I S S UE 1 8 / N O V E M B ER Library Closed for the holidays: 2016: 11/24, 12/24, 12/25, 12/26, Closing at 5 PM 12/31 2017: 1/1, 1/2 calendar of Library Closes One Location, Opens Another WASHINGTON-CENTERVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY OFFICIALS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED WOODBOURNE LIBRARY WILL CLOSE AT 5 PM ON DECEMBER 31, 2016 AND A TEMPORARY STORE FRONT LIBRARY, CALLED WOODBOURNE @ CROSS POINTE, WILL OPEN TUESDAY, JANUARY 3, 2017 AT CROSS POINTE CENTER (101 E. ALEX BELL RD. SUITE 118). This approximately 2,700-square-foot location will offer: • Bestselling books • Express books and movies including selected TV series • Selected children’s materials • Self-Serve hold pickup • Research assistance • Wi-Fi access Woodbourne @ Cross Pointe will also have space for the Friends of WCPL to sort and store books for annual book sales. “This will be an accessible, convenient and practical location from which to serve patrons during the expansion and renovation of Woodbourne Library,” says Kim Senft-Paras, Library Director. STARTING JANUARY 3, WOODBOURNE @ CROSS POINTE WILL BE OPEN: • 10 AM – 9 PM Monday-Thursday • 10 AM – 6 PM Friday • 10 AM – 5 PM Saturday • Closed Sunday In order to continue to meet patron needs as best as possible, Centerville Library will expand hours of operation to include Friday evenings. Hours for Centerville Library, beginning January 3, 2017, will be: • 10 AM – 9 PM Monday-Friday • 10 AM – 5 PM Saturday Centerville Library will continue to be open Sundays year round from 1 – 5 PM. - D E C E M B ER 2 0 1 6 w w w. w c l i b r a r y. i n f o HAMILTON EXHIBIT OPENS NOVEMBER 29TH The Library and CentervilleWashington History are pleased to host a traveling exhibit, and complementary events, about Alexander Hamilton, one of the nation’s Founding Fathers, the first Secretary of the Treasury, and the subject of the hit Broadway musical phenomenon. The exhibit, on loan from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of New York, examines Hamilton’s central role during the Revolutionary War and his influence as a soldier, lawmaker, immigrant, economist, and futurist for modern America. Learn how his vision helped shape the America we live in two hundred years after his death. See the General section of the calendar for exhibit and program dates/locations.
