Keeping Kids Safe!
Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death and
disability for children from birth to 14 years of age.
Education and prevention programs can significantly reduce
these injuries.
Launched in 2008 by University of Iowa Children’s Hospital,
the Safety Store and Safe Escape program were created to
improve the health and well-being of all children by offering
families injury prevention safety products and education.
These programs are made possible by a $100,000 grant
awarded by the National Association of Children’s Hospitals
and Related Institutions and the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security under the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s
Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
We are pleased to offer safety products at a reduced cost.
Products are available on transportation safety including
car seats, bike and pedestrian safety, fire, and home safety
products. This catalog also includes hard-to-find items for
children with special health care needs including evacuation
mats, wheelchair ponchos, and adaptable alarm systems
for evacuation and emergency purposes. Child identification
and tracking devices are also available.
