The Valentine’s Dance is behind us, and that means that we can start thinking
about spring. I planted some tulip bulbs that I had forgotten about last year, and
found in my basement; they had sprouted and I potted them up, and am now anxious
to see what will happen. If they come to bloom, it will be a sign that miracles can still
happen.
The information for the “Spring Show” is on the door of the Hubertuskeller.
Tickets are available every Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Hubertuskeller
or from Arno Risse at 905-528-5245 or email at [email protected]. Reserve early
for good seat selection. The date for the show is April 8th, and tickets are $25.00 p/p
for show only, or $35.00 p/p for show with a Schnitzel Dinner. Dinner will be served
from 5:00 to 7:00, and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Again, we are looking for
accommodations for the performers. If you can help out, please call Arno.
Ursula Hoffmann is busy selling tickets for the Dirndl & Trachtenball, and
reports that tickets are selling quickly. You need to call her now to reserve
your seats.
If you made a verbal reservation with her at the Valentine’s Dance, please call
her to confirm. She had a lot of people making reservations at the same time,
and wants to make sure no one gets left out.
Also, it seems that more and more of us have gotten away from getting dressed in
our “Trachten” for this dance. Please dust off your Dirndl if it still fits (just kidding),
and take part in the “Best Dirndl” contest; the rest of us will be jealous.
Please mark the date for the next General Meeting on your calendar, so you will
be sure to attend. It’s April 17th, and you need to be there to get the latest on what
has happened as well as how our club will go forward. It’s always encouraging as a
committee member to see a great turnout at these meetings, and know that our
efforts mean something.
A reminder from our subgroups:
The Ladies’ Auxiliary meets again on February 25th at 6:30 p.m.
The Hunters and Fishers meet on the first Friday of each month in the
Hubertuskeller.
The next “Movie” will take place on February 27th at 2:00 p.m., featuring
“Melodien der Herzen”. Coffee and cake available as always. On this day, John will
give you the “Spring Lineup” of what he has prepared for us. More details can be had
from John at 905-385-1394.
Once again we have lost a member. Charlotte Cirkel has passed away. Our
condolences go out to her family and friends.
We also have new members again. Please welcome Richard Baxant and Oscar &
Gerda Lee to our club. We wish them much enjoyment at our functions.
