Addressing the gathering, Prof. KRS Sambasiva Rao
said that the empowerment of farmers is possible only with
the continuous dissemination of technical knowledge via
the scientific magazines and by provision of base level
technicians to aqua industry. However, the availability of
base level technicians in aquaculture industry is a major
limiting factor. It is expected that in the next 5 years, the
industry requires more than 10,000 base level technicians
in Andhra Pradesh alone, to cater to the needs of farmers
and for improvement of yields in aquaculture. Keeping this
in mind, continuous efforts are being made to provide trained
manpower to the industry by the Matrix-ANU Advanced
Research Centre in Aquaculture (MAAARC) in collaboration
with Department of Zoology & Aquaculture, Acharya
Nagarjuna University. The faculty also participated in
Swachh Bharat and Plantation programme at Matrix-ANU
Advanced Aquaculture Research Centre (MAAARC).
