The network is provided for visitors and short-term guests and has limited access to the Internet and MIT resources. The MIT GUEST network is not intended for long-term use. For example, MIT GUEST should be used by summer program or conference attendees as well as nonstudent or non-faculty residents. Limited Access The MIT GUEST network is separated from the rest of the MIT network with a firewall and network address translation (NAT). This limits the services that will work over this network. For instance: printing to Athena cluster printers over TCP/IP port 631 (CUPS) will not work. See the list of blocked and allowed ports on MIT GUEST. Wireless Non-Computers MIT GUEST can be used for wireless devices, such as most gaming consoles, that do not support the security protocols required to connect to the MIT SECURE wireless network. See which popular devices can and can't connect to MIT SECURE. How to Connect It is easy to connect to the MIT GUEST wireless network with a wireless device. Since there are no restrictions to connecting, your device should be able to "see" the network as one of the open wireless options and connect instantly. If your device can not see the network, contact the IS&T Help Desk for assistance. Note that the IS&T Help Desk does not support all wireless devices, and may recommend contacting the vendor of the product if you are having issues. If you need assistance with this process, please contact the Computing Help Desk: Email: [email protected] Phone: 617-253-1101 B A C D F E MIT Campus Map Welcome to MIT Fir st Str e Find your way around campus with your phone: http://m.mit.edu Ballard Burton -Conner et hS tre are Squ ogy Amherst Street W7 W5 W1 oW ay du Pont Court Lowell Court 2 (Under Construction) W2 14W 14 Gray Way 14E 14S Hayden Memorial Library 50 Walker Memorial 4 100 Memorial Drive E48 E40 Muckley Bldg P Tang Center ge P Hayward Lot Annex Tang Center Lot E51 E1 rid Str eet et Str e Cen ter Gray House E2 llo wB P E33 to Longfellow Bridge, U.S. 1 north, downtown Boston Memorial Drive &B ost on Eastgate E55 Eastgate Residential Lot P Hermann Bldg E62 E53 E52 Sloan Bldg Sloan School of Management E60 (Under Construction) B C E90 E94 To Royal Sonesta Hotel Boston Charles River 4 [ ! Under this numbering system, a single room number serves to completely identify any location on the campus. In a typical room number, such as 7-121, the figure(s) preceding the hyphen gives the building number, the first number following the hyphen, the floor, and the last two numbers, the room.
