We’re down to the last dance before the Summer Vacation again! The
Mothers’ Day Dance was a great success. We had a Dance Group from St.
Catharines perform some “Schuhplattler Dances”. The youngest of them was a little
girl only five years old, and she was a professional already, dancing in her high
heels. Along with the poem presented by Ursula Hoffmann they created the perfect
mood for an enjoyable evening.
The oldest mother present, Gertrude Kantwerk, was honoured with a Rose
Bouquet by our president. I live in the hope that I will look as good as she does
when I reach her age.
Ursula Hoffmann has the tickets available for the Gründungsfest and is
selling them on Friday Evenings from 6:00 p.m. in the Hubertuskeller. Tickets
are selling quickly, so you need to call her right away to reserve your seats. Prices
are $30.00 for members and $35.00 for guests. Here is the menu for this very
special occasion:

Raspberry Yogurt Torte with Coffee or Tea
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:30.
A reminder from our subgroups:
The Ladies’ Auxiliary meets again on May 25th at 6:30 p.m.
The ladies are having their annual “Strawberry Fest” on June 10th, from 12:30
to 4:00 p.m. If this is your first time coming to this event, you are in for a real treat.
I remember those waffles from previous yeas, and the whipped cream on top of the
strawberries is the perfect touch. See you there!
The Hunters and Fishers are holding their next meeting on June 1st in the
Hubertuskeller.
Our “Sunday Movie Afternoons” are becoming increasingly popular. Those
who attend always enjoy themselves. And what a bargain! Where else can you
enjoy two features, coffee & cake for $5.50? The next Movie Afternoon is as
follows:
June 3rd… “ Nach der Hochzeit bin ich weg” – a Comedy starring Saskia Vester
& Peter Sattman. The “Vorschau” is “Klingendes Östereich, Hohe Wege, Wallfarth
& Wanderungen”.
The shows start at 2:00 p.m. in the Hubertuskeller, and coffee and homemade cake
will be available as always. For more information call our movie director, John
Cekr, at 905-385-1394.
We are looking to update our “Wine List” with some new product. We will
even have a “House Wine”! Since we are an Austrian Club, these new wines are
from Austria, and not available in the LCBO. Look for them at the dances and in
the Hubertuskeller in the near future!
