Student Activities and Sports
Penn State has a strong tradition of student athletics and more than
1,200 student clubs and organizations. No matter what Penn State campus
you attend, you’re sure to find a rich and diverse social and cultural life,
both on campus and in the community.
Penn State
Altoona
Campuses
Our campuses provide a multitude of activities and sports: musical groups and performing
arts organizations; student government organizations; clubs formed around academic and
professional interests; special-interest groups;
NCAA Division III and Penn State University
Athletic Conference (PSUAC) athletics, club
sports, and intramural teams. Each campus
also has several unique athletic facilities. To
learn more about a specific organization or for
a complete listing of clubs and organizations,
call or visit a campus today. The lists of student
activities and organizations are only a sampling
of the opportunities available at each campus.

Athletics
The Intercollegiate Athletics program at Penn
State University Park includes twenty-nine varsity athletic teams, which play Division I sports in
the Big Ten Conference. The campus also offers
four club teams and a variety of sports clubs
and intramural programs for students of all
interests and abilities.
Activities
Penn State University Park offers more than 700
clubs and organizations: student government
organizations, musical groups, publications and
communications organizations, performing arts
organizations, nationality and diversity organizations, clubs formed around academic interests,
religious and spiritual organizations, and dozens
of special-interest groups. From the Astronomy
Club to the Wildlife Society, we offer extremes
and everything in between. One group of students started a Harry Potter Fan Club called the
Three Broomsticks. This organization appreciates and experiences J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series with their own Quidditch Cup,
Yule Ball, Triwizard Tournament, and House
Cup. Others started the Juggling Club, Nittany
Knitters, and Paranormal Research Society.
With so many options, you’re bound to find
something that is a good fit for you.
For a complete listing of clubs and organizations at Penn State University Park, visit the
Student Organization Directory at www.sa.psu.
edu/usa/studentactivities/search.asp.
Penn State’s twenty-nine varsity
athletic teams had an average
semester team grade-point average
of 3.01 in the spring 2011 semester.
