill the role of deacon. These men will help to oversee a great many existing and new ministries in and among our church family. Watch for news about each of them in future editions of The Messenger. I hope you know, the work of our church family is extensive, and we invite you to come and be a part of all that’s happening among us. We were blessed to be able to see our Seniors become graduates on Saturday morning at graduation. All the hard work has come to culmination and the next step in life was begun. Following May 29 graduation we were able to go by several Young Men Lead graduation parties to help celebrate the Coble Services joyous occasion. Next it we were off to 10:15-12 Spring Hill for the afternoon blessing to perform the wedding of Lynsi Boehms and Camp Meribah Steven Sanchez. What a stunning day for a Summer Camp such a special couple. Sunday we were Week 1 blessed to worship together and praise God June 5-10 for all He is. Also, a blessing to see the Day Camp & VBS appointment of additional Deacons to the June 13-15 work here at Centerville. I am enthused to know the excitement these men and their Week 2 families bring to the work of the Lord and June 19-24 this congregation. We ended the day with Teen Week another blessing, after another wonderful June 26-30 worship, at Bill & Joy McDonald’s cabin in Applications Online Wolf Creek. What a gorgeous setting for our Senior High Fireside Finale as we June 18 enjoyed the time together. The food was Columbia Ave delicious, the company delightful and the Youth Day devotional and message from Bill was 9am dynamic. Thanks to Bill & Joy McDonald for the special setting, food, and all they do July 11-13 and have done for our youth ministry. Camp Kerusso & Thanks to Brett & Heather Martin and Misty Daughters of for their help with the evening too. the King “WHEN YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN… all your decisions have been 20/30 & Sr. High made.” -Bobby Morrison via Bill McDonald. Cincinnati Blast The lesson Bill brought Sunday night was one I wish all our young people could have heard. He shared the thoughts of having a good friend like Bobby that was without a doubt the influence he needed to be on the right track in life. The encouragement for our young people to seek out that friend that will be there no matter what and will help you to know what is most important. Bill challenged us all to always remember to “not do it.” When life throws those temptations and difficult trials our way, just remember those 3 little words. This was for some the final Fireside they will attend as a high school student. I can think of no better message for them each to hear and remember as their last. May you always have friends that have your best interest in mind that will stand by you, examples and mentors in your lives that you can look to that will support you, and most of all, may Christ be the center of your life to lead you along the path of life to sustain you. Always… follow His path, -Craig July 22-24 “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17 hThank You ! Hattie Delk writes:“To My Church Family, Thank you for sharing my birthday with me. Your phone calls, cards, chocolate pie, and gifts of love made my day. Thank you for your love.” Carolyn Chessor writes: “I would like to say thank you to the church for the Mother’s Day gift. The mirror and bookmark meant a lot to me.” A Special thank you to the United States Postal Service for the donation of food collected in the recent food drive.
