“action” for the number of total pieces.
All hard maple, built on a 1.375" unit
standard (think Unit Blocks), and printing

Hello to all,
What can possibly be new in wooden
toys? Quite a lot by the evidence. This
is our third year in a row with over 50
SKUs added to our product line. Our
development team is keeping pretty busy.
Busy enough that as this catalog goes
to press, there is a whole lot digging
going on out back as we double the size
of our building to provide much needed
production space. We are hoping this
doesn’t disrupt our operations in the fall
season too much and we’ll be busy after
Christmas moving in.

Each kit includes a vehicle body, instructions, four axles,
and four wheels (plus smokestack for the engine). The
bodies are about 4" long, they are based on our Scoot cars.
All that is needed for assembly is some glue and a hammer.
Kids can decorate with crayons, markers, paints, glitter,
etc. Made By Me kits are offered three ways: individually in
a polybag with header tag, a 4-kit box set (includes train,
truck, tractor, and tug), and 100-kit bulk packs, great for
larger events.

An old fashioned toy that is fun and challenging,
Ring Toss is crafted from high quality birch
plywood, sanded with gently rounded edges
and finished with a teak oil. The handles measure
about 1/4" thick and 9" long. Colorful printed

My Best Blocks are high quality hard maple
no-finish building blocks in typical shapes.
Our blocks are designed on a 1" basis.
The base block is 1" x 2" x 4". All other
pieces are designed as multiples of
the basis so differing elements can be
stacked to equal each other. We have
four sets: My First, Junior, Advanced
and Master—each with an increasing
variety of block shapes, up to 21 different

We’ve got your back
We do our best to use every piece of
wood that comes through here. We hate
wasting wood, it takes so long to grow. A
few years ago we were running stock that
left enough scrap, we just couldn’t leave it
behind. We scratched our heads and then
thought “Backscratcher!” The product
idea was just below the surface, planted
by Mike’s grandfather many years before.
Thus the Vermont Maple Backscratcher,
featured on page 14, was born. Rather
than give up on this tiny bit of wood we
turned it into a sellable product, and we
have sold a ton of them. It was a somewhat
startling response to this little item that
was almost relegated to the kindling bin.
Emboldened by our success, we now
have a Moose Backscratcher—with a little
added graphics and a little bit of a bend in
the arm, enhancing its “Scratchability.” In
getting the most out of the wood we use,
the backscratcher is a fine example of our
desire to achieve that end….it other words,
it scratches our itch.

Our heirloom rattles are made from select
hardwoods and each design stimulates
in its own way with bells, beads or disks.
Standard designs measure about 5.75" long
and Minis about 3.5" long.
You may notice they are less glossy than
in the past. We have switched our finishes
from shiny enamels and lacquers to oils.
This is in response to consumer interest in
safety. While all of our finishes, past and
present, meet the current standards for lead
and other metals, we try to go even one
better when it comes to babies.
Our display holds three each of the eight
boxed rattle designs and measures 23" wide

Hang-A-Name
This great product will display a child’s name, any name, no
matter how it is spelled. Using a classic letter block design,
this is a natural for any child’s room or door. Using a locking
ball and socket, these can be made up in any order and
will stay together when assembled. The line of 2.5" square
letters (A-Z) plus a heart block interlock with each other.
All blocks are assorted in six colors. Each name needs
to begin with a starter shape which has the keyhole slot
for hanging. There are 16 starter shape medallions of
different designs, found on the next page. Bulk Pack:

Growth Stick
Our popular growth sticks can take on a
variety of themes with our starter shapes
shown at left. These gauges include two
24-inch scaled sections made from pine.
The measurements are printed and the

We now have five lift and learn style
puzzles. These are 11” x 15” x 1/4” thick,
each with six or more removable pieces.
Under the leaves and birds are unique
facts about each. The dinosaurs have an
extra feature—the fun facts are on the
back of the piece and the inside has the
skeleton engraved. The geometric puzzles
have printing on both sides of the parts.

In Praise of the Caboose
Who says bringing up the rear is a bad thing?
Ever since trains took to track there has been a
caboose at the tail end of the line of cars. Usually
painted red and with a shape resembling more
a little house than a rail car, the caboose
provided a much needed place of rest for the
crew on those long hauls across the country.
An interesting feature of the caboose is the
“cupola” which allowed for the trainmen to
view and inspect the train while in motion. Over
time the caboose was relied on less and less for
housing of the crew and has become somewhat forgotten. Now we are more likely to see a
caboose used as a place to store things in the rail yard. Here at Maple Landmark we LOVE
the caboose and plan to keep the idea of the “Little Red Car” alive.

Curly and Birds Eye are both grain figures
that occasionally appear in hard maple.
Curly maple has an irregular pattern that
can sometimes be wavy and even have a
luminescent quality where the wood almost
appears to be three dimensional. Birds Eye
has a very distinctive pattern that looks a little
bit like eyes. How these patterns come about
is uncertain. Some have speculated that Birds
Eye comes about from birds pecking on the
wood. Amusing, but not true. These grain
patterns are highly prized by those who know
of their rarity. We sometimes come across
boards like this that we set aside, less because
of the value than the fact that customers often
consider it a defect! Sometimes we will use
it in cribbage boards where the wood is not
covered by a stain or printed image.

