Counsellor Chat
This year, apart from having a major focus on improving our Literacy and Numeracy skills we are
also looking at Student’s Attendance.
Every Day Counts!
Being late or absent adds up from Reception to Year 10.
School is a great place for many reasons—Learning, making friends, developing life long skills and building happy experiences. Your child might be absent from school due to illness, medical appointments, or for
family reasons.
If this is the case, then it is important that you phone the school first thing in the morning, explaining their
absence, so we can then inform your child’s teacher.
If you are unable to phone, then upon returning to school your child needs a note, stating the reason for
their absence.
At times, patterns begin to occur where your child isn't attending school on a regular basis. For example,
they might always be away on a Monday etc.
Please don’t hesitate to ask us for help. By working together, we can look at solving the problem, before it
becomes a habit.
Some tips for helping your child to attend school regularly…
Help your child to attend school regularly.
o
Ask about your child’s day.
o
Check their diary for messages & reminders.
o
Pack school bags the night before.
o
Help your child get up and get
ready on time.
o
Try to book medical appointments in
out of school hours.
o
Make a quiet space for them to work.
Regular attendance gives your child the best chance of
being successful in school and later life.
Road Safety (Reminder for Term 2)
Students’ wellbeing and safety is always at the forefront of our thoughts at RNPS. It is with this in mind that I ask for
your support in regards to road safety. In order to minimise the possibility of any accidents, could you please ensure
the following:

All students and parents are to cross at the designated crossing. I would ask that even parents accompanying
their children cross at the crossing, as it minimises the potential for accidents and also models correct behaviour.

Please do not park in the bus bay as it presents considerable difficulty for the driver.

Please do not park in front of the driveway, next to the library.

Please ensure that you adhere to the 25km/h speed limit all times when children are present.

Please use the footpath when walking into the school and not walk through the car park.

Children will be asked to come in and wait in the front office if they have not been picked up by 3:30pm.

For safety reasons, we would prefer that children waited in an area close to the teachers on duty, i.e. Bus Duty/
Crossing Duty.
Thank you for your support this term.
Wishing you a Safe, Relaxing and Happy Holiday.
See you in Term 2.