How it works
Pricing: With this section we have tiered
pricing determined on a per order basis.
Set-up Costs: Regular set-up costs are a
one-time charge if there are no changes on
reorders. This charge presumes artwork, if
any, is provided in a ready-to-use form. If it
is not, extra charges may apply. For some
items we offer a discounted Simple Set-up
cost. This is for basic text only, does not
include a proof step, and is not retained—
reorders will incur a new set-up charge and
we cannot guarantee the layout will match
anything previous. The “standard artwork”
shown in this section is available, as is, with
no set-up charge.
Lead Time: Will vary depending on the
product, quantity, and time of year, a week
is typical.

wood when black and white (no grayscale)

photos in laser engraving. If shaded images
are all you have, we will try our best to
make them work. Unless you are a graphic
designer, please submit the best quality you
have, even if it is color, and let us do the
rest.
For Printing
Our direct digital printing is full color,
CMYK plus white, so color counts don’t
apply. Please be sure what you have is sharp
and with good contrast. We can make some
simple adjustments but we do not do magic.
Printing on wood is a little different from
printing on paper, the grain may show a
little. If your design includes white that you
want printed, please specify that to us. If
color matching is critical let us know and
provide PMS numbers, if you can.
Image Quality and Format
Please keep in mind image shape (does it
fit the general shape of the product?) and
resolution, we prefer 300 dpi at actual
size. We’ll resize to fit and can work with
lower resolution if needed, especially for
engraving. Artwork can be emailed to
[email protected]. Vector files
in PDF format are preferred, AI is okay. For
basic bitmap images, good JPG files are
usually okay.
Wooden Nickels, Keychains, Magnets, Pins
• All made from 1/8" thick x 1.5" diameter hardwood disks
• Laser engraved are with no finish applied.
• Color printed disks have a clear lacquer finish
• Keychains have gold colored chain and ring
• Combine quantities on these items for price breaks
• Magnets and Pins are available at the same price as
keychains

Great customizable NameTrain engines and cabooses. The
detail is created by engraving away the darker finish, to the
woodgrain beneath. Typically we retain the upper/lower
artwork and place your design in the center. Our clear finish
TimberToot cars can be engraved (dark) as well. Text and
artwork are possible. Words are limited to approximately
two lines of fifteen characters.
• 2-piece trucks are 8" long
• Both the cab and trailer can be customized

Payment Terms
Prepaid — includes free domestic ground shipping if over $150.
2%/10 days, Net/30, shipping added—Approved accounts only
(references required). We ask for strict adherence on the
ten day discount, using postmark date. For new customers,
we require payment of initial order before reorders are filled.
Overdue accounts are subject to finance charges of 1.5% per
month (18% annual) plus any reasonable collection costs. If
there is a situation that would cause a delayed payment, please
let us know. It is easier to be understanding if we are informed.
Returned checks will incur a $20 charge, back charge of any
discounts, and risk revocation of credit.
Shipping
Standard shipping is via USPS, UPS, or FedEx within the 48
contiguous states unless otherwise specified. Please give street
address. Orders being shipped to other destinations will be
shipped best way or as requested. AK and HI typically ship
priority mail but we may limit any free freight allowance. For
international, contact us.
Drop Shipping
We can drop ship merchandise to your customers. There are
handling fees and payment discounts may not apply. For new
dealers doing business primarily via drop ship, pre-approval is
required. We do not support shipments or customer service
to foreign addresses. Please contact us for more information.
Effective Jan. 1, 2016 we will no longer drop ship to Amazon
warehouses.
New Customers
All new accounts are subject to acceptance by our office.
Territories/Exclusivity
While we cannot guarantee territorial exclusivity, we try not to
oversell any given area. We are not able to control product after
it leaves our location.
Delivery Time
Transit time is from Vermont. We offer rapid order fulfillment,
generally, from stock within a day or two. Even if we are out of
something your order should still be ready within a few days. We
tend not to backorder. Reorders get priority over new accounts.
Please plan ahead, especially on larger orders and during the
holiday season. We accept orders for future shipment.

automatic.

From our website you can find product photos, our wholesale
catalog, price list in spreadsheet form (with UPC codes, weights,

Vendor Compliance Manuals
If you have one, please submit as soon as possible. We reserve
the right to adjust our pricing based on the extra work your
policies require.

Wholesale availability
Not all products on our website are available at wholesale. This

Display Racks
We provide a number of display units to merchandise our
products. They are free with an initial order of product, as
specified. Additional units are available on a cost basis. Please
allow 1-2 weeks for shipment of displays.
Claims
Claims of items received damaged, shorted, or of otherwise
unacceptable condition must be made within ten days. We will
arrange for return, credit or replacement.

Return Authorizations
We may, at our discretion, accept returns for credit or refund.
Items must be of current design and style, in new, resellable
condition with credit given after inspection. If we have changed
designs or colors, the older stock is not returnable. 15%
restocking fee for future credit and 30% for refund. Please call
ahead for an RMA.

Our consumer guarantee allows for the return for repair/
